  1. I actually didn't think Ben Grieve was all that bad for us. He had a .364 OBP and a .779 OPS. Not spectacular, but far from "a joke".I will admit he was always good at drawing walks but I think it may have been because he was too lazy to swing the bat. He seemed completely non-nonchalant to me and may have been one of the slowest position players the Brewers have ever had (not including catchers or 1st basemen). He was also quite bad in RF
  2. Oops! I meant Santos. Not sure what made me throw the "de los" in there. I guess because they were both with the Brewers but it was Victor I had in mind
  3. I think so far he has been terrible, and doubt he will get much better. I think De Niro was a bad guest because he was put off by how spastic or uncomposed Fallon is and how amateur he seems. Conan he ain't. JT was entertaining and he is tremendously talented but he seems very into himself to me. His Michael MacDonald impersonation was fantastic.
  4. I'd like to see Victor "The Vampire" Santos find his way onto diener34's team - either in the rotation or the pen for day games. Ben Grieve was a joke!!
  5. Not sure why but I would prefer not to have Lamb on the team - not a big fan. In the limited time I have seen/listened to him play he seems pretty shaky on defense IMO
  6. Dare I say Duffy could be this year's Gabe Kapler? He seems to be reinvigorated like Kap was last year...Let's hope so
  7. Can someone explain this one? Was it an attempted straight steal? Was it an almost wild pitch but he didn't make it home? The ball bounced and hit the catcher, then Prince which in turn kept it much closer to the plate than it should have been. At least thats what Rock and BA said
  8. Yo sounds sharp, Hart is red hot, and I am really looking forward to the 2-fold payoff of Kendall getting a little more rest this year. I think it will be very beneficial to him and I like the idea of Rivera getting more AB's - the guy can hit!
  9. For anyone that may be interested - I ended up switching to DirecTv today and I feel I got a heckuva deal (relatively speaking anynow-not sure if any tv service out there is a "deal"). The package I ordered (called the Plus HD DVR Package) was supposed to be offered at the promo price of $49.99/mo for 12 months plus $15/mo for the 3 extra receivers I am getting ($5/mo each) bringing my bill to $65/mo for the first 12 mo. I told them that I was switching from Dish and they gave me an additional $10 off per mo for the first 12 mo and cut the price of the extra HD DVR I was ordering in half from $199 to $99. So now my monthly bill is $55 for the first year and will go to $87/mo when all the promos run out. As I mentioned earlier I get free HBO, Starz, and Showtime (not cinemax like I mentioned before) for 3 mo. All my HD programming is included in my package (no additional fees) and I get me locals in HD. They did mention that it was fortunate to called today because their rates are increasing tomorrow from the '08 rates to the '09 rates. Just thought I would put this out there for any of you looking to switch or get Direc. I'm pretty pleased right now!
  10. I'm thinking there isn't a way for you to get the Brewers through Dish living in MPLS. They have a multi-sports pack that gets you all of the regional FSN affiliates, but they black out when games come on. Dish does not offer MLB Extra Innings. I'm in the process of switching to Direc but currently have Dish and I live in Eau Claire and I get both the Brewers and the Twins because they apparently consider us to be in the Twins market but enough people complained about not getting the Brewers that we get them I think. I would think MLB.TV is your only bet if you are going to stay with Dish. I would definitely check to make sure they wouldn't black you out from the Brewers though.

  12. Thanks Casey and again to the other posters that provided help!
  13. First of all, thanks for the info and advice guys. I appreciate the help. I guess its not much of a decision because even if I have to pay the pro-rated portion to Dish for the next 12 months for canceling I will still come out ahead. They can charge you a max of $300 for canceling ($12.50 x 24 mo) so I would owe them $150, but my current Dish monthly bill is $110 and with the promos DirecTv has going right now I can get what amounts to the same programming package (only more channels, like MLBN and more HD, including my locals in HD) and HD receivers for both my HDTV's (I currently only have 1 HD receiver) for $65/mo for the first 12 months. Adding the $65/mo and the$12.50/mo still gets me a net gain of $22.50/mo. Plus I get free HBO, Starz, and Cinemax for the first 3 months. After the first year when the promo is up it goes up to $88/mo. I do have to pay $100 up front for an extra HD box with DirecTv and would have only 1 DVR with DirecTv as opposed to the 2 I currently have with Dish, but no matter what I would still be coming out ahead. Seems like a no brainer to me. Still curious if Direc charges you extra for each receiver for not having a land line?
  14. Why oh why do they ever let Kent announce. Let BA take his break or whatever and have Rock go solo for an inning or 2.
  15. I have a couple of Dish Network/DirecTv questions that I was hoping someone could help me out with. First, I am looking to switch from Dish to DirecTv for several reasons, including the fact that Dish just raised my rates, they don't carry the MLB Network, and I can get my locals in HD through DirecTv. My question is does anyone know if there is a way I can get out of my commitment with Dish and not get charged for it? I am halfway through the 24 month contract. Secondly, I do not have a land telephone line at my house so Dish charges me $5 per receiver a month for that. Does anyone know if DirecTv does the same? I do have Clearwire wireless internet now - would that make a difference? Could they plug into that so I wouldn't have to pay that fee? Thanks in advance for any help!
  16. Thanks again for all the pics. Really appreciate it, although they seem to make me even more anxious to leave for Maryvale on the 12th! A few observations from the pics - Rickie looks even more muscular and is it just me,or does it look like Trot has a little bit of a boiler?
  17. Did you try a converter box? My parents have 2 32" LCD tv's that both are supposed to have built-in digital tuners - one tv gets all of their locals without a converter box. The other didn't get any until I hooked up a converter box.
  18. Apparently the Brewers do have one Michael Garciaparra and he is 2 or 2 today
  19. I don't know - it was kind of weird. Apparently Ueck is not happy that Koskie was so fragile when he came to the Brewers and feels he didn't give full disclosure to the Brewers when they signed him. At least thats how it sounded to me
  20. I'm still wondering what he was talking about. Obviously not Nomar, but I don't know that the Brewers even have a player by that name in the organization.
  21. I was just commenting about this in the IGT. I couldn't believe it. Not sure if you heard it but he went on to say more. He did reaffirm my belief that Koskie must have not been entirely healthy before that happened because it was a very soft fall he took.
