  1. I like these two guys better than all 3 of the guys we got for Renfroe.
  2. Maybe they can find an interested trading partner for Feliciano now that he is pretty much in no-man's land for the Brewers?
  3. This thought just creeped into my head. With Contreras signed for another 5 years (until after the 2027 season), where does Quero now fit into the plan. I'm high on this kid, and if he is ready to go in 2024, 2025 at the latest, what do we do about it?
  4. Maybe, Pina is going to back up Langeliers, so I can't imagine that Pina had any value in that deal. They must have REALLY wanted an outfielder bad, or wanted Ruiz bad to even involve us.
  5. I'd be on board with that! Would love to know what it will cost to sign him though.
  6. I'd love it a lot more with a real 3B and Frelick in place of Taylor.
  7. Anderson and Drury are not the big bats I am hoping for. Those guys are just guys, especially Anderson, and I'm not sure what to think about Drury to be honest. Had a great season last year, but where did that come from?
  8. If only we could snag a BIG BAT 3B... I don't think we are done this off-season. I think we just might be getting a 3B out of the blue just like we got our catcher. We'll probably over=pay to even things out though.
  9. Probably a LOT, however, when they traded Hader, they couldn't possibly know what it would lead to. In all fairness, is Murphy that much better than Contreras? I know there are a million stats that will say it's so, but how much better is he in true life?
  10. Oh man, I don't even know how to act if that is the case.
  11. If we are getting Contreras plus those other guys, there is no chance it is just Ruiz. I don't think I'll be able to stand it if it's Frelick or Wiemer.
  12. Re-watching Parks and Rec. This show is/was fantastic! Plus, it has aged well. I laugh out loud at least once per episode.
  13. Just started Lisey's Story by Stephen King. I've had it on the shelf for years, thought it was about time I get to it.
  14. I enjoyed the first season a lot, second season not as much, and the 3rd season was just meh. I'm not enthused to see season 4, especially after a tremendously long lay-off.
  15. That is a series I have always wanted to see, but just haven't. I'm moving it up on my importance list!
  16. In the 80's, I thought "1941" was hilarious and great. In 2022, I found it long, and not so great. There are classic moments, some that me and my buddies from that time period still quote in normal conversation, but for the most part, it isn't a movie I'd need to watch again. A nice stroll down memory lane is about it.
  17. I remember that show, and used to watch it. haven't thought of that show in years, thanks for the memory!
  18. I was watching this, just cancelled it on the dvr after the last episode. I found it more irritating than entertaining. The principal could possibly be the most annoying character to ever appear in a sitcom imo. She alone made it unbearable for me. My wife watched the first episode with me, and immediately said NOPE! She is an elementary teacher, and found the entire premise so ludicrous that she didn't want to waste another 30 minutes on the 2nd episode. It took me until the last episode to be completely turned off, though I was on the fence from the beginning.
  19. I'm sure he expected to the "the man" on Community, but the audience ended up gravitating toward Joel McHale's and Donald Glover's characters, so most storylines eventually focused on them, with some going quirky with Danny Pudi as the lead. His role after awhile was basically slapstick one-liners and being a foil for the main characters. I'm sure the way his character was written had a lot to do with his on-set behavior. The other actors didn't want much to do with him. I'm in the middle of season 2, and Chevy is very much one of the main characters. His part is pretty hilarious to be honest. Such a good, creative show...
  20. Thanks for the information!
  21. Anyone watching 1883 or Mayor Of Kingstown? I had set my DVR to record both shows, but only the first 3 episodes recorded, then it stopped. When I look ON DEMAND, only those three episodes are available. I am wondering if the rest of those shows are only available on their (Paramount plus)streaming site? Both shows have at least 8 or so episodes, so that has to be the case.
  22. Yeah, I didn't even mention the student behavior issues, disengagement, and lack of any direction to head these issues off now or in the future by administration. The past couple of decades of the passive approach to discipline, or complete lack of discipline all together is now starting to creep up and bite everyone in the butt. Those first generations of "feel good about yourself" parents now have kids in the high schools. Those parents raised kids and were there friends, not their parents. Restorative discipline took all accountability and responsibility from the kids, put it on the teachers, and we are seeing the fruits of that farce as well. Talk about a failed social experiment. Like I said, if I were just starting out in this profession, I'd already be looking for a new career option, it's that bad... We are going to see very few people enter the teaching profession and finish their careers as teachers. The days of teaching 30 years are over. no one is going to last that long. We have completely lost all control, and it's very sad.
  23. You want to talk about worker shortage, the teaching profession is in dire need of bodies... So much so, that they will hire almost anyone with a degree. We all knew it was going to happen after ACT 10 was triggered, but I don't think anyone saw it coming to this degree. My school used to have 40-50 applicants for job openings, now we are lucky to get 5. There is no reason for anyone to go into a profession that is high in uncompensated hours, disrespected openly, pays like crap, reduced benefits (depending on what district you work in, benefits are all over the map) and is a tough damn job mentally, especially since the pandemic hit in 2020. Burnout is happening at a severely accelerated rate. It's real, not just stuff you read, it's happening. I don't see what can be done in the near future to correct the problem, but the first step needs to be higher pay. Money always talks. I'm retiring at the end of this school year, thankfully. If I was in my 20's or 30's and was teaching currently, there isn't a chance in hell I would be able to stick with this job until retirement. So many are teaching for 3-5 years, then bailing. It just isn't worth it.
