  1. I think it's time to update the Power 50 when four of the top five are gone http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif But getting Greinke and Marcum out of it is quite a haul. Well-played, Doug.
  2. I won a little over $600 from a scratch-off lottery ticket when I was 18. It was a $100 instant winner, then I got to go to the gameshow (didn't get picked to go on) and they take whatever is won on stage and split it with the audience of ticket winners. I also sold a Badger 5 jackpot when I worked at Pick 'n Save...I think it was about $60,000 or so.
  3. Two thoughts for today: 1. If I drop my utensil on the floor, I normally have no problem picking it up and continuing to use it. I had to re-evaluate this process this morning while eating pancakes with syrup. 2. At what age is it okay to yank the cord from the outlet? Does the acceptable amount of cord from the outlet increase proportionally with age? I usually pull from about 1/4 the length of the cord closer to the outlet. That seems safe.
  4. Did you check in the file? It's under D, for Donut. I miss him too. Oddly enough, just two days ago I put his emergency brake joke as my Facebook status, and all my friends responded with their favorite Mitch jokes. It was a good day.
  5. Obvious to everyone, including Rickie. And I'm sure he's also aware that he won't get close to his value until he puts together a full season. It doesn't really matter how obvious anyone thinks it is that he should be extended if Rickie wants to wait it out.
  6. Are you crazy? Closers pitch the 9th inning only! There doesn't need to be any logic behind it...that's just the way it is!
  7. Red velvet cake is delicious. Be extremely careful to keep the mix contained, though. It will splash on everything and does not come off easily.
  8. So when does someone show up in this thread and say Bill Hall hit on her and told her his bat was dead? Any mention of athletes partying too much seems pointless to me unless there's an arrest involved or they shoot someone (or themself...lookin at you Plax). Between blaming his partying or blaming his pick-a-position every year, I'll take the latter.
  9. Unless you cauterize the bed of the nail, it will grow back. It may feel or look a bit different, but it'll be there. I've had both big toenails taken off...not a procedure I would suggest to anyone.
  10. -Make a giant guest list with everyone on it you can think of...then cut it down under 100. You can also send out dance cards for the people who you want to invite but can't afford to. A lot of friends/co-workers fall into this category. For me, it was that and cousins since I have about 40 of them and i'm close with about 3 of them. The rest are invited to just the dance and don't have to be fed. -Don't have any free beer. It makes things so much easier. When people have to pay for their alcohol, you're much less likely to have an incident. My wife was the one who convinced me of this, and I still didn't agree up to the wedding day, but now I'm glad we did it that way. -Hobby stores are gold. If there's a Hobby Lobby around, you can get a ton of items for really cheap. If your wife wants to wear a tiara and buys it from the place she buys her dress, count on it being $100+. My wife got one for under $5 at Hobby Lobby and I guarantee that not one person would be able to tell the difference. -Count on friends for everything you can. Chances are you'll have some friends that have specific talents. I happen to be a musician so we booked my best friend's disco-funk band for the buddy discount. One of my employees does wedding flowers on the side, so she did all of our flowers and we got a great deal. I work for a credit union, and one of our business account owners that I've gotten to know over the years has a photography business. We paid about half what most places would charge. So check around with friends and see who they know before you book an organist that you've never heard play for an amount that you're not sure is fair.
  11. There was an original outcry because it was a pretty big deal at the time, but I remember that thread calming down pretty quickly. I wasn't around here before Overbay got traded, but I can't imagine anyone was too disappointed with his play or annoyed by him for "taking" Fielder's spot. There's nothing wrong with questioning a guy that was never a very good hitter and then all of a sudden becomes a stud in the majors. If he wants to hold on to that spot, though, I'm guessing that coming to spring training out of shape isn't the smartest decision. Someone crunch up some doritos over his salad; he'll be fine.
