  1. I also thought Sveum should have gotten the job and was perplexed as to why he did not.
  2. The aforementioned Trapeze show was recorded for a live album entitled "You Are The Music, We Are Just The Band." My picture appeared on the album cover (along with tens of thousands of other people).
  3. What's embarrassing about that? Pre Michael McDonald, the Doobs were a good band. If it was during the Michael McDonald era I hope and pray that the scars will heal at some point and allow you to live a full and normal life. My first live show was Trapeze, in 1975 at the Overton Park Shell in Memphis TN. Also saw KISS for the first time at the Memphis & Mid South Coliseum later in the year. The following year and at the same venue, I saw KISS again as well as the best concert ever in the history of everything ever: UFO, Golden Earring and Blue Oyster Cult. The evening ended with all 3 bands on stage, where they did about a 20 minute rendition of "Godzilla."
  4. Last night was a good start. They had every opportunity to fold to a pretty good Pirates team and didn't. Hopefully tonight they can administer a good beating and make a statement.
  5. Mike, Looking at Logan's link, I have the tools and equipment to do such a job rather easily, but some are not portable and I don't relish the thought of going to Milwaukee. If you can get the inserts shown in the aforementioned link (or suitable replacements) and want to take a ride down to Twin Lakes, we can drill and tap the bobbles here, provided the bobbles have a solid base that can be drilled and tapped. More precisely, you can drill and tap them with me looking over your shoulder. My friends and I call this the "buddy system." None of us want to work on stuff for money, because then it's no longer a hobby, it's a job; but, we'll help just about anybody do just about anything as long as they're willing to lay their hands on the tools and get a little dirty.
  6. If I remember correctly, Sheets' conditioning (or lack thereof) was joked about often by Brewers' players, most often and most notably by Sheets himself. I don't think that really had anything to do with some of the freak injuries he had, just thought I'd add it to the discussion.
  7. I haven't broken my left leg, but there's still time and I'm still stupid.
  8. I believe we are part of a giant being. Atoms look like solar systems. The universe is expanding because our giant being is still growing. The "big bang" was when the sperm penetrated the egg. I also believe that each of our bodies house innumerable universes and that this stretches on, both up and down, infinitely and without time. This works with evolution and with creationism. Everybody's right.
  9. Putting up hangdog performances since 2007 Yes!
  10. The worst part of Greinke's ejection, and the aftermath, was the smug, self-satisfied smirk on the face of that ump. He appeared to be quite proud of himself.
  11. Let us hope it's contagious.
  12. Having seen the movie "Dolphin Tale", I've decided that I would very much like to have a Pelican. http://www.tampabay.com/multimedia/archive/00226/pin_nayrufus061712_226889c.jpg
  13. Very sorry to read this, Bikeage77. I can only imagine your anger and frustration. Let us hope that the thief is not only arrested, but that he resists arrest... heartily.
  14. Some people find it a little odd that I talk to my motorcycle. I find it utterly preposterous that they don't talk to theirs.
  15. Considering everything I've ever read about what motivates Braun, I can only hope that this means he'll go on to hit 112 home runs this year.
  16. And so it begins... http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/07/03/brewers-blow-9-2-lead-against-marlins-win-13-12-in-10-innings/
  17. I can understand the caution. If it does rain inside the stadium and then they close the roof, the humidity could quickly approach 100%.
  18. Further a/c could also be used strictly for dehumidification. If it were 90 degrees in the stadium, by the time you brought the temp down to 88, you would have removed a lot of the humidity. I think a lot of you are questioning the value of the roof based on how little it has been needed this year. Think about the years when it has been needed so much that other teams have even had to play here because the weather was so bad early in the season. I also think the players, especially the SP, love the fact that there's never a rain delay or a rain out.
  19. I was one of the Steamfitters on the job, installing HVAC piping & related equipment. The A/C is a standard chilled-water system. All of the piping was sized so that more coils could be added in the future. Iirc, there is already enough chiller capacity to cool the entire place and currently runs as primary/backup. I left 3 days before the big crane went down. It was quite possibly the worst job I ever worked.
  20. Fielder left? That may sound far-fetched, but I imagine that Prince would have just about killed someone by now for all the sloppy play we're seeing. I don't know that we have anyone currently on the roster or the coaching staff that "demands excellence." Of course I also don't know that we don't currently have anyone like that, but I'm starting to believe that Prince brought a lot more to the table than just his big bat. Everything everyone has said, said specifically Prince did NOT do anything like that. It was Counsell, Hawkins, Kotsay, etc. NOT Prince. The same way everyone says "Braun leads by example." I never saw any of them jump all over Parra for trying to slink back into the clubhouse after stinking up the joint, nor did I ever witness any of them play with intensity or passion anywhere near that of Prince. They may have provided "veteran leadership" and 2 of them were definitely "Roenicke's sounding boards" but that doesn't equate to them demanding excellence.

  22. While that certainly has its appeal amongst some Brewers fans, I don't know that we could inflict it on the masses. I'm all good with going for hangdog starting tomorrow if others are. I really think we can do this. Does anyone remember cigarettes being referred to as "smokey treats" during the mid to late 80's? Some friends and I started that one under rather dubious circumstances. My buddy Joe The Barber then picked it up from me, and he was friends with "The Sports Guys" on 93.3FM. They started using it on the air, and next thing ya know, it was everywhere.
  23. "What a hangdog performance by (team name) today." "Weeks is really looking hangdog at the plate lately."
  24. Roenicke's job, in a nutshell, is to get the very most out of the players on his roster. He's not doing that, plain and simple.
