  1. Counsell has 98 career PA's with the bases loaded.
  2. Craig Counsell has a career 1.003 OPS with the bases loaded according to baseball-reference.com. Now, he only has 81 AB's so the sabremetrical people are going to say small sample size, but what are you guys thoughts on this? Could there possibly be a "clutch" player or is this just "statistical noise"? Personally, I think if a player can do something like that over the course of a long career, it's more than statistical noise, but let's see what the discussion yields.
  3. Even though we haven't seen much of Branyan at 3B this year, I'm really satisfied with his defense. If you can get that above average defense that he's given throughout his career with a 780 OPS, that isn't all that bad for 3B.
  4. I think you still have to go with LaPorta as #1 because we all know what he can do and he's still putting up good numbers. Gamel is only #2 if he can play 3rd base. If not, he's blocked and then will become a quandry concerning his value to this team. I go with Jeffress at #3 if Gamel can pan out as a 3B. You can't teach a 100 mph fastball and he's still pretty darn young. #4 is Escobar because he's our future SS without a doubt and he's starting to hit while flashing the leather. I go with Aguilar as #5 just for the fact that his numbers are so filthy he could be getting hitters out in the 9th inning right now in Milwaukee. Those 5 don't even touch some other really good talent in the organization, but they seem like the closest to panning out at this point.
  5. You can consider Mike Cameron the Adrian Beltre of CF. The guy gets to everything and he has a good arm to go with it. There aren't many better defensive CF's in baseball than Cameron.
  6. If only the Brewers could improve their BABIP to the Cubs level in their hitting. That's the trick!
  7. This is like going to the bar and your options for girls to take home are Oprah, Rosie O'Donnell and Star Jones (No offense, Dwayne Wade) You can try DeFelice, you can try McClung, you can try all these subpar pitchers. Bottom line is that if we don't get really lucky with one of these guys and they pitch over their head, we are going to be rooting against the Cubs in October instead of rooting our Brewers on.
  8. As long as Gagne doesn't make excuses about only being able to pitch in the 9th, I think Torres would work great as the closer and try Gagne in the 7th and 8th.
  9. Gosh I hope we don't bring Counsell a chance. It's time to give someone like Hurricane or Crabbe a chance as a utility IF.
  10. It looks like we are a year away from our Huntsville guys developing into Major League pitchers and the Nashville starting pitching is just plain bad. I wonder if we'll give Weaver a pitty start or not. We're gonna have to rely on the bats this year in Milwaukee.
  11. Nice start by David Welch. Looks like we're going to have some decent pitching in AAA next year.
  12. I wonder if McClung can actually go 100 pitches this time.
  13. I'm going to disagree with you on this because it might have won us this game. 25 points higher in BA over a span of a career is pretty significant.
  14. That's good enough for me if there's a runner on 2nd and Jones has a better chance to get a hit than Texiera!
  15. I agreed with the move considering Chipper is more of a contact hitter and with a runner on 2nd, Chipper had a better chance at getting a base hit. If Texiera homers, it backfires, but that's about a 1/20 chance, right?
  16. Sometimes, yes. And I can't "keep looking" for Vin Scully unless the Brewers hire Vin Scully to do their TV broadcasts. But I can hope BA improves his game. I don't dislike him, but he could improve.Of course BA could improve. It's his 2nd year ever of being a play by play guy for a major league team. And by saying "keep looking" I was using a common expression that means he's not going to be an all time great announcer like Vin Scully.
  17. So him being silent helps the experience? I don't mind him talking because he has useful information some of the time. If you are expecting Vin Scully then keep looking.
  18. There is no sentiment from me. The team would just be better off with LaPorta at 1B and premium pitching that Fielder would bring in return.
  19. Then how did he clear waivers in April?
  20. Bush made a comparable amount of mistakes that he has in every game this season tonight. It's a testimony to his bad luck so far this season and his good luck tonight. And for some stupid reason the guy just can't pitch on the road. Can we just pitch Bush at home and spot start somebody else like DeFelice or Villanueva on the road? It's sickening how bad Bush is on the road and I just can't figure out why because Miller Park is no pitchers park.
  21. The problem with that idea is that if you trade Prince, you need LaPorta and any trade to get Matt Cain would probably have to involve Matt LaPorta so we'd have no one left for 1B unless you put Gamel there or something assuming he wasn't traded.
