  1. To elaborate a little more Logan, he went one game of 8 innings...a game where he gave up 9 hits and we won 12-2. The only other time he went AT LEAST 7 innings he gave up 6 runs on 12 hits.
  2. And if we are gonna look at one performance and try to prove something by it, you can't ignore that his previous outing he went 5 innings and gave up 4 runs, and before that he went 6.1 with 2 runs but walked 4. Maybe some of that sounds better than what Parra has done for most of the year until now, but based on all known information, Vargas was the odd man out. Right now his WHIP is 1.04, but for his career it's 1.45.
  3. And when exactly did he ever do something like that for us? I don't blame Doug for letting go of Vargas. At the time we had a lot of starters, and Vargas was at the bottom. Seven innings for Vargas must have taken about four hours...
  4. I saw that as well Rydogg. I'm wondering if perhaps it goes to commercial when the FSN original programming goes to commercial. I think it was actually supposed to be showing poker on FSN last night, so maybe it just goes to commercial when the poker program went to commercial, regardless of the fact that they were showing the game.
  5. I can't figure out where else to put this. Anyone in the Fox Valley know if tonight's game will be on FSN for Time Warner Cable? It's not on the guide right now, but there have been times before where they showed the WMLW games anyway. Thanks in advance.
  6. That's because last year, as I said, Prince looked more solid. He seemed to carry more muscle-weight, and this year it looks like more fat. It's not just because he's struggling. Yes, people are concerned because of the combination of his weight and his struggles at the plate, but that doesn't change the fact that, as I've said several times and it continues to be ignored, people were talking about this before he was struggling. No one was concerned that he was going to struggle on opening day, yet posters were talking about the difference in his appearance. Don't change it to a couple weeks later just to fit your theory. And these aren't personal attacks. It would be personal if we were just saying that he looked fat just so we can make fun of him. But his weight is something that may contribute to his ability to do his job, which means it's not personal. I believe I even made a point to say that it wasn't personal.
  7. Wow, I totally missed that. Brilliant http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Sounds funny when you say it out loud, too.
  8. I guess I don't understand why it's so necessary to have Counsell starting twice a week to "keep him fresh", but our backup catcher just sits there and plays once every three weeks? Plus, there some kind of (in my opinion) stupid unwritten rule that says you absolutely can't use your backup catcher as a pinch hitter, so if he doesn't play the game, he will undoubtedly sit on the bench and rot away. I think I like having Kendall in there as much as possible, but I don't understand why Rivera can't catch for a vet with not much movement on his pitches like Suppan. With Sheets having the hammer, I would rather have Kendall back there. And with the young guys I would rather have Kendall back there, but I don't see why Rivera can't play once every 5 days when Soup pitches.
  9. Someone brought it up last night that he may have been the same size last year, but he was more solid. Maybe that has more to do with the perception of his weight. I don't mean this in a mocking way, but he just seems to jiggle more this year.
  10. Hopefully it's not a decision of 15 day or 60 day...
  11. My bad, that was Steve Palazzolo.
  12. By saying that Prince plays bad defense and he's likely going to be a DH in a few years? Dude, this isn't anything new.
  13. I heard Dillard throws a gyroball.
  14. Like I already said once in this thread, discussion about Prince's weight was happening on opening day. I think there were even some guys down at spring training reporting the Prince looked bigger. Not everything is a knee-jerk reaction.
  15. It very well might be pathetic, but there was also only one winning season in there. I just don't think you can say it has to do with Yost. He's a part of it, as the players are, as well as luck. But it's such a broad stat that I don't think it's something to pin on anyone in particular.
  16. You can't compare Yost to managers that have made it deep into the playoffs or won the World Series, or in Torre's case, won many World Series. When you take a team that far, you get a longer leash in the future. I don't understand the argument that he shouldn't be fired because he hasn't done any worse than other competent managers. He hasn't done anything in his time as manager besides take a bunch of top prospects and have one winning season with them. In my opinion, he doesn't deserve the length of leash that he's getting.
  17. I can find a lot of things to pin on Yost, but I think the inability to sweep a series is a stretch of an argument against him.
  18. Come on now, I think we can agree that the fires were burning long before the Sox sweep.
  19. Nah, I've just been busy the past few days http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Two straight wins against a really bad team isn't about to cure this.
  20. Here's my problem with the article BCin04 posted. Yeah, I get it that Gallardo's injury wasn't Yost's fault. But look at the rest of this quote. It's not his fault that hitters and pitchers aren't meeting expectations? How do you figure? I'm not about to say that it's ALL his fault, but what the hell is the point of the manager if he has no control over such things? The fact that Fielder isn't hitting well is not Ned Yost's fault. Of course. It's Prince's fault, along with Ned, Skaalen, and anyone else that works with Prince and coaches him. Fine, don't blame him for everything. I understand that. But don't completely remove him from blame just because the players aren't performing, because he's part of that.
  21. I imagine 10 years from now Bush might still be pitching, and possibly Cappy. And I hate to say it, but the only reason Sexson will be remembered, besides from fans of the teams he was on, is as the guy with insane slugging stats for a guy that struggled to stay over the Mendoza Line. No one was paying attention to Milwaukee while Richie was raking. Well, besides that thing about a baseball game that ended in a tie.
  22. I totally have to try this...
  23. Anyone have info of what time this starts?
  24. Completely unnecessary. You can throw these stats out all you want, but you're just ignoring the fact that he was set to be a free agent and a long-term deal wasn't in the cards. The Brewers are not the kind of team that can offer long-term deals to 28 year old, all-star 1st baseman. That's because you continue to lose that debate by ignoring the quality pitching we got out of Capuano.
  25. There have been some games where something good happens every time I walk out of the room, and they suck when I'm in the room. So I turn up the volume in my room and listen while I do some work in the living room.
