  1. sorry if this is a thread hijack, but it seems the easiest way to solve the "pinstripe" bobble is a BIN from an ebay seller with plump inventory. i've bought from the seller before and i'll be doing it again this year (maybe all year). i think its been addressed before how one individual gets such a huge advantage, i'm not even going to wonder. just glad this is an option.
  2. this makes me uncomfortable. i remember as a kid being accosted by monster / profiteers. but i dont know if this action can be stopped (or should be stopped) i wouldnt consider the ticket hustle / scalp routine much different than this game. (i suppose the economy of scale is 10% of secondary ticket market)
  3. at one point i noticed folks were giving these away on craigslist. theres a book called "mint condition" which kinda documented whats happened to baseball card collecting. i think everyone knows its become all about the "insert" cards which is basically legalized gambling.
  4. this would be a fun topic to expand upon. i think best case scenario was cleveland, when they moved from the dump (mistake by the lake) and went into utopia of something like 500+ sellouts in a row at "the jake". (anyone remember that run, every announcer couldnt get over the effect of the addition of the rock and roll hall of fame what a renaissance cleveland was experiencing) i distinctly remember first year miller park 2001 attending a 2nd series game vs houston astros. that there were tens of thousands of empty seats and a leaky roof. i also remember going to many brewers merchandise liquidation sales 2003 offseason with awesome commemorative items for $1 - $5 when team was as unpopular as it ever was (critics = oh what a debacle it was to spend hundreds of millions of dollars on a sports team facility). fast forward ten years. i dont think youll find anyone who says that investment to maintain MLB was a dreadful mistake. funny that right now, the same debate perpetuates about maintaining NBA downtown.
  5. got a glimpse of the guy from spring training living in AZ. not heard him much but from what i've seen perfect fit. he's got a face for radio. all kidding aside, when i'd tuned into a brewers broadcast and heard him read thru some cards, i thought the quality far was worse than a fill-in at a minor league game. lets just say - there is definitely some room for improvement. from being in the 2nd chair and starting at his young age, i'm sure he's in a position where he's adjusting and probably takes his feedback seriously. i'd expect for him to be much diff getting into june, year 2, etc. the game winning call on mlb.com was better than i expected. (as i expected the worst)
  6. anyone have an extra 2010 version. please send me PM
  7. sadly enough, i think i saw a 1992 magnet schedule on ebay once. it may go quite a ways back. maybe a phone call to the milwaukee brewers promotional staff? they might have the means to investigate that better.
  8. so its very obvious walking into maryvale, there is a beer vendor who cherrypicks the customers on their way in.. "THE SHIVER". i'd been going years to the games and barely buying concessions, it figures that i should have been paying more attention. nah, i just walk over to the designated driver booth for my free soda. so last tues it was john axford bobblehead and naturally i mention to kent - they should be giving out some of your bobbleheads. this much i learned: his niece sold one for $450. (likely to a BF.netter?) a collector told him that eventually his piece could be worth up to $1000 (that pretty much closes the door from the source) good luck everyone.
  9. that made no sense why game was on a tape delay. those hanging in the "charro lodge" in right field were probably like *** when they noticed the progress of game was not live.
  10. and of course the bf.net paparazzi was there. (i've got a ton more but i'm too incompetent to postprocess.) http://i846.photobucket.com/albums/ab24/pepsimax999/maryvale.jpg
  11. if possible - best chance for autos are the practices before games start. before the players grow tiresome of interacting w fans.
  12. that is a "hard-to-find" bobble!!
  13. i figured that might be the best way to get to the biggest audience (of local wisc collectors) and sell directly. i tried that route myself to see if i might make any local trades when i've been back in wi. yeah, everyone had low-balled me. maybe thats the 100% craigslist trend.
  14. i'd post it on milwaukee craigslist and ask ppl to make me an offer..
  15. july 20. brewers @ dbacks. bottom of 9, tied 2-2 and saito comes in. anyone remember that moment? maybe kevin towers was impressed. ------ Arizona - Bottom of 9th SCORE Takashi Saito pitching for Milwaukee MIL ARI T Saito relieved F Rodriguez. 2 2 J Upton hit a ground rule double to deep right center. 2 2 J Upton to third on wild pitch by T Saito. 2 2 C Young grounded out to third. 2 2 R Roberts grounded out to third. 2 2 K Johnson intentionally walked. 2 2 S Burroughs hit for D Hernandez. 2 2 S Burroughs flied out to center. 2 2
  16. Turbo - I'd looked several times & old mags dont pop up often. Brewer Super - This is the one from opening day which had pix of players last 4 decades (aaron, cooper, yount, sabathia). Appreciate any help. What is Gonzaga Hall?
  17. still looking for one. just curious if anyone might have an extra lying around!
  18. that elvis bobblehead - i suppose if that price continues to rise, seller hopes to induce some fan with "money is no object" kind of wealth.
  19. did you try listing on ebay? you might get $400+ gross (before FVF etc)
  20. 1. Nyjer Morgan (beast mode) 2. Yovani Gallardo 3. Jonathan Lucroy 4. Bud Selig 5. Miller Keg Vendor 6. Racing Sausage one of these years might we see a bonnie brewer, wendy selig-prieb, diamond dancer, or morganna the kissing bandit!!!
  21. and they wont ID anyone to verify birthday.
  22. does anyone have one of these?? mine is all crumpled up. i'd love to trade or buy one. (i'll be in milwaukee for oct 1&2 - hopefully for games 1&2 of nlds)
  23. just reading thru the thread again. yep, i'll be paying one of the regulars or iceman clan for this piece!!!
  24. the shiver!! i heard kent ranting about this at maryvale last march. now i know what he was talking about. ah, wish i could have this one no doubt. good for you guys who were able to get it! i'd have plenty of trade bait, but i'm sure it wont matter.
