  1. This made my day, thanks GAME http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Oh, and Woodman's is about a million times better than Pick 'n Save.
  2. I'll reiterate Joe Morgan, Kornheiser and Theismann. Even though he's not doing it anymore, don't forget about Dennis Miller. The NFL needs to just record every game and have Jaws do the announcing before they air it. Either that or give him 16 TVs and let him announce all of them. I love Matt V in general, but hated him doing football. He just doesn't have the right voice for it. Maybe it was just nostalgia, but I actually liked Matty V doing football.
  3. What exactly did Castro do to deserve sticking around? I realize it's probably not the most fair way to judge him, but last year our starters pitched well and the bullpen sucked while Castro was the bullpen coach. Now he's the pitching coach, the rotation sucks and the bullpen has been great. If a pitching coach is judged on how his pitcher's pitch, then he doesn't look very good.
  4. I got free virus protection from Time Warner when I signed up for Roadrunner long ago. I thought they offered it for anyone that has Roadrunner. Not sure how good it is, but I haven't had any problems.
  5. I'll 3rd that. I raised the percentages of all my investments right around the time when the market was at it's lowest point. Lookin good right about now.
  6. The umps are, simply put, embarrassing. This has been the case for years now. I don't even flinch anymore. Umpires have gotten extremely arrogant.
  7. This is what I was thinking as well. The first look on Prince's face when Mota ran off the field looked more like disappointment than anything. It's like when you were a kid and did something wrong, and rather than yell at you, your dad gets that disappointed look that makes you feel even worse. Just yell at me!
  8. Get a Primanti Bros. sandwich at the 1st game, Quaker Steak & Lube for the 2nd...or vice versa. Delicious. And while you're around the park, check out the Carnegie Science Center. I had a blast...my wife not as much, but she's not as much of a geek as I am. Where are you sitting? Tickets are so cheap at that park...we were about 3 rows up from 3rd base last year when CC almost threw his no-no, and I think the tickets were like $26 each.
  9. Is it okay to dump out a warm can of soda from my car on the ground? It's really annoying that it's taking up a cupholder spot and I'm obviously not gonna drink any more of it, and since it's a can, I can't just throw it on the floor of my car. For some reason, I feel like I'm doing something wrong. No one has ever told me it's wrong or given me a nasty look, so I'm just assuming my conscience is giving me bad intel.
  10. Of third baseman who have played 150 innings, he has the worst UZR/150 at -48.3. Dusty Baker has no idea what you just said.
  11. Great story. We really are lucky to have someone like him around for a long time. And I'll echo lcbj68c that I'll probably get pretty annoyed if people turn on him during a slump stretch or season. The guy is a class act, he was almost an immediate team leader, and his production thus far speaks for itself.
  12. I think you meant "grammatical" http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  13. Unfortunately, I have to agree. I'm hoping they can make a run, which can happen with any team that's still close to contention, but if not I wouldn't be surprised to see DM hit the road. Pitching has to be the hardest thing for a small market team to acquire. It would be great to have a few CCs in the rotation, but we couldn't even afford one. He got Bush and Capuano from previous trades...Bush has been alright, Cappy gave us a few great seasons and then had injury problems which isn't very predictable. I guess I would just rather be in the position that we're in than to throw all of our prospects out the window for a year or two of a pitcher that we can't afford. Once you get into September and into the playoffs, it seems like it's a lot about luck and what team gets hot at the right time. Heck, Suppan was the playoff MVP a few years ago. You just can't predict how players are going to respond. So rather than make a run at it once every 5 years, I would rather be in contention every year and hope for a little luck. DM so far has had us in contention every year.
  14. So you think Vinny Rottino might break through and take Russell Martin's job? The way Martin has been playing this year, who knows? I really don't think that will happen...i'm just pissed at Martin for his involvement in my waste of a fantasy season.
  15. That's why they're called professionals. And that's why you're not one. I could really care less about this trade as long as they don't let Vargas pitch night games on the west coast. I'm not gonna stay up until 3am watching him nibble.
  16. Wasn't he given the contract before the year he moved to CF? Maybe that was the following year. Even so, what he had shown was the ability to play any infield position and still put up decent numbers. I never really liked the Suppan signing, but I still think the Hall signing was decent (at the time).
  17. I'm still a Villy fan, and still holding out hope that he gets consistent starts. I just wish he hadn't been moved back and forth so much during his career. I always thought he was better stretched out.
  18. As they should. Best hotel experience that I've ever had. Also, if you're up for sightseeing and a bit of a tough walk, go up the inclines. You can see most of Pittsburgh and where the rivers converge, plus a lot of the really nice restaurants are there. I proposed to my girlfriend (now wife) on one of the lookouts last year, so obviously Pittsburgh will always be an awesome place for me http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif EDIT: woops, I actually stayed at the Omni William Penn hotel, which was the best hotel experience that I've ever had.
  19. A public scolding is never something a manager in any company should ever do to employee. From a business management standpoint, I absolutely agree. My employees trust me, and I think the biggest reason is because they know that I will be honest with them in private and I won't call them out in front of the other employees. That said, I also agree with earlier posts that baseball management is a huge difference from most business management that we know. I'm not really sure how I feel about this, and I'm not sure if I necessarily take either side, but I do know that comparing this to any other business outside of sports just muddles the logic.
  20. From the Yahoo update on my fantasy page: 3TO 5-5 Man I miss him.
  21. You might not want to tell Russell that you're from bf.net. We don't really know how he feels about his cult status around here. He could be appreciative...or a little creeped out. Or a lot creeped out. Edit: okay, just got through the interview, too. Had to Wikipedia Charlie Finley, but that was some great stuff. Well done http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  22. You can't use 3TO, that's gonna be my first son's name. If he ever hits a ground ball, he'll be disowned.
  23. This one would be great. Then when he pees on the couch you can yell "Bad Chad!" Besides that, my personal favorite in this thread so far is Jenks.
  24. I want to tell them as soon as possible to allow them to begin the hiring process, however I am afraid they will let me go and I will be out of a job for the summer. If you really think this place is so loyal to you that they might let you go if you give them early notice, then I don't see any reason to be overly loyal in helping them with the hiring process. 2 weeks is perfectly fine. Perhaps that standard will change someday, but for now, when you get hired for a job you pretty much always tell them you can start 2 weeks from hire date, so a 2 week notice is absolutely enough time.
  25. Juan Pierre--Super Star! Daron? On a semi-related note, I just want to gush over how much I like Kemp. Now there's a superstar. He's the only untouchable on my fantasy team.
