  1. "Roenicke said he wouldn't hesitate to use him should the need arise, and that he didn't necessarily project as just a LOOGY. "He's got some funk for a right-hander, too, because he's got a screwball," Roenicke said. "The velocity's not going to be real high, 81 to 84, screwball and curveball."" This guy is not a LOOGY, but Braddock is? Are you freaking kidding me? Just how unaware is RRR?
  2. Why is it not okay to direct sarcasm at Wolf anyway? If it's funny, who cares?
  3. "Awful on defense and hits just as bad" I'll give you that he's bad at D, but give me a break on the hitting. It's not even remotely close.
  4. "Wilson/Counsell have shown A LOT better AB's then Yuni, mixed with arguably better defense" Counsell is without a doubt, 100% guaranteed, a better defender than Yuni, jmeks. Wilson is probably a better defender, but is by no means good.
  5. "which is mind boggling considering how long he's been in baseball." My opinion is that this does not help someone become a better manager. If anything, it works against them, as old-school lines of thought typically aren't shaken.
  6. "Then bring in Axford. " Yep. That was one thing I loved about Macha, willing to use the best reliever in a high leverage situation. He did it with Braddock and he did it with Axford. If nothing else, Macha was decent with managing a bullpen.
  7. I completely agree with you on this, TheCrew07 (That's rare!). If they gave him a shot to have him make it through the season and get surgery then, why in the world would you just not get surgery right away? It's better for the organization and it's better for Mark. This is crazy to me.
  8. The comments from that article blow my mind. 2 years later, with a WS win, and they're still talking about "retribution" needing to happen. All they talk about is having class, and they are completely unaware to how unbelievably hypocritical they are. The Giants just made the teams I hate list.
  9. "Roenicke's job is to put the best team on the field, and he failed to do that tonight. " And to make decisions in game that most improve the team's chance of winning. He definitely did not do that tonight.
  10. Loe is fine in the 8th, the problem lies in that he is just not good if he pitches more than 2 days in a row. They also had Braddock and Hawkins very available. Blows my mind.
  11. If we were looking to quantify games that RRR has lost, you might be able to pin this one on him.
  12. "I bought a cheap Dell laptop 4 years ago." http://images.cheezburger.com/completestore/2009/11/22/129033851144539231.jpg
  13. Kotsay starting in CF and batting 2nd again today. Ugh, I thought this was over.
  14. Anyone notice that Plush untucked after winning against the Cardinals? Rickie too. I love it. Screw the Cardinals.
  15. "No, no, no ,no and again no. Counsell can't be the big half of a platoon. " Why not? At this point, the Brewers have 3 SSs on the roster. If Counsell plays decently, great, keep starting him. If he fails, gets hurt, or breaks down, they still have 2 relatively viable options in Wilson and the Yunibomber. Losing Counsell is not going to hurt the team much if it happens. If it allows the Brewers to win a game or so extra over the course of those starts, I'm all for it.
  16. "Does anybody know if Kottaras has any experience in the outfield, at 3B, or 1B? " I wish this were possible, but it's not. He could play 1B, but anything more than that is a recipe for disaster.
  17. "I will argue until the day that I die that unless you are talking about an elite hitter hitting in front of a non elite hitter (Prince for example), walks are mostly a product of the pitcher." There are 2 things wrong with this: 1) You're wrong. Both the hitter and the pitcher play a part in the walk. Let's say a batter gets down 0-2 and walks in 10 pitches after fouling off 4 balls in the zone. Was that the pitcher's fault? I'm not going to say that the pitcher plays no part, because that's wrong too, but give me a break. 2) No amount of evidence/logic/reasoning can change your stance according to your own words. That's a problem.
  18. From that article RockCo found: "but he signed with the Cardinals, moved into the starting rotation and went 3-6 with a solid 3.84 ERA in 7013 innings" He was quite the workhorse for the Cards last year.
  19. "So here's what you need to do: Throw it waist high with no movement at 87 MPH. Eventually they'll stop hitting homeruns and make an out. Repeat 21 times and you're through 7 innings." Great advice.
  20. Tony Plush is a 15 year old class clown in a 30 year old's body.
  21. "I'm thinking the pitcher may have been jawing at him" I agree. With the way he was looking back at the pitcher even after stepping on home plate made me think words were being exchanged. I wish they had a wider angle, as I suspect we could have seen the pitcher staring him down/yelling at him the entire trot.
  22. "If I were the Marlins I would IBB Fielder in any situation with 2 outs, except for bases loaded." I hope they do this. I really really really hope they do this.
  23. "And I'd prefer J.J. Hardy over the both of them." Yes, but JJ would be a starter. This is Bill Hall for a bench/Util role. JJ also costs more than league minimum.
  24. Braddock was that guy last year, adam. He's been injured and significantly less effective this year, though. That makes things tough.
  25. "They'd be bench players on this team" But they're starters on the #1 team in the AL!
