  1. Escobar in everything but maybe slugging
  2. I don't have a problem showing Prince the money. It's better he gets it than overpaying a bunch of mediocre players.
  3. I don't see how splitting up The Red Sox and Yankees makes things more competitive for the rest of baseball besides the AL East besides making it more likely they both make the playoffs any given year.
  4. See, John Hammond does know what he's doing. We're just a hair behind the Bulls for the 6th seed in the east and if we can can play like we are the rest of the season, I think it's possible we could move past Toronto as well.
  5. Meeks played like how I'd imagine Dan Gadzuric would if he was a SG
  6. We wouldn't be guaranteed to make the playoffs with Murphy or Landry(pipedream) either. The Pacers didn't just want a salary dump. They wanted like Ridnour and Ilyasova and in the end we'd be creating another hole at back up PG(Do you really want to see Ivey or Bell getting a lot of minutes at PG?) while giving up a young player with potential in Ilyasova. Everybody loved the idea of getting Jordan Hill or Tyrus Thomas(Scott Skiles hates him) apparently, I don't see either of those two being the player Ilyasova will be. I wouldn't want give up a 1st round pick in what I hear is suppose to be a pretty strong draft. I just think the folk at realgm like being upset for the the sake of being upset. I don't know if I'd even want to post there now if I could. Actually I would, unban me. :-(
  7. Hammond had a good deadline in my opinion. Nothing to jump up and down about either way. We gave up very little talent and got an upgrade in John Salmons, a serviceable 3rd PG(Charlie Bell is like an anti PG, have you ever seen this guy pass on a fast break ever?) in Royal Ivey who has size and defense(something neither Jennings or Ridnour have), and Primoz Brezec can't be any worse than Francisco Elson.(Hammond had him in Detroit and trusts him) Plus we got a ton of 2nd round picks and the right to swap picks with Chicago this year. All good moves which should help the team. I'm disappointed we didn't address the 4 spot too but I don't see it as the end of the world. I'm glad we didn't give up a bunch for some one like Troy Murphy or Antawn Jamison. We still have Mbah A Moute(who is a more of a natural 4) and Ilyasova. Still need a big stronger rebounding PF but it's not like we had one before the deadline. Maybe sign a guy from the d-league or guy off the street like Mikki Moore, Melvin Ely, Sean Williams or whoever gets waived down the stretch. I don't know what some folks(the RealGM crowd) were expecting. Scott Skiles does not like Tyrus Thomas and Jordan Hill is terrible. We weren't going to get Murphy without giving up something of worth like Ridnour and Ilyasova. Getting Jason Thompson or Carl Landry is basically a pipe dream. We're a better team than we were before the deadline and there is no reason anybody should be upset.
  8. Looks good, should change the gray road jersey too. Can't I'm a huge fan of the current jersey/logo unlike most here. I prefer the retro stuff or a redesign incorporating it.
  9. Well maybe the Brewers can just move to Florida to avoid this tax. :-P
  10. Well, without Bud there would be no Brewers or Miller Park so he deserves the recognition in my opinion. Gotta admit tho, this is going to be an ugly statue lol.
  11. I really am going to miss Big Seth. I liked him from the time he got here throwing a 100 mph until the time he left. I hope he doesn't get booed when he comes to town. Maybe one day he'll be back with the team. That stuff about Macha is concerning. It's not like McClung is the only player to ever say this about him. Hopefully Macha will connect with his players better in year 2.
  12. So you have to park at the train station, pay for fare, wait for the train, ride the train at 79-110 mph(not really high speed rail) with a couple stops, and once you get there you have to get a cab or bus or whatever to get around after that. It's a "cool" idea, especially to UW-Madison students, but there isn't a want or a need for it. They're not going to be "green" trains either, they're suppose to use diesel fuel and where do you think we're buying that from?
  13. Don't know how long this while stay open but I'll get my take in before it closes. It just seems like a colossal waste of money. The ridership won't justify it and there is no way it could be self-sufficient. This is 100% about getting people out of cars and has no argument in convenience or saving money. The people who actually do make frequent commutes between Madison and Milwaukee, simply put, are not going to chose to ride this line over driving their cars. 110 mph hardly qualifies as "high speed rail" either, it's old technology. Just send the money back to the Chinese.
  14. I wonder how long until Edmonds' is our starting CF.
  15. I don't think wrestling could sell out at Miller Park. I've been to a few events at the BC and it never fills up and that includes a PPV. Miller Park would be more than twice the capacity. It'd probably have the same problems tearing up the field too. I doubt it would be worth doing it for hockey either even though I think that would probably be the most feasible. I don't think basketball would be possible either. If they want more events at Miller Park, they'd have to make it be able to warm up in the winter and probably install fieldturf.
  16. Charlie Bell isn't that bad. We play him out of necessity. PER is a pretty worthless stat.
  17. I like Doug and glad to have him back. I don't think we were doing much better than him.
  18. I don't think Stackhouse is really going to be stealing too many minutes from anybody besides maybe Delfino's or Ridnour at the 2.
  19. Here's a great quote from the immortal Herm Edwards "This is what's great about sports. This is what the greatest thing about sports is. You play to win the game. Hello? You play to win the game. You don't play it to just play it. That's the great thing about sports: you play to win, and I don't care if you don't have any wins. You go play to win. When you start tellin' me it doesn't matter, then retire. Get out! 'Cause it matters."
  20. I expect him to be our starting CF. Can't say I'm excited.
  21. eh who cares that they signed Stackhouse If you're for tanking and think this hurts our chances in the lottery, I think you're overrating Stackhouse. Tanking doesn't work in the NBA either. Remember when we 3rd in the lottery with dreams of Oden and Durant with Horford and Conley as the WORST possible scenario? We ended up moving down 3 spots while Portland moved up from 7th in the lottery. Or the next year when we went down a pick when the Bulls won it from the 9th spot. When we won it we were 6th spot. Tanking is just a dumb idea. Play to win. Don't destroy your franchise and disrespect the fans who pay good money to watch this team at least try to compete. I hope Stack can help us when we go on those long stretches where we can't score and be a good veteran influence on our young players.
  22. One of the two needs to leave NBC. Simple as that. Giving Leno a show before Conan completely undermined him. Why would the loyal Leno audience tune into Conan afterward? I'm sure FOX or ABC would love to have one of them. If I were them I'd be fighting my hardest to get out of that sad excuse for a channel NBC.
  23. Blah. At least it won't be icy. Friend of mine suppose to be boarding a plane to Mexico tomorrow at 6 am. I don't know how that will effect his flight but that combined with the recent happenings in Detroit it's looks like it has the makings of a perfect storm of airport hell.
  24. Glad to have him back, he had a great season last year.
