  1. His strategy seems ot be giving Kendall every 5th day off for the start of the season so that he can ride him into the ground in the second half. I may have missed something, but why are we assuming that Macha's strategy is to ride him into the ground in the second half?
  2. Kendall has proven to be very durable. If he's good to go, he'll play. Just because he was healthy doesn't mean he was durable. Look at Kendall's stats from the 2nd half last year and tell me he was the best option every game. He could have easily been injured in that doubleheader...the fact that he wasn't proves nothing. Regardless of that, it's very wearing, especially for a catcher that needs to be able to hit in October. And that brings up another point...who determines if he's "good to go"? Of course Kendall will say he's good to go; he had bonuses riding on it. And Ned would always just take the player's word for it and trot them out there. There's a point where the manager has to make a decision that is best for the team and the player, regardless of what the player says or wants. That same thing happened with Gagne last year...it's just bad management.
  3. I often wonder how many players were passed on so Gwynn could get a chance. I can't believe he's not playing for Dusty Baker yet.
  4. He's obviously performed well in Tampa since the trade, but I would like to point out he was hitting .091 through his first 22 at bats last season. And .333 in his next 21 at-bats before being traded. Not that either sample is really telling of anything...just like I don't think Nelson's start tells us anything yet. I just liked Gabe Gross, and despised the fact that we traded him and kept Gwynn.
  5. Macha appears to love playing his starters nearly every day just as much as Ned did. I've always liked managers like Garner and LaRussa that rotated their backups into the lineup somewhat frequently. Ned liked to rest all of his best players on the same day...usually Sunday afternoon. I actually stopped going to Sunday afternoon games because I knew that Hart, Fielder, Braun, and Hardy would be on the bench. I think Ned deserved a lot of the criticism he got. Some of it was unwarranted, I'll admit. But for me, the position-based lineup just defines Ned. That and his press conferences. I haven't caught a Macha presser yet, but I think that will be what separates or compares the two. Ned just said some dumb, dumb things. His moves would be questioned, and he would answer as if it was obvious. "He's Eric Gagne!" Can't say I'll ever forget that one, nor will I let Macha off the hook if he pulls something like that.
  6. Estrada. There, I said it. But I'm assuming Corporan isn't that slow.
  7. Between sitting at the Metrodome and sitting in a comfy chair at home, I might choose the chair http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Otherwise, the Home Run Porch is pretty good.
  8. Rent a movie that you always wanted to see but she never did so you couldn't justify spending the money.
  9. That's two guys hitting for the cycle in a less than a week. Now everyone that has Kinsler on their fantasy bench feels the pain that I did with Orlando Hudson hitting for the cycle and sitting on my bench.
  10. The only reason he's holding any hope is because Karabell is a fantasy writer and Texas doesn't necessarily have a decent option for a closer. If Turnbow had ANY semblance of control, he could easily have made their bullpen in some kind of role, with the good possibility of getting back into the closer's role. That would make him a fantasy steal in deeper leagues...with a REALLY optimistic owner...who probably isn't a Brewer fan...
  11. If hitters are ahead of pitchers in April, then where the heck are our hitters?
  12. Joe Morgan is the only announcer that can make me stop watching a baseball game...even if it's the Brewers. After his 20 minute rant about why Soriano is better as a leadoff hitter, I just couldn't take anymore. Rock is a genius compared to those guys.
  13. Anyone know where this game might be on Dish Network? I'm new to this whole thing. I checked all the alternates and didn't see it.
  14. HBP HBP HBP HBP What the hell is going on!? Did Rickie lean into that one?
  15. Soup with 36 pitches through 3...I feel a classic Suppan 8 inning, 4 run game coming here
  16. What's up with the bean party? Was that one as close as the last one?
  17. 50 pitches through 2...I like where this is going. Lets get Lincecum out of here in 5 and beat up on the bullpen.
  18. Let the Lincecum light up begin! This is Rickie's year baby
  19. So it wasn't any kind of "even the score" bean? I'm watching on gameday so I didn't see anything.
  20. Hey, I'll take a rain delay if it has to be...I work until 7, so a 7:30 start would be great http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  21. Soup and his old school grittiness love the rain. I also expect Counsell and Kendall to have bombs today. Real men thrive in harsh climates.
  22. at one point and time was looked at as a major leaguer. I don't remember that time. And hitting .330 with a bunch of slap singles and a .340 OBP still wouldn't impress me enough to want him on the MLB team. I think if he puts it together defensively he'll probably be hitting leadoff for Dusty Baker in no time. But for now, he's at best a September callup.
  23. Isn't that the guy that caught Jenkins Brewer HR record ball and got pissed because Jenkins wouldn't give him what he wanted for it?
  24. I don't know why this amuses me so much. It's a cheap fighting game that you have little control over, but if you use my link you can be one of my pupils...so... http://travo.mybrute.com Wax on, wax off!
