  1. In the 80's, I thought "1941" was hilarious and great. In 2022, I found it long, and not so great. There are classic moments, some that me and my buddies from that time period still quote in normal conversation, but for the most part, it isn't a movie I'd need to watch again. A nice stroll down memory lane is about it.
  2. I remember that show, and used to watch it. haven't thought of that show in years, thanks for the memory!
  3. I was watching this, just cancelled it on the dvr after the last episode. I found it more irritating than entertaining. The principal could possibly be the most annoying character to ever appear in a sitcom imo. She alone made it unbearable for me. My wife watched the first episode with me, and immediately said NOPE! She is an elementary teacher, and found the entire premise so ludicrous that she didn't want to waste another 30 minutes on the 2nd episode. It took me until the last episode to be completely turned off, though I was on the fence from the beginning.
  4. I'm sure he expected to the "the man" on Community, but the audience ended up gravitating toward Joel McHale's and Donald Glover's characters, so most storylines eventually focused on them, with some going quirky with Danny Pudi as the lead. His role after awhile was basically slapstick one-liners and being a foil for the main characters. I'm sure the way his character was written had a lot to do with his on-set behavior. The other actors didn't want much to do with him. I'm in the middle of season 2, and Chevy is very much one of the main characters. His part is pretty hilarious to be honest. Such a good, creative show...
  5. Thanks for the information!
  6. Anyone watching 1883 or Mayor Of Kingstown? I had set my DVR to record both shows, but only the first 3 episodes recorded, then it stopped. When I look ON DEMAND, only those three episodes are available. I am wondering if the rest of those shows are only available on their (Paramount plus)streaming site? Both shows have at least 8 or so episodes, so that has to be the case.
  7. Yeah, I didn't even mention the student behavior issues, disengagement, and lack of any direction to head these issues off now or in the future by administration. The past couple of decades of the passive approach to discipline, or complete lack of discipline all together is now starting to creep up and bite everyone in the butt. Those first generations of "feel good about yourself" parents now have kids in the high schools. Those parents raised kids and were there friends, not their parents. Restorative discipline took all accountability and responsibility from the kids, put it on the teachers, and we are seeing the fruits of that farce as well. Talk about a failed social experiment. Like I said, if I were just starting out in this profession, I'd already be looking for a new career option, it's that bad... We are going to see very few people enter the teaching profession and finish their careers as teachers. The days of teaching 30 years are over. no one is going to last that long. We have completely lost all control, and it's very sad.
  8. You want to talk about worker shortage, the teaching profession is in dire need of bodies... So much so, that they will hire almost anyone with a degree. We all knew it was going to happen after ACT 10 was triggered, but I don't think anyone saw it coming to this degree. My school used to have 40-50 applicants for job openings, now we are lucky to get 5. There is no reason for anyone to go into a profession that is high in uncompensated hours, disrespected openly, pays like crap, reduced benefits (depending on what district you work in, benefits are all over the map) and is a tough damn job mentally, especially since the pandemic hit in 2020. Burnout is happening at a severely accelerated rate. It's real, not just stuff you read, it's happening. I don't see what can be done in the near future to correct the problem, but the first step needs to be higher pay. Money always talks. I'm retiring at the end of this school year, thankfully. If I was in my 20's or 30's and was teaching currently, there isn't a chance in hell I would be able to stick with this job until retirement. So many are teaching for 3-5 years, then bailing. It just isn't worth it.
  9. Had an Edward Norton film fest this past weekend. The Italian Job, Primal Fear, and The Score. All good movies, with decent twists. Still working my way through the collection. Watching the multi-movie pacs that don't fit alphabetically. lol
  10. That was the first movie I attended in person since the Pandemic had started, and I thought it was great!
  11. The last time I sat down to watch linear, scripted TV was the 2009-2010 Thursday night lineup on NBC: Community Parks & Recreation The Office 30 Rock I don’t think you’ll find a better night of sitcoms in the history of television. In the 90s, NBC ran Friends & Seinfeld together and Friends & Frasier together, but never all 3 on the same night regularly. Agreed, but I never was a fan of 30 Rock. I used to watch the first 3, then turn the channel or do something else... Can't even tell you why.
  12. Just started to re-watch "Community" last week. Good stuff...
  13. Just finished season 12, the final season, of Big Bang Theory. Great show, full of likeable characters. I admit I liked the show better before everyone got married and kids started popping out of Bernadette, but still, a solid show for 12 years! Rarely did I watch an episode that didn't make me laugh out loud at least one time. (usually multiple times) I used to watch it when it was on the air, but it was hit and miss. I appreciated it a LOT more watching it all in order from seasons 1 -12. My wife and I have been watching Young Sheldon since it started, and it's pretty good, but I feel it is running it's course...
  14. Being a teacher, I sometimes dream of a job that you punch in, and punch out, and don't spend all your non work hours thinking about work related stuff...
  15. I unfortunately have. It's terrible. Don't waste your time. lol That is what I was afraid of... Thanks!
  16. My students have been talking about a movie on NETFLIX that they think is just hilarious. I realize that most of the time, what high school kids think is hilarious, I find not hilarious, but has anyone seen the following movie, and can recommend it to adults? The Wrong Missy They have told me it was pretty nasty and vulgar, which is really all it takes high school students to love it. lol
  17. We paid off our mortgage about 6 years early by paying extra every single month we had the mortgage. We tried to pay $200 extra a month, and as time went on, we started paying $500 extra once we were financially set. I never figured out how much we saved in interest by paying it off early, but it had to be A LOT over the life of the loan. It was like being released from prison when we paid our last mortgage payment...
  18. I watched "Don't Look Up" this past weekend on Netflix. I am not a Netflix subscriber, but my son has an account, and while he was home on break we watched it. It was entertaining and had plenty of characters to absolutely HATE. The parallels to today's society are too many to mention, but watching it made me realize just how sad we are as humans. It was a bit long (2:21) but worth the watch if you have the time.
  19. I can't see throwing out 700 dvd cases though... I have the storage system already in place, just want to weed out the ones I don't think I'll ever want to see again. Those cases you posted would be great if you moved around a lot though...
  20. So you're through all the "8" movies? lol I'm into the "A" movies, all my number movies have been viewed and reviewed. Kept some, dumped some, but I'm still chugging along. It will literally be years before I get through them all, but with retirement coming in June, I'll have the time...
  21. I think I'm done with Marvel. Soooo many movies, tired of trying to keep up. For me, they just aren't as good as they used to be. There was a time I'd look forward to them, now with every new release I just roll my eyes and dread going. Yup, that is a sign, I'm done with them...
  22. TURBO

    Pizza

Just so the board knows, Pothole frozen pizzas at Kwik Trip are BOGO free the day after Packer victories. Not sure if that carries over into the playoffs, but for the regular season games, it is still going on. Super deal on GREAT pizzas.
  23. TURBO

    Pizza

if you have a Jet's Pizza nearby you should give it a try Yeah, Jet's is pretty good. Nice change of pace from the Little Ceaser's and Pizza Hut types (both of which I enjoy). I've never tried Marco's but will at some point. I've heard good and bad about them.
  24. So good!
