  1. Just because Santana has played CF, doesn't make him even a consideration to play CF now... He played CF out of necessity a while back, but given his defense, I can't see him ever playing another inning there.
  2. Yep. Easy decision for me. So many more red flags with all the free agent pitchers compared to Cain. No red flags with Cain's age and length of contract?
  3. Wouldn't that depend on what they are paying him? Would you say that if it were 28-30 million per season?
  4. Yelich and cain will not get 5 games off per month, you are saying that they take off more than one game per week? They didn't just trade the farm and drop that cash on guys that are going to play 135 games per year. Not gonna happen, nor should it. They may get an occasional day off, but I just can't see them playing that infrequently unless there is an injury involved. We screwed up in getting them both without a new home for Domingo in place. Now we have a logjam on the roster, however, it will more than likely play itself out, so I'm not worried. For all we know, Stearns has another pitching option in mind, there is still time...
  5. I can only hope that this leads to the downfall of Boras, but that isn't realistic. He'll get his, and his players will get theirs, but to see this happening to so many of his guys leaves me feeling happy. Nothing against his players, but I like seeing Boras look like an idiot.
  6. Can you post the players you are keeping so we know what you have?
  7. GOOD! Don't let the door hit you on your way out. Glad this charade is finally over...
  8. I was just thinking I bet he signs for 4 years 80 million, but it could actually be less at this point.
  9. Sign Lucroy and Voght goes, sign Walker, and who goes? Sogard is a CC guy, and I think they are going to give Villar a fair shot at regaining his value.
  10. I think the average MLB player just doesn't realize how lucky they are to be paid like they are, to play a game like they are, and to be famous, like they are. I think they all take it for granted, while guys like us would give almost anything to be in their position. As a kid, my lifelong dream was to be a baseball player. An obvious pipe dream, but I didn't realize that until my high school playing days were over. I probably could have played DIV. III baseball, but had to work to put myself through college, so there was no time to even attempt it. Instead, what I did was play fast pitch softball in 3 different leagues every summer, with great bunches of guys. We played tournaments most weekends, and the bonds that were made in that time of my life are and have been life long. Then came a wife, kids and work responsibilities. From there I moved onto slow pitch softball, same thing, but only 2 nights a week, and fewer tourneys. I like to think if I were a MLB player, I'd want to take advantage of all you mentioned above...
  11. When Braun goes on the DL and we have an outfield of Yelich/Cain/Santana with Phillips or Broxton up as the 4th it won't seem like a log jam anymore. We are at the point of his career that it's not even an "if" it a "when". They signed Cain because they get high contact, low strike out rate, good base running, and good defense player that fits what their vision is. Everyone is looking at the log jam that we will have on opening day, but it would most likely play itself out over the course of the year that someone is spending time on the DL. We have a great amount of depth and flexibility now that we did not have before. Even if we don't move anyone I think this will play out just fine. If we do move someone and we stack up a couple injuries during the season and are playing a 5th/6th/7th outfielder like we did last year at times we might end up wishing we had the depth back. I think Cain could almost fall into that "when" category as well, hopefully, they both won't be hurt at the same time.
  12. SURVIVOR...that is all.
  13. In a perfect world, yes. In Brewer Nation, not so much.
  14. Zach Davies (oblique) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Friday. That's positive news given that he was just diagnosed with a left oblique strain on Wednesday. "I’m not concerned," Davies told reporters Thursday morning in Brewers camp. "I’m pretty confident." The 25-year-old right-hander might be ready for the first week of the regular season. Source: Todd Rosiak on TwitterMar 8 - 10:47 AM ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stephen Vogt (shoulder) did plyometric throwing drills Thursday morning in Brewers camp. "Today was a huge, huge step in the right direction," Vogt said after the workout. He was diagnosed with a strained right shoulder in late February, but the Brewers seem to think the veteran catcher will be ready for the start of the regular season. 15. I don't know why they are fighting making the ball and glove logo the primary logo. Most love it, it is nostalgic and current as well. It is a brilliant logo, one of the best of all time imo.
  16. According to Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, the Twins recently made a two-year, $20 million offer to free agent Lance Lynn but it was a "non-starter." It was reported a week ago that Lynn had rejected an offer from the Twins, and now we know the numbers. The 30-year-old right-hander is presumably looking for something more in the three-year or four-year range, with a much higher average annual value than $10 million. But the calendar is moving quickly toward the opening of the 2018 regular season and Lynn will want to get into a major league camp soon to get properly stretched out. Lynn returned from Tommy John surgery last season to deliver a 3.43 ERA and 153 strikeouts in 186 1/3 innings with the Cardinals. He owns a strong 3.38 career ERA. 17. It feels like the majority of people here are severely overvaluing Walker.
  18. I respect and trust what he said, and there's no reason not to believe as it made sense for the Brewers to make that offer to Walker at that time. Anyway, personally I would still make that offer of 2/$20 to Walker now, I've absolutely no confidence in Villar bouncing back to his 2016 numbers or even close to it. Why would we bid against ourselves? Dude isn't getting any interest, and you want to throw 20 Million in his direction? I think he is lucky to get 2 years at 10 Million total at this point. I'd rather roll with Villar and see if he can turn it around.
  19. Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that Keon Broxton is drawing more trade interest from teams than Domingo Santana. Santana's name has been mentioned often as a potential trade piece, especially after the Brewers traded for Christian Yelich and signed Lorenzo Cain. However, Haudricourt hears that Broxton is the one clubs are asking about more because he's cheaper, has speed, can play center field and has an option remaining. Broxton is a career .226/.317/.422 hitter but was a 20/20 player last season, and his power/speed combo would make him interesting again in fantasy if he's dealt somewhere where he has an easier path to playing time. 20. KeithStone, I think most people who play fantasy sports understand that, key word: most.
  21. I want no part of Lynn, but I have warmed up to the idea of Cobb. Boras and Arrieta can go pound sand for all I care.
  22. Unless Miley and Gallardo are lights out, they should not make our roster, period. Even then, I'd be skeptical. I'd much rather the young guys get their chance that to roster up a bunch of re-treads.
  23. According to Jon Morosi of MLB.com, the Nationals are still in the market for another major league catcher. The Nationals currently have Matt Wieters and Pedro Severino behind the dish at the big league level, but they don't appear to be content with that duo. There were rumblings that they attempted to acquire J.T. Realmuto from the Marlins this winter but scoffed at the asking price. Morosi notes that Jonathan Lucroy could be an option on the free agent market. Source: MLB.comMar 4 - 9:33 PM
  24. I'll believe it when I see it when it comes to Miley. I have zero faith in him or Gallardo, zero, none, nada, zilch... That (Miley) is just a lot of spring training nonsense talk from someone trying to make it with a team rather than be AAAA fodder, or be cut outright. Gallardo and Miley are toast, to think anything else is just wishful thinking.
  25. I have not been in on the Lucroy resigning bandwagon to this point, but don't we have to at the very least check into him? Maybe the bridge has been burned too badly?
