  1. I was going through the ESPN fantasy expert predictions and thought this one was interesting: In 2009, Yovani Gallardo will stay healthy for the entire season Yovani Gallardo's wins and strikeouts: 18 and 215 Most of the other experts had him around 180 K's and 13 wins. If I had to predict, I'd say 15 wins and 180 K's. http://sports.espn.go.com...ball/ffl/story?id=3806422
  2. Uh. Villy was probably our best strikeout pitcher in the bullpen last year. He did have 93 K's in 108 innings. Anyways, as I was saying in the Handricourt thread, I think Juan Cruz is the best solution and well worth the first round pick. He's got some very good numbers in the last few years and would easily save 30-35 games for us this year.
  3. I think Cruz would be worth the first round pick. We are already going to get an extra 1st round pick most likely if Sheets signs with the Rangers and we are going to have a wealth of sandwich and 2nd round picks. I think it's a no brainer to make him our closer.
  4. I would be sure to check the weather before going through the Rockies though. You can run into mulitple feet of snow at times even in March on some of those roads.
  5. I just came home from my holiday vacation and tried to get channel 122 on TWC and it said the channel was unavailable but after a box reboot, it worked. TWC has to have the worst software of all time. I shouldn't have to reboot my box once a week (which I do now) just to get channels to come in. They used to have a nice interface, but they "upgraded" to some worthless piece of crap software about a year ago.
  6. According to the casual Brewer fan, he's one of the worst 2B in baseball, but statistically he holds up to be league average. I expected more from the #2 overall pick a few years back in the draft and maybe someday we'll get it, but the clock is ticking. I think Weeks will be with the Brewers at least another year, but if he can't break out in 2009, his days might be numbered after that.
  7. Driving would be a hell of a trip. I would imagine at least 25 hours worth of highway time from Milwaukee. It's so nice to fly, but if you want to make a trip out of it, going over to Vegas for a few days and checking out the Grand Canyon would be what I would do.
  8. Bye, Bye UNC from the undefeated ranks.
  9. Horrible weekend. Lost a 3 goal lead in the 3rd period and then lost in OT on Sat and lost by one goal on Friday. Let's hope this doesn't carry into conference play. It will be nice to get the Canadians back from the Junior games.
  10. ESPN Insider is also reporting that the Brewers are in the Lowe sweepstakes calling them a "mystery" team that could get the deal done.
  11. Juan Cruz costs a number one draft pick but at this point I think the reward outweighs the risk.
  12. http://hotstove.mlblogs.c...rangers_in_agreement.html
  13. And yet another free agent comes off the board. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3802316
  14. We stayed downtown last year and it was completely dead. This year we're going to stay in Tempe.
  15. Can we still get the DVD yet? I have my voucher, but I forgot about redeeming it. Oops.
  16. I hope baseball goes on strike for a year and gets a salary cap just so the Yankees poor scouting and player development can finally get exposed. I think a year without baseball would be worth it to see the Yankees suffer.
  17. This is the best thread I've read in the forums this offseason. Good stuff. I remember the "Fire Doug Melvin" thread in September when the team was collapsing, but when we step away from the battle field and look at all the things Melvin's done, he warrants top 10 GM status in the entire Major Leagues if not better. If you can name 10 better GM's than Melvin, you're stretching.
  18. I don't worry about age as much with sinkerballers because they don't rely on the high velocity as much. Those type of pitchers age a lot better than the flame throwers. See Greg Maddux and Derek Lowe.
  19. Wow, I was looking at Looper's stats and he refuses to walk people. Only 45 walks in 199 innings last year with 108 K's. That's a nice ratio and a solid #3 starter in my book if he can replicate that in 2009.
  20. Sure. For the right price.
  21. Yes, because our core players are all at a fairly young age. Sure we have veterans filling in as stop gaps, but when your core is Braun, Prince, Hardy Gallardo, and Parra, that's a pretty young team.
  22. I'm surprised Atlanta hasn't gotten involved since they are looking for pitching and they seem to fit well for Sheets. They must be scared of the random injuries like everyone else.
