  1. this is hard to watch. Can't get a break right now.
  2. 1. Brewers 2. White Sox - I like American League baseball better, even though I know it's not as pure. When the Brewers moved, they became my AL team (I grew up on the border). Plus, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. 3. Dodgers - I'd love Torre to stick to the Yankees 4. Phillies - I have lots of Philly fan friends for some reason, so for my friends' sakes... 5. I want all the remaining teams to lose big. I can't cheer for another expansion team to win it before the Crew, Anaheim is L.A. without the Torre factor, enough with the Red Sox already, and I want the century of suffering to end in more suffering for the Cubs.
  3. I know people here don't need to hear the rational arguments for or against Ben's overall quality. I do think it's unfortunate some of the things I've heard less knowledgeable fans say about Ben the last few weeks. People forget 2002-2004 when he was consistently one of the better pitchers the Brewers have ever put on the mound. He pitched well, and a lot of innings, for terrible teams and I think it's simply unfortunate that it put such a strain on his arm. Now when the team is good, he's worn down. I also think Ben gets punished by pitching in the context of Brett Favre. Casual sports fans in Wisconsin (and everywhere really) are moved by a guy playing hurt. Ben is big enough to say he can't play when he's hurt because he doesn't want to hurt the team. I've always said this, and I think Saturday demonstrates my point. Favre wasted entire Packer seasons by playing hurt, Ben let somebody else go out when he thought his body wouldn't let him play. But, in the end, PLAYOFFS BABY!
  4. thank you thank thank you thank you thank you!
  5. Unbelievable. I'm in shock. Thank you Brewers!

  7. please, please, please, please. Just please. Hold on.

  9. My in laws are in town, so I didn't get to see last night's game. It's on national tv today but I live in Mets territory, plus my in laws are in town. Even though I'll end up missing the series/games where it could happen, please Brewers, please do it today. Also, I'm ordering a Seth McClung jersey because in the future it will bring positive vibes.
  10. My vent is that I just don't know how to feel right now. A few weeks ago I expected to be content with a wild card birth at this point. A few days ago I was resigned to another year of futility. Now, only a game and a half back of the notoriously choking Mets, I'm realistic but somewhat hopeful. Why can't we just get some resolution!
  11. Today in the Syracuse, NY paper (Post Standard) the Brewers were mentioned as a team that might bring it's AAA team here in 2010. I don't know what the Nashville situation is, but from this thread it seems the Brewers aren't happy there. In the article I read, it sounded more like the owner just shooting from the hip and mentioning the Brewers, but maybe not. Anyone ever hear Syracuse as a possibility? The Syracuse Chiefs have been with Toronto for about 30 years, but they've ended that (for now). They were trying to get the Mets, but it looks like the Mets will go to Buffalo. Anyway, long story short, for me the Brewers here would be a lot more fun than the Mets. Here is a link to the article: http://www.syracuse.com/n...ld_sell_mets_stake_i.html
  12. Has the press conference started? I'm waiting for it on ESPNews
  13. All political posts have been hidden. I thought the original post about facial expressions wasn't outrageous, and hoped it wouldn't spin off, but clearly that was foolish. Please refrain from further delving into politics, everyone. Thanks.I know this is off topic; I swear no more posts about it after this one. My post was meant to compare the leadership styles of Bush and Yost, I didn't mean it to be negative and didn't think it was. In baseball and politics, I think leaders tend to get too much blame and too much credit. At this point I'd also like to recommend the book 'Avoiding Politics' by Nina Eliasoph, and I promise, no more remotely political posts ever. Go Brewers!
  14. Any guesses on who the ESPN article is quoting here, "I think we have sucked in September so far and I don't think it's his fault that we can't hit or pitch right now but something had to change," a Brewers player told ESPN.com's Amy K. Nelson.
  15. While I always appreciate rluz's objectivity about the game, speaking about being a fan, last night was very difficult. Being a fan is very much about emotions and symbolism. Watching the Brewers this weekend was simply depressing, then seeing Zambrano throw a no hitter in MP with all those Cub fans jumping up and down was just a kick in the gut. So, it's true, the Brewers only lost 2 games and still have a fighting chance with 12 games to go, which is more than we've come to expect over the last 16 years, but the emotions of yesterday were about as bad as it gets.
  16. I guess this a possibility. I know here in Syracuse, NY the AAA affiliate's stadium staff is mostly (if not entirely) local. But, the teams operate their affiliates differently. Here the stadium is owned/operated/maintained by the county and Blue Jays aren't involved in daily stuff.
  17. I'm sure this has been said, I haven't read all 6 pages of posts, but clearly this is unbelievably unfair to the Astros. This is a team on a tear that not only loses 3 home games, but has those home games turned into home game for the opponent. I know Round Rock is fairly close to the coast as well, but is there any reason they couldn't have played these games there? Any reason they couldn't have used another Astros minor league stadium or another AAA stadium in the southwest? Clearly it would be much smaller, but at the same time it would be a lot of fun for those fans and it would be a home game for the Astros. I once saw the Diamondbacks play against their A team (The Silverhawks) in South Bend, IN (Yount was coaching for them at the time). It was packed and it was a blast to see major leaguers in a minor league setting. I think MLB really messed this up.
  18. Fido beat me to it by 2 minutes! Seriously, I know this is cliche, but if the players need someone to light a fire that is the problem.
  19. A lead going into the 9th. I'm about to leave work, what will the score be when I get home. It will make the drive so much more interesting.
  20. Lot's of good stuff mentioned so far. Mine - Old 97's, Too Far To Care.
  21. That's fantastic. I was just saying a few days ago, I wish I knew how to make movies with my computer.
  22. I feel like I'm being pummeled. Kick me while I'm down why don't you Brewers! edit: at least it's a day game so it's helping me avoid work and I won't spend my free time tonight in agony.
  23. It's got to get to a pitcher watching this offense and bullpen and knowing you've got to be near perfect to keep the team in the game every time out.
  24. Ha! Whaley Blubber!
