  1. Better them, than us! I was an anti RRR fan, one of the happiest days as a Brewer fan was when he left...
  2. For the team as it sits today, a LOT of things are going to have to go right. Margin for error is pretty low. They could finish a game or two above .500, or they could go the other way. I will be shocked if they win 85 or more, but won't be shocked if they win 75 either...
  3. So we get to look forward to this topic being drug through the mud another 2 years. joy.
  4. I think Bird's extensive history of injuries was just too much for Stearns and everyone else to consider him. Plus he reportedly is still not fully healed. Bird came up in 2015 and then missed all of 2016 with a shoulder injury. He had multiple surgeries on his ankle and missed 3/4 of 2017 and over 1/2 of 2018. Last year he played 7 or 8 games, then injured his left heal and was done for the season. but WELL WORTH a minor league contract...
  5. This is the guy I wanted to take a flyer on. Seemed like a no-brainer... Rangers signed 1B Greg Bird to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training. Things didn't work out for Bird with the Yankees, mostly due to a lengthy list of injuries, but he's flashed some serious power potential in the past and makes for an intriguing flier going into his age-27 season. It's not crazy to think he'll have a role with the Rangers this season, as only Ronald Guzman stands in his way at first base, but the most important thing is staying healthy. SOURCE: George A. 6. I went and saw Bad Boys 4 Life last week. I often enjoy movies like that for pure entertainment value. I liked both of the previous versions, so figured "why not?" Movie was fine, but without spoiling it for anyone who hasn't seen it, there was one part of the movie, and how it ended that just irritates the crap out of me. So much so that it completely tainted the entertainment value for me.
  7. 1917 was fantastic! Thanks to those who recommended it...
  8. ok, this was funny... Kind of sad, but still funny.
  9. The new logos are growing on me... I was originally in the camp of Leave the Old ball and glove alone, but I like the new one.
  10. True, but look at our infield, offensively, I think Hiura is the only position that we know what we have. SS is now up in the air, 3B looks like a nightmare, and 1B could be troublesome too with Smoak penciled in for at least half the starts. Hiura is the only bright spot in that infield, everything else is a complete and total crap shoot.
  11. Offensively, I'm going to predict that this platoon does not perform well enough to remain for the entire season. Somehow, something else will need to be done. I just can't believe that we are going into the season with that as our 3B situation. Almost seems like we are just throwing in the towel on 3B, and hoping every other position works out. Now that it looks like Arcia might be playing a lot more SS than originally planned, this is concerning.

  13. Ok, 1917 it is! Been wanting to see it!
  14. Pretty sure it is still Miller Park through the end of the 2020 season. Why am I seeing so many calling it AmFam Field already?
  15. You think AmFam ponied up to "support" the team? They ponied up to support their pocketbooks, and no other reason. It's all about the $$. I know how sponsorships work. It's the same thing. Supporting the team and a lucrative partnership aren't mutually exclusive. I can tell you though as someone who works for one these larger local brands that it's not for "no other reason." That's just not true. These companies absolutely do care about the partnerships they engage with and one as reputable and wholesome as the Brewers is a good fit for most of them. There are reasons these partnerships get formed that go beyond money even if that is the biggest one. It's not the only one. That all may be true, but I do not believe they throw that kind of money around to support the team.
  16. Would like some opinions on a couple movies. Planning to see one Tuesday. 1917 The Gentlemen Anyone seen them?

  18. The Mariners have interest in adding free agent right-hander Taijuan Walker. Walker was non-tendered by the Diamondbacks in December after missing the entire 2019 season while rehabbing from Tommy John surgery on his pitching elbow. Walker was drafted by the Mariners in the supplemental first round of the 2010 draft and spent a few seasons as an elite prospect. He debuted with the Mariners in 2013 and was eventually traded to Arizona along with Ketel Marte for Jean Segura, Mitch Haniger and Zac Curtis prior to the 2017 season. The simple fact that a former elite prospect like Walker is still a free agent nearly two months after being released is a good indication that teams do not believe he is healthy and ready to contribute in 2020. The 27-year-old will likely have to settle for a minor league deal somewhere. He has a career 31-31 record and 3.95 ERA in 94 starts and three relief outings. Source: MLB.com Feb 1, 2020, 11:47 AM ET
  19. Why not just leave it as is? You know, preserve history... Why does it have to change?
  20. For Hader straight up? I would 100% hope not... Where would he play? Our top 3 outfielders are signed for the next 2 years (Garcia) 3 years (Yelich and Cain). If this is the best we could do, Hader stays a Brewer!
  21. I know this is a LONG shot, but if any of you SSH's have an extra SSH Woodruff bobble this year, I'd be willing to purchase it from you, or trade for it if that is your thing.
  22. Apparently Tyrone Taylor had wrist surgery as well this offseason and will be limited in camp/uncertain for Opening Day How the heck did that get by this page? Was it a secret for some reason?
  23. Anyone telling me about a movie I will never see, and quoting said movie, is like death at times... Just shut up! Or when they say you should watch "insert something you have zero interest in watching and never will" Yes, 100% true. Same thing with music. If someone says I need to listen to "insert something" because I will love it, knowing full well I will not, that just grinds me... I am set in my music ways, and most kids do know that as we discuss it frequently, yet they think they can convert me because the music they want me to hear is so important to them, they can't imagine someone not liking it. This reminds me of something, kind of related... Back in the mid 90's, I had a student that would debate with me almost daily, about rap music, how great it is, and it will one day become classic music on mainstream radio because it will take over all other forms of music. It was his life, and he wanted to be just like his rapper heroes, "THUGLIFE" and all that nonsense from back in the 90's... I used to ask him if when he had kids someday, would he play his rap music for them, knowing full well the lyrics were highly inappropriate for little ones. He swore up and down that he would, and that there was nothing wrong with how rappers rapped about mistreating women, talked about drugs, glorified violence, and cussed like sailors in their music. He found nothing wrong with sharing that with his kids, at every age.. I always told him he would feel differently someday, but he always disagreed. Like I said, we discussed it a LOT! I got a facebook message from that student a few years back, telling me I was completely right, there is no way he'd play that crap for his kids, and that he now looks back and wonders what he was thinking even listening to rap music. He said that since he had kids, he now realizes what I was talking about, especially the way rap music treated women, and there was no way that he wanted any boys/men treating his daughter like his rappers did in that music. I was super happy to hear from him, not because I was right, but because I always thought he could end up doing really bad things with really bad people based on his viewpoints as a teenager. It was nice to hear he leveled out, and didn't become what he thought was so cool 20 years ago. He met a nice girl after high school, they actually settled down and had a couple kids and are all doing great. He no longer listens to rap music because as he says, he outgrew that phase of his life. Ok, that's my story, carry on...
  24. For certain... Far better than being "that" teacher that kids avoid, and make no connection with. Still makes it annoying, especially when you have something you have to take care of between classes, but instead you are just wishing the "encounter" would end so you can get to it lol
