  1. I'm really pulling for Burnes to become a mainstay in this rotation. Corbin Burnes struck out seven hitters over four scoreless innings on Wednesday in an intersquad contest. Burnes was dominant in the intersquad bout, and his fastball was up to 98 mph against the "other" Brewers lineup. Keep in mind that Burnes was once a consensus Top 50 prospect, and that he doesn't turn 26 until near the end of October. There's obvious risk because of how much he struggled to keep the ball in the park in 2019, but if Burnes is one of the starters for Milwaukee to open the truncated year, he's a name that you have to keep an eye on at the very least. 2. I've always assumed that those are all the same person.... Must be a midwest thing for #3 but #2 is by far the worst. Doubtful, Midwestern people are known for being friendly and waiving/nodding back in those situations. #2 is the worst for me...
  3. And here we go: Brett Anderson's start in Wednesday's intrasquad game was cut short because of a blister. The Brewers are saying Anderson's removal was precautionary. If the left-hander is indeed okay health-wise, he will break camp as part of the rotation. Source: Adam McCalvy on Twitter Jul 15, 2020, 9:39 PM ET
  4. Where can these games be seen? Facebook?
  5. Everything about this virus should be questioned, absolutely everything.
  6. Half of college kids binge drink 4 - 5 times a week? Binge drink? I think that is probably not very accurate.
  7. Brewers added INF Brice Turang, LHPs Clayton Andrews, Antoine Kelly, Angel Perdomo and Ethan Small, RHPs Phil Bickford, Dylan File and Trey Supak, OFs Thomas Dillard, Tristen Lutz and Corey Ray and C Mario Feliciano to their 60-man player pool. All 12 players have been transferred to the team's alternate training site in Appleton, WI. Turang, Lutz, Small and Ray are among the team's top prospects, but among them only Ray has any chance of seeing time in the majors this season. Jul 9, 2020, 4:35 PM ET
  8. On point. I have 2 years left, if I could retire now at 55, I would. (well, actually, I could retire, but it would be too large of a financial hit, so waiting until 57) I am just dreading the start of this school year and the chaos it is going to bring. Our current climate is just one more reason that people are crazy to go into teaching as a profession now-a-days. A teacher shortage has been in effect the past 5 or 6 years as it is. It took a few years for ACT 10 to decimate the hiring pool, but we are feeling the effects now. There used to be a big pool of teachers applying for jobs, and the district got to pick the best one, now, getting people to apply for the job is difficult, and when they do, districts are left with hiring a body, not the best candidate. We have hired teachers in the past few years based on the fact that they showed up for an interview. lol Slim pickings. Substitutes are already impossible to find, no one wants to babysit brats for 8 hours, get treated like dirt from grades 7 on up by the brats, and get paid almost nothing. Take all that into account, and now get thrust into a situation like the pandemic? Most of the subs in my district are retired teachers, at the age of risk, so Yeah right...
  9. I would imagine/hope that would be the case. Being a Type 1 diabetic does put him at a higher risk should he contract COVID, but he seems very in tune with his condition, and would perhaps be safer living in the "bubble" in Appleton than home in California. Appleton's bubble already burst. Outagamie county has been showing some of the biggest growth of the virus recently. Not surprising when I see the number of people not wearing masks out in public and traveling in packs of people...
  10. The long term psychological and physical effects from children not socializing for many months up to several years are not known. Not picking a side here, being a teacher, I still am on the fence, but if you think kids are not socializing with other kids, drive around a little bit. They are everyplace. Big kids, little kids, kids of all ages are with each other socially.
  11. It is surreal to me looking at that and realizing that we are actually only going to have 60 Brewer games this season. I'm not fond of this world we live in.
  12. Walking Dead is still appointment tv for me, but that is the only one... Everything else I watch is dvr'd.
  13. Joey Gallo confirmed Monday that he tested positive for COVID-19. The good news is that Gallo is asymptomatic and feeling good. However, he needs to get two negative tests before joining the Rangers. His initial positive came on June 29 after a test two days earlier. A subsequent nasal test came back negative, but then a saliva test from July 2 came back positive yesterday. This is one of the frustrating parts of testing in general, but Gallo is forced to wait for the time being. If all goes well, there's still a chance he could be ready for the start of the season. 14. First word is Pain ahhhh, thanks... just couldn't come up with that on my own.
  15. They can't even bring themselves to do a Nieves No Hitter bobble, somehing tells me the things you just mentioned are not even a remote possibility... Also, they never bothered to finish the 2nd series of Racing Sausages. They left out the Brat. Makes no sense to do all of them, and leave one out, but that is what they have done. Once that stupid Hank mutt came on the scene, they stopped the sausages and went full on Hank the dog... Disappointing. At least they finally stopped with the Hank nonsense, but never came back and finished the Sausage series. The Brat gets no respect.
  16. Peavey, on mine, the bat fits nicely... I think you probably have that "lemon" you speak of.
  17. What does PITA stand for?
  18. Aaron Nola (illness) has reported to Phillies' summer camp. In fact, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports that he's throwing a bullpen session. Nola was away from the team for the start of camp due to concerns over COVID-19. It's unclear whether he tested positive or came into contact who had it. Either way, he's been cleared to participate, which is a sigh of relief. Source: Matt Breen on Twitter Jul 6, 2020, 11:43 AM ET
  19. Angel Perdomo tested positive for COVID-19. The diagnosis came back during intake testing. Perdomo is asymptomatic, but he's going to have to self-quarantine for the time being and will require two negative tests before joining his teammates. The 25-year-old southpaw was added to the 40-man roster during the offseason after putting up a 4.28 ERA and 107/46 K/BB ratio over 69 1/3 innings in Triple-A last year. Source: Adam McCalvy on Twitter Jul 6, 2020, 9:48 AM ET Luis Urias has tested positive for COVID-19. Urias' teammate left-hander Angel Perdomo has also tested positive. Brewers manager Craig Counsell made the announcement Monday morning with the players' consent. The good news is that both players aren't displaying symptoms, but they are in the protocol at this point. They'll need to have two negative tests before joining their teammates. Back in March, Urias was projected to miss the start of the season due to a fractured left hamate bone. He's had plenty of time to recover from that, so now the question is how quickly he can get back up to speed after his positive diagnosis. 20. Players are dropping like flies... It appears either they came to camp with the virus, or are spreading it to each other like wildfire. We think they are going to play in 3 weeks? I won't be surprised in the least if after all this huhub, MLB just shuts it down until next year.
  21. Goldbergs is awesome, especially if you are an 80's kid.
  22. By this time, I think it is impossible to change the minds of those who wear masks, and those who don't wear masks. The information is out there, and you can find information that backs up both sides if you really want to. I don't think this is all political, I think it is just a choice, which could be affected by your political stance, but not in all cases. I'm not a democrat (but my wife is), but my wife and I wear a mask every time we are in public (which isn't very often, only to get groceries basically). So to say the non mask wearers are all conservatives is false. I also know some democrats that won't wear a mask. so again, I think it is just people making personal decisions, some better than others...
  23. Agree with everything said about Community. Watched it from beginning to end when it was actually on TV. It was coupled with Parks and Rec, and was a great hour of television...
  24. So I just filled out the online form for my 3 single game tickets refunds. (1 April game, 1 July game, 1 August game) I don't see any way to get a refund for 4 packs though? I purchased 2 Buddy the Elf Bobblehead 4 packs, but I don't see a way to get refunds online for those. Anyone done that yet? Do I need to make a phone call for those refunds?
  25. I am starting to wonder the same thing...
