  1. I am fully expecting a trade in the off season similar to the Yelich deal a few years ago. Something that no one is expecting, that costs us some prospects, but gives us a top notch bat to add to the lineup for the next 3 or 4 years. Who that is, is anyone's guess, like I said, it will be something out of left field that we never saw coming... Only problem with this is that it just isn't enough. We will have to replace Adames bat, plus add another good bat. I think we are 2 solid bats and 2 top notch starting pitchers away from doing some serious damage in the NL come playoff time. We know the Phillies and Dodgers will be making big moves this off season. I fully expect the Cubs to join that party as well.
  2. One more thing, I am not against signing Adames to a 3 or 4 year deal, but 4 max. That alone probably takes us out of the running. In a perfect world, he gives us a nice hometown discount and he signs for 4 years at $15 million per. Problem is, someone desperate (Dodgers) will probably add another 40 million to that number, or better yet, another 2 years plus 60 million, making it impossible for us to consider. I can see the Dodgers going 6 years, 25 million per. Crazy talk, and out of our range. Imagine those last 3 years with that contract? *shudder* I do think that he would give us the chance to match any offer he may get, but in the end, no matter how much he likes it here, money will dictate his leaving or staying...
  3. I think we have to be really careful depending on Woodruff to be anything like his normal self. I can see him coming back and not immediately being the guy we are counting on. Hopefully by midseason, he is able to have some semblance to his old self, but if we put too much stock in counting on him to be our ace again, I think there is a big chance for major disappointment. Front office HAS to have a plan other than a wish and a prayer! They need to address this rotation in the off season. Going into the 2025 season like we did in 2024 will be truly disappointing. I am completely omitting Gasser from our plans, and hoping that he is fully back in 2026. To me, Peralta is just a guy now. A good #3, but he is not our staff ace this year, in fact, he is our #3 behind both Rea and Myers. Hard to imagine saying that back in April, but that is what has transpired. Hopefully our rotation looks something like this when we open the 2025 season: (I say hopefully, sincerely hoping that we add a legit frontline starter somehow, some way) 1. New starter 2. Peralta 3. Rea 4. Myers 5. Woodruff (I want nothing more than to be wrong about him) 6. Misiorowski added at some point in the first half. We just can't hang our hat on guys like Civale, Keuchel, and Montas if we are serious about winning a pennant. These stopgaps and band aid moves just aren't going to get us there.
  4. Hoskins isn't leaving. We can stop thinking he is, he's not.
  5. Well, was there a rookie pitcher the likes of Paul Skenes that year? In my opinion, there should be a pitching rookie of the year, and an offensive rookie of the year. Why they don't do it that way is beyond me.
  6. Well, the dude hasn't pitched since August 1st. He needed to get some work in, what better of a spot than with bases loaded for your closer who needs to throw some pitches?
  7. A ball to AAA ball all in one season!
  8. or how about "robots?" Do we really need to see that same post in every single game thread?
  9. I'd love to agree with this, but this team is running on fumes. What about this team makes you think things can get better? The afterthought starting rotation? The lackluster offense? The overused bullpen? The in over his head manager? You are right, every team goes through this, but a lot of those teams are just better than the Brewers. You bring up the Phillies and Dodgers, but their rosters don't even come close to comparing to ours. We know those teams will rebound based on the talent up and down the roster. Our team is lacking in so many areas that a rebound is far from a given.
  10. Cinci not wasting any time to try out their new toy... Reds recalled OF Joey Wiemer from Triple-A Louisville. Wiemer was acquired by the Reds in the deal for Frankie Montas at the deadline. The outfielder is up while Will Benson is away on paternity leave.
  11. If anyone expected anything other than what we have gotten from guys like Civale, Keuchel, and Montas, I'm not sure what world you are living in. We signed one guy for $1, and probably overpaid in prospects for the other two. They are what they are. Bottom of the barrel guys who we were hoping and praying would be able to eat some innings, and hold it together. If Civale and Montas were all we were going to do at the deadline, then why bother at all? (Yes, I know we got Mears too) Seriously, what did we really do to improve our playoff chances? Meh, it is what it is.
  12. I have nothing against Fedde as a person, but I'm pretty damn happy his debut as a Cardinal went to hell...
  13. This can go in three directions: 1. Montas pitches an excellent game, and everyone praises our front office. 2. Montas gets shelled, and the board implodes! 3. Montas pitches a meh game, making it impossible to form an opinion.
  14. I tried to message you, and it says you are not allowed to receive messages.
  15. A few things ; Wilken was hit in the face.....................by a pitch! There was a decent chance he didn't play again this season, but he has gutted it out and is doing his best. I would expect him to be back full force next year, I would expect Turang to move to SS, and Ortiz to 2B I don't think it's a slam dunk that Ortiz is at SS fulll time next year. Frelick is not a 3B. No matter what kind of novelty this idea has become, if we have o resort to Frelick's bat playing 3B, things have gone wrong, really wrong.
  16. He didn't set himself up, he made a post that at the time had merit. Pretty lame to drudge it up and criticize him for it now.
  17. @82brewcrew82 Tried to message you, but says you can't receive messages... Weird.
  18. Heading to T-Rats game this afternoon rather than watch Freddy pitch...I don't need the frustration. This of course ensures Freddy will pitch a gem since I'm not going to watch! You are welcome Brewers fans!
  19. Goes both ways. If you are going to make an argument for the team being average or above average, you can cherry pick for that too. This board does a great job at all 3 when trying to prove a point.
  20. What did we offer? I'm assuming the Dodgers made the best offer, or Flaherty wouldn't be going there.
  21. Can Wiemer pitch?
  22. I am shocked the prospect hugging Orioles made this trade. That is some decent firepower heading to the Marlins.
  23. So, if Mears is for real, we are looking at Mears in the 7th, Megill the 8th, and Williams in the 9th for the playoffs? That is pretty awesome, and can really lock things down once we get to the 7th. Hudson when healthy for the 6th? Now we need about 2 starters to get us there... lol
