  1. I am not kidding, seriously, these are the choices that fans get to vote on: Colorado Springs Happy Campers Colorado Springs Lamb Chops Colorado Springs Punchy Pikas Colorado Springs Throttle Jockeys Rocky Mountain Oysters https://secure.milb.com/tickets/form.jsp?formid=team_name_vote_2&formcode=form&sid=t551&section=team1
  2. oh man, that is a great point.
  3. and that precisely is what should, and could get them into trouble. you are taking a group of people, in this case, R words and F words, and using them to degrade someone else by calling them those names. Maybe I am not explaining this correctly, or clearly, but using those terms for namecalling is no better than what Hader did. It's in the same offensive category if you are one of the group that Merrifield was referring to.
  4. Syndergaard is so worrisome to me. This organization can not absorb the loss in prospects it would take for a guy who has pitched 90 innings since 2016. He is an injury concern, period. When healthy, one of the best for certain, but his recent track record indicates a MAJOR injury risk, and that would just kill us!
  5. links? Also, is Trout also getting looked at for his twitter account? I saw something that he might be in the do do as well? Maybe I'm not sensitive enough, but people are getting a little carried away with these (not talking about Hader's tweets). Merrifield isn't spreading hate on a group of people or putting people down. These words were used a lot 5+ years ago. Trout is the same situation as Whit's. Like you, I'm not as sensitive to this stuff as most seem to be. Except, the R word is viewed as a hate word and is putting people down. Same with the F word in that tweet. That is 100% a gay slur and has always been. If Hader goes down for what he said, this can be lumped into the same catagory when it comes to offensive language.

  7. My guess is the Dodgers are scrambling right now, trying desperately to rework this deal. He's a Dodger, and that is that.
  8. Feels like false hope... I am going to act like this isn't happening, and that the Dodger trade is still on and done.
  9. According to Steve Phillips of MLB Network Radio, there is a "possible snag" in the Dodgers' expected acquisition of Orioles superstar Manny Machado. Phillips hears from a source that "one or more" of the prospects that the Dodgers offered to Baltimore had some "issues in their physicals" -- as in, medical issues. This is not new territory for the Orioles, who have multiple times in the recent past rejected trades and asked for contracts to be reworked following physical examinations. Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reported Tuesday night, during the MLB All-Star Game, that Machado was all but certain to be dealt to Los Angeles before the start of the second half. Phillips now writes that this situation "may open the door for other clubs" to jump back in. Stay tuned. Source: Steve Phillips on Twitter Jul 18 - 2:29 PM ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Jon Heyman of Fancred reports that the medical holdup with the Manny Machado trade isn't related to Dodgers outfield prospect Yusniel Diaz. Diaz is the headliner of the deal, so any problem with him probably would've meant the deal falling apart. Since the medical issue is with more of a complementary piece, the two sides still figure to work things out even if it means having to alter the trade a bit. It wouldn't appear to be a slam dunk anymore, though, so it's possible the Phillies and/or Brewers put in a call to see if they can jump back in. Source: Jon Heyman on Twitter Jul 18 - 4:35 PM
  10. There are a lot of professional athletes removing and closing twitter accounts today, you can bet on that...
  11. And it begins. The witch hunt is now underway. This world sucks.
  12. The guy tweeted "White Power," "KKK," and "I hate gays." If he's "ruined," I think he deserves a large part of the blame. Again, he was a minor. I work with minors every day, it's my job. If everything I hear them say, write, etc. comes back on them 7 years from now, I can't comprehend how that helps our society. What he did was dumb, but should it effect the rest of his life?
  13. I think it will stick, and I see this possibly ruining his career. When groups of people get it in their heads to ruin someone, they can do it. In today's society, agree with it or not, if there is a plan in place by any one of the groups he offended 7 years ago, he will feel this forever, and may not recover. Like everyone else has mentioned, thankfully, their were no phones with cameras, social media, or today's technology when I was a kid. We all said and did things that belong buried in the past, and I can say for 100% certain, I am not nearly, in any capacity, the same person I was when I was 17 years old. To me, this is a non-story. If we all base our fandom on personal issues with athletes, is there anyone out there we can support fully? Highly doubtful. I hope some of you are right and this goes away in a couple of days, but I think that the nastiness of the media, and certain social groups, will not allow that to happen.
  14. Simple fact of the matter is that Braun no longer has a place or purpose for this team, yet we are 100% stuck with him. His presence alone does nothing but screw up the roster on a daily basis. It's no secret he'll be on and off the DL forever, but at this time, the DL is where he helps us the most. I'm a Braun fan, but the writing is on the wall.
  15. There are worse things kids could be doing than playing a video game. It is cheaper or can be cheaper than playing airsoft or paintball. If your kid likes playing that game have them try paintball or airsoft instead. Paintball and airsoft can be rather expensive but are incredibly fun to play. I think that maybe the point Jack was making has been lost on you...
  16. So where does Braun play? CC isn't going to bench him completely, just not going to happen. Braun will mess this roster up for the next 2.5 years, and there isn't anything that we can do about it. Say Santana rakes from this point on, we are going to keep Braun and Thames on the bench? It's a good problem to have if that is the case, but putting CC in that situation could be interesting.
  17. Why would that be in blue? Scooter has played circles around anything we have trotted out there since he left.
  18. Peralta, Ortiz and Phillips are too much for a 2 month rental. Sub Arcia in there for Phillips, still way too much. Your point is lost.
  19. Not trying to be a buzzkill, but where do we play him?
  20. I think it actually took BIG GIGANTIC ENORMOUS stones not to give up our future for Machado. It would have been easy to give the O's what they wanted. A lot harder to stick to your guns in this situation. Stearns has very large stones imo.