  12. It also depends on where you are in the diamond box. I sat there one time, 4 rows back almost directly behind home plate. It's kinda fun when someone fouls it back, but that wears off quickly. The main thing that was cool for me was that this was during the time when Turnbow and Coco were absolutely domination the 8th and 9th, and I got to see the movement on their pitches from pretty close. I wouldn't ever put the money down for a package in those seats, but it's a different experience and I'd like to do it every few years if I can.
  13. Tony Kornheiser needs to be suspended for ruining my Monday Night Football experience. I don't understand how someone can know so little about sports and be a sports announcer. As for the Hannah Storm thing...who cares how appropriate or inappropriate it really was? It was a stupid and insulting thing to say, regardless of whether it was deserved. It would be one thing to walk up to her and tell her what you think, or even to whisper it to someone else at the office. But you don't have to make her wardrode choice a topic on a radio show. Kornheiser is a bumbling idiot, so this doesn't surprise me.
  14. I'm not a huge fan of their pizza (kinda average), but the breadbowl pastas are delicious.
  15. It's possible that some schools are closed for Columbus Day.
  16. Has anyone ever signed up for TWC without getting at least a month free anyways?
  17. Another fun website Here's the Preamble, so you know what you're getting into before clicking: Destroying the Earth is harder than you may have been led to believe. You've seen the action movies where the bad guy threatens to destroy the Earth. You've heard people on the news claiming that the next nuclear war or cutting down rainforests or persisting in releasing hideous quantities of pollution into the atmosphere threatens to end the world. Fools. The Earth is built to last. It is a 4,550,000,000-year-old, 5,973,600,000,000,000,000,000-tonne ball of iron. It has taken more devastating asteroid hits in its lifetime than you've had hot dinners, and lo, it still orbits merrily. So my first piece of advice to you, dear would-be Earth-destroyer, is: do NOT think this will be easy. This is not a guide for wusses whose aim is merely to wipe out humanity. I (Sam Hughes) can in no way guarantee the complete extinction of the human race via any of these methods, real or imaginary. Humanity is wily and resourceful, and many of the methods outlined below will take many years to even become available, let alone implement, by which time mankind may well have spread to other planets; indeed, other star systems. If total human genocide is your ultimate goal, you are reading the wrong document. There are far more efficient ways of doing this, many which are available and feasible RIGHT NOW. Nor is this a guide for those wanting to annihilate everything from single-celled life upwards, render Earth uninhabitable or simply conquer it. These are trivial goals in comparison. This is a guide for those who do not want the Earth to be there anymore.
  18. Yeah, for the other 3 nights I made sure we were moved into the main building, so we were in a suite on the 27th floor facing the strip.
  19. I've never driven to Vegas, but I would highly recommend flying. Keep in mind that if you take the same general route, you'll see the same thing on the way back. Every time I drive for long trips, the way there is kinda fun, but the way back is brutal. It also depends on your personality. I'm not a big drinker, but I had my share while we were in Vegas, and it can be hard to sleep a lot when you know there is so much bustling around you. I was exhausted on the flight back after a four day stay, so I can't imagine what an almost 30-hour drive would be like in that condition. Besides, flights to Vegas really aren't very expensive, and there are some great packages out there for some of the better hotels. My wife and I paid less than $700 for 2 roundtrip tickets and a 4-night stay at the MGM Grand. They don't care how much it costs you to get to Vegas...they just want you to get there so they can take the money you saved on airfare. By the way, for anyone staying at the MGM Grand, I would suggest trying to make sure you're in the main building. For the first night we were put in the West Wing, and I wasn't a fan.
  20. He can do whatever he wants as long as he doesn't announce a football game ever again. Those are the rules.
  21. I've decided that the Hot Pockets "crisping sleeve" doesn't deserve it's name.
  22. I think it's funny. It's not only repetitive, which is the way you might say something in real life but sounds stupid online, but it offers zero analysis, which is essentially what his opinion is worth.
