  1. How long will this be kept open for donations? Can I donate at any time in the near future, or is it more of a "today or tomorrow" sort of thing?
  2. Miles Davis - Kind of Blue
  3. If my girlfriend got mad at me for being involved in fantasy sports, I probably wouldn't pay much attention to her yelling. Does that make me neglectful? Just sayin'... EDIT: I should say my "fiancee"...I don't want to get yelled at about that http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  4. Brian: Cold in here? Stewie: Nope, just really small. ------------------------------------- Peter: Were you in some kind of accident? Shamus: Me father was a tree.
  5. Wonderful. Thanks for your help, hawing. I think I've got it all figured out http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  6. Had to give this a bump. I'm heading to Pittburgh at the end of this month, (got tickets for the Saturday and Sunday games). I really hope my girlfriend doesn't check this site, but anyways... Friday night is hopefully going to be the "special" night. I even plan on hiding a sign away so that when we go to the game on Saturday night we can hold up a sign that says "Hey Mom and Dad, we're engaged!"...assuming she says yes. So everyone watch for us http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif So my question is...where can I take her? I've heard there are some really cool places to see the rivers branching out or something like that. I don't want to do it over some fancy dinner or something. I would rather it be on a walk in a fairly romantic place, preferably with other people around (they're part of the plan to make sure I record it). Any suggestions?
  7. I used to get stronger after eating Corn Flakes when I was a kid. At least that's what my mom said when she told me to go out and help on the farm.
  8. Anti-matter. I would probably just take the tickets, too. Or whatever their first offer is. I think it's in my best interest to not meet professional athletes or Hollywood movie stars.
  9. That sounds more like Yost Thread material.
  10. From Rany Jazayerli of Baseball Prospectus: We are members of the Rob Deer Fan Club. And we are here to tell you that the Revolution has begun. The Revolution that will spread the Gospel of the Three True Outcomes to every man, woman and child on Earth. What are the Three True Outcomes, you ask? They are: • The Home Run, the weapon with which we fight the evil legions of Little Ball. • The Strikeout, a symbol of our refusal to compromise. • The Base on Balls, which brings balance to our cause. Together, the Three True Outcomes distill the game to its essence, the battle of pitcher against hitter, free from the distractions of the defense, the distortion of foot speed or the corruption of managerial tactics like the bunt and his wicked brother, the hit-and-run. I also wanted to point out that Branyan was mentioned in a ESPN Page 2 article on the NL. surprise contributions from role players like three-true-outcomes overlord Russell Branyan "Overlord" has a nice ring to it.
  11. There's at least a good chance that Sheets won't be pitching for us next year, and Parra is still cheap for awhile. So no, we don't rest Sheets as well. I'm all for sending McClung back to the bullpen and Mota to the DL with a "tender elbow" or some junk. That dude needs to rest, and McClung has really scared me his last two outings. I'm fine with Bush at the back end of the rotation. He throws a gem every once in awhile, but even if he doesn't, he at least eats up more innings than McClung could.
  12. I really, really hate you all.
  13. I thought Shouse was a FA. Could be wrong. Edit: I was wrong. We traded Enrique Cruz to the Rangers for Shouse.
  14. I just came on here to say this. There was no reason for a team with an insanely low payroll to go out and get him.
  15. I'm not sure how you can come to this conclusion. I spent the past few years defending Yost because I liked him, and then I changed my mind and have had to backtrack on things that I've previously said. So obviously we're not afraid to change our minds. And you're assumption that we've "given up on objectivity" is a little unfair and comes off as condescending. I'll give him a C-. I've seen some good things, but I can't give anything higher than a C to a guy that plays Tony Gwynn Jr. as the DH.
  16. It would be interesting to see what Hart could do at 1B. At first I thought that might be a waste of his speed, but in all honesty he doesn't seem to use his speed very well in the OF anyways. As for Gamel, if he shows himself to be at least decent defensively at 3B, it would be dumb to move him to 1B where you can usually stick anyone. I tend to agree with those that think it will be someone in our farm right now that will be used as a stopgap, like Nelson or Errecart.
  17. I've also had the "video game expectation" of players before. Ever notice how Rivera absolutely dominates on The Show '07? That's what I expected from him. I'm disappointed.
  18. I think this is right on, and I actually liked the letter. It means that they actually understand the frustration of their fans. But they also took the time to kinda explain something about the success cycles so that fans can have just a tiny bit more in depth of understanding. In that sense, the letter served two purposes: an apology, and an education.
  19. I think I would always want to play more games at home. It might have worried me more before the trade when Soup or Parra would be facing Haren, but now I feel confident that Sabathia gives us a heck of a better chance, so I'll take the home games.
  20. This is the only reason that I like going to the Metrodome. I wish the ushers at MP would take the same approach and not allow people to go to their seat until the AB is over. I also secretly don't know how to appreciate Corey Hart as a player. I mean, I know he's good and all and his stats show it, but he just doesn't "look" like the kind of player that he plays like. How does a guy who is like 6'6" get so many stolen bases? Seems awkward. I cringe every time Shouse comes into the game. All I can think of is that even a left-handed hitter has to be able to pick up a pitch when it's maxing at 82 mph. Uke worries me sometimes, but his humor will keep me listening. At some point, I just remember him in the good days and his legend and realize that I have to listen and appreciate it. I've always loved listening to Powell.
  21. If anyone has a transcript or link to a transcript from any of these press conferences that would be wonderful http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  22. Dempster just isn't a road winner http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  23. I would say it comes down to the ones that mean more money...Wins and then ERA. I have no doubt closers are more concerned with saves than any other stat.
