  1. I miss Kevin Hunt. He was good. Worlds better than Rod Burks.
  2. Rolen for Encarnacion and Alonso. Link
  3. There are quack chiropractors just like there are some quack doctors. So I think it is wise to do research on chiropractors just as you would a doctor. We tend to trust a doctor more who attended a well respected medical school. So the same could be said for those who attend well respected chiropractic schools. My family and I go to a chiropractor, and he went to a well respected chiropractic school. We were at first skeptical about using a chiropractor. But when our daughter was born her hip was a bit out of place. The pediatrician who checked on her while she was in the hospital didn't see anything wrong. We even went back to him because she would constantly cry when riding in the car and would be constipated for days at a time, but the pediatrician didn't find anything. He thought she just had colic. So we went to the chiropractor as a last ditch effort, and he found her hip was out of socket, and it was in the process way causing her constipation. So no more than 30 minutes after every appointment (which at that time was twice a week to correct her hip), she would have a blowout in her diaper. Later, our daughter had a fever for five days. It seemingly broke 3 times, only to come back. We went to our chiropractor, he adjusted her, and the next day her fever was gone. My wife had a history of migrane headaches, and now after going to a chiropractor once a month for the last few years, she hasn't had a migrane since. I can only share my experiences, but I would recommend chiropractic to anyone. But do your homework before going to just any chiropractor.
  4. To be fair, he said that no one should be punished before 2004 (which is when he tested positive, coincidentally). He was saying people who test positive now should be suspended for a year.
  5. If I would have been drinking something while reading that comment, it would have gone all over my computer screen. I understand that people are loyal to their teams to a fault, and typically don't care for the players of rivals/opposing teams, but sometimes the homerism is laughable.

  7. Duncan could be a fairly decent DH. I don't know much about the Red Sox, but perhaps he could be Big Papi's replacement.
  8. Heyman expanded his "tweet" with this interesting article, which includes quotes from anonymous MLB executives. Here is a quote that I found most interesting:
  9. TH goes off on the Sveum suspension. This might be one of the first times I actually agree with one of his rants.
  10. I think the frustration from those with this point of view, a sentiment that I share, is that Melvin did nothing to balance an all right-handed (minus Prince), all or nothing offense that was horrible when it needed to be at it's best. And this offense has proven again that they are very streaky. So while he signed an average starting pitcher and an iconic closer, he did next to nothing to improve the offense, or make it more consistent.
  11. Not sure if this fits in this thread or not, but I read this interesting tidbit from Brandon Funston of Yahoo Sports: He makes some interesting points. I'm not sure that Salome would be able to out-produce Rivera at this point. Would Salome be a better alternative to Kendall?
  12. Does anyone else find it extremely interesting that Hardy is not pinch hitting here, but Rivera is? I know I do...
  13. Is this a hint, or just speculation? And I would love to get Branyan back, even though he went to Seattle with the stated purpose of playing everyday. That would be sweet.
  14. That's what I don't understand. As a basketball referee, I get chirped and yelled at countless times during a game. But if I screamed back at every coach or player whom I had on me all night, I'd never officiate another meaningful game ever again. I have heard the argument that, "Umpires can yell back because they get grief all the time." Baloney. It's unprofessional. I think other officials in other sports get more grief than umpires, and you don't see them getting into verbal confrontations with players. So why, then, do umpires do it, and why do they get away with it? And as far as officials not having egos, I don't know any official, in any sport (myself included) that doesn't have some sort of ego. You almost have to have one.
  15. I was at the Beloit game today. Adams was pretty good through four. Then in the bottom of the fifth he got roughed up a bit and couldn't finish. But he did leave with a 4-3 lead. I'm not sure how the Snappers website has Meadows with the win, unless it's because Adams didn't make it through five full. Overall I didn't think Adams was bad. But then again, I'm no scout. As for Lawrie, I was impressed with is plate discipline. I wasn't keeping track, but I'm certain that in every at bat he had the count in his favor 3-1. His first inning hit was a nice RBI single to right center over the second baseman's head. He looks so calm and collected at the plate. Definitly seemed to be head and shoulders above many of the players on the field today.
  16. My question is, what MLB ready pitching do the Cubs have? What prospects do the Cubs have to offer period, besides Vitters? The Cubs have nowhere near the prospects the Sox had to pull this deal off IMHO.
  17. Hmmm...middle America; National League team; one that's currently in first place and has one of the best records in MLB? Oh yeah, there's this team called the Milwaukee Brewers who fit that criteria.
  18. Maybe they are trading Bill Hall for anything they can get... EDIT: What about Bill Hall for Mark DeRosa?
  19. I hope he's still a Rattler through Memorial Day Weekend, when they play in Beloit. I've got tickets and am really excited to see both Lawrie and Green.
  20. What about "G-Money?"
  21. I too am sickened by this news. He was doing well. Here's to a speedy recovery, and a full comeback next year. Maybe this is better served for the trade rumors/proposal forum, but could Roberts be a candidate to replace weeks?
  22. I agree. I thought it was a perfect opportunity to let Gamel get his feet wet. It was a 4-0 game. Perhaps a little bit of pressure off. Facing a RH pitcher. I'm baffled as to why he wasn't brought in. He needs to start/get some AB's before we head into Minnesota. Rock made that point in the broadcast today, as you cannot bring a guy up, not give him a chance, and then expect him to pick up where he left off when we play in Minnesota. I wish/hope Haudricourt or McCalvy pressed Macha on this decision.
  23. http://images.yuku.com/image/gif/265259f6df82c9eab0068e5b94c508c6cf7d565.gif As Bob Uecker would say: "Nice...real nice!"
  24. Webb would be a nice addition. Any idea what it would take to get him? Is his current injury a cause for future concern though? I see that he's averaged about 226 IP in his 7 year career. But I'm not one to know if that's a lot of wear and tear or not. He did just turn 30, so it would seem like he has some good years left.
