  1. I asked McCalvy if this sign lights up like the previous one did, and he said it does.
  2. You only have 8 batters listed including the pitcher. Who's playing shortstop? Unless you consider our present SS situation to be that bad! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  3. Thanks for that explanation. With such limited knowledge on advanced metrics and projections, I automatically assumed that said projections were only based off of the previous year. Makes more sense now!
  4. I've seen this in a couple places now, but why is Marcum only projected to pitched 138 innings next year, when last year he threw 195.1? Is he being projected to be hurt? Bill James projects him to throw 203 innings next year. Either way, 138 seems very low.
  5. I found this interview with Zack Greinke. I'm not sure how old it is, but it gives a peek into his personality and some of his quirkiness. It starts a little slow, but it gets pretty funny. http://www.thedashow.com/mp3/da-greinke.mp3
  6. Apparently Betancourt will be the starting SS, from TH:
  7. Josh, It's hard to see players that you watch come up through the system leave. I, for one, while happy that we landed Greinke, am sad to see Jefress and Cain leave. I was looking forward to them being big contributors in years to come. I wish them nothing but the best and look forward to following them in the future.
  8. A one year deal according to Morosi.
  9. Joel Sherman talks about how many people within baseball legitimately believe that a third team is bidding for Cliff Lee. The first two teams he suspects are the Angels and Nationals. Then he says this: Not that I think signing Cliff Lee is even a remote possibility or the wisest decision, but this idea of the Brewers being involved doesn't seem to want to go away.
  10. I realize that the Greinke trade talk has kind of been squashed and is a pipe dream, but Heyman just tweeted: Full article can be found here. I still think it's an obvious long shot for the Brewers, but it seems as if they still are trying to make something work.
  11. I found this link on Egan. He's 6'7, throws a four seamer, change, sinker, and sinker-slider hybrid. Can't find his velocity at this point. Here is his fangraphs stat page. Edit: According to this Orioles forum, he gets up to 93 MPH, but usually sits in the 90-92 mph range. It's his sink and movement that make him effective. He seems quite similar to Kameron Loe.

  13. The deal is reportedly 7 years and 142 million. MLBTraderumors link
  14. How so? Chances are the Brewers didn't have the combination of players that the Royals would want. It doesn't mean that the Royals didn't like Lawrie, they probably didn't like who would have come with him from the Brewers. The Jays, however, likely have some higher profile pitching prospects to go along with Lawrie that the Royals would want. That's not an indictment on Lawrie; or Melvin for that matter. It's simply a matter of what additional players the Royals would want.
  15. Haudricourt Twitter: "A source in Canada just confirmed to me that Brett Lawrie indeed is in the deal to Toronto for Shaun Marcum. He is Brewers' No. 1 prospect."
  16. Former Cedarburg standout Chip Rank is a freshman on Northern Iowa. Looks like he gets a decent amount of playing time too, about 18 minutes a game. He's averaging 4 points and 6 rebounds in their first two games. Not bad for a freshman. That's Gasser-like.
  17. ?? New manager thread: http://brewersfandemonium...eply/659546#reply-659546 20 posts/page Blank page Last post I read was MJLiverock,October 23, 2010 6:24 PM. Clicking on the baseball link should have taken me to ELCABALLO45's post fromOctober 23, 2010 7:24 P, which read: "According to Foxsports.com the final two candidates are, Joey Cora and Bob Melvin. http://mlbbuzz.yardbarker.com/" This also occurs every time that I click on the baseball in this thread.
  18. According to Haudricourt, Gord Ash informed him that Lawrie "elected not to play."
  19. TwinsBrewersWorldSeries, You're advocating for Melvin to make all of these moves. But have you seen the returns that these teams have received for the likes of Oswalt and Haren? If Melvin traded Hart of Fielder for such a return he would be ostracized. I would rather he hold on to those players than get meddling prospects in return. You have also been clamoring for Melvin to make these trades, especially for Dan Haren. But you refuse to acknowledge the fact that Haren had a no-trade clause and his preference was to stay out West. Even if the Brewers made the best offer of any team, Haren likely wouldn't have waived his no-trade clause to come here. The same would have happened in regards to Oswalt. You seem to want Melvin to make a move simply to make a move. Whether that's your intention or not, that's how I and likely others are taking your posts. This isn't MLB The Show where you can add enough sub-par players and trade for Roy Halladay or Albert Pujols. No matter how badly Melvin might want to make a deal, he cannot help but watch from the sideline as teams give lesser players to receive these impact players. And considering the returns that some of these bigger deals have brought in, I'm more than fine with Melvin holding onto Fielder and Hart rather than trading them just for the sake of trading them and getting mediocrity in return.
  20. I was there. It did in fact go into the bottom of Bernie's slide and bounced out. It wasn't into the Kalahari landing, but the last part of the yellow slide. It was impressive.
  21. In this three game series, the Brewers scored nearly as many runs as the Houston Astros have scored all season long. Houston has scored 40 runs going into tonight, and the Brewers scored 36 in this three game series.
  22. Ueck: "What did you do today?" "Went to the Pirates game." "Oh man..."
  23. So far, in this three game series, the Brewers have scored nearly as many runs as the Houston Astros have all year (40-32).
  24. I'll surmise two reasons why he cannot crack the rotation: Ken Macha & Jeff Suppan's salary. After the handling of Gamel last season I have very little reason to believe that Macha will play youngsters unless his hand is forced: see Escobar, Alcides. In addition, the Brewers are going to try to get as much out of their investment into Suppan as they possibly can, even if he isn't the best pitcher out of the two, or three if you include Narveson. That is why I fear the day when Braddock called up. It's not that I don't want to see him on the team, I simply have no confidence that Macha will use him and use him properly. As far as Melvin is concerned, I have no problem with his signing of Wolf this off-season. But I don't understand why he would spend 7 million on Hawkins when the bullpen wasn't the problem last year. Sure the bullpen fell apart late in the season, but it was only because the starting pitching couldn't go deep into games, thus you have a taxed bullpen. I would have rather seen him spend more money on another starting pitcher, ala Sheets, and let a young guy like Braddock or Axford etc., work in the bullpen. It'd likely cost the same as what we're paying right now, but you'd likely get even better production than we will out of Davis + Hawkins.
