  1. My guess: McGehee moves to 1B. Yep, I'm starting to think that too. I wouldn't mind it. McGehee would likely look better defensively at 1B than he does at 3B. Either that or he platoons with Gamel at 1B.Well, he's been the worst offensive 3rd baseman in the league, how bad would he bad at 1st? Gamel is the heir apparent. Platooning is a possibility, but McGehee would have to seriously turn things around against lefties to justify that.
  2. Even beyond starting 4 for 8 w/ 2 doubles, the most impressing aspects of Green's performance are he has yet to swing and miss at a pitch and generally refrains from offering at balls. Statistically and scouting-wise, he looks like the real deal right now.
  3. In 2010 Hairston had the major league average zone rating and range factor at SS. In 2009 he was slightly below average in those categories. He'd be replacing a guy who was 2nd last in both categories, in addition to being an inferior hitter. And an alternative at 2nd base is Taylor Green, who would be a VAST improvement over Betancourt offensively, and his knock defensively at the position was his range, which is different from Betancourt at shortstop how? This team would be discernibly improved if Green was utilized at 2nd base and Hairston at short, until Weeks returns. ----- Continued here: viewtopic.php?f=63&t=30544
  4. Two hang with em's prevent Green from getting another opportunity with RISP.
  5. You mean K-Rod after he got injured? If you're referring to someone else I'd imagine he was a much better hitter than Kameron Loe (Gallardo?). I'd usually let Gallardo hit for himself rather than waste a possibly weaker pinch hitter.
  6. Craig Coshun: Kameron Loe coming back out to pitch, more than likely (after he batted for himself).....
  7. Taylor Green is like Ty Cobb without the racism. Craig Cushon: And another RBI for Craig Counsell, as Kottaras scores.....
  8. I can't remember the last time I've seen a homer to straight away center in Houston. And then one of the few times a ball makes it over the fence, Richie Sexson hits the in-play flagpole.
  9. Brad Mills is sucking it up tonight. Why did he leave Norris in well beyond 100 pitches with consecutive 3 consecutive lefties to face? He waits until the righty Hairston is up to relieve him. A belated congratulations to Counsell for his first home run of the year.
  10. I take more umbrage with the walk allowed before the home run. If you allow a solo homer, big deal. But you give up a baserunner and in turn 2-run homer, up 4 runs, that's when it becomes an issue.
  11. If they did, it was another mistake by this crew. He was hitting .293 coming into tonight.
  12. Thanks for not putting the extreme shift on with Fielder up, Astros. Their manager is asleep at the wheel and it gave us another run.
  13. 3 IP, 68 pitches isn't cruising. He had allowed 2 singles, 0 walks, and struck out 3 up until that point. The run allowed was solely attributed to defense. I wouldn't call that struggling. He's still not struggling only giving up 1 ER through 4 IP.
  14. Kottaras hits some torps! Green even looked impressive on his out. Nice 2-strike approach. The outfield was just playing shallow. Somebody should inform them he had 20+ HR's in AAA.
  15. Then why did he start Felipe Lopez straight away? He's just biased against rookies. That whole bit about playing the players who got them this far was a cop out. Felipe Lopez didn't get them anywhere and sucked for an extended period previously, before Roenicke gifted him starts.
  16. You act like under-performing veterans on teams in a playoff race haven't been supplanted late in the season with positive results numerous times. It doesn't seem to be destroying the D-Backs' chemistry right now. And I'd hardly classify replacing a .650 hitter who is a bad baserunner and defender with an .830 one (proj.) whose decent in the other areas, an incremental change. By the way, have you ever thought about the ramifications long term from alienating your young players and destroying their confidence?
  17. And a great approach by Prince to finish the game off.....
  18. It's obvious he's going to stick with his veterans. The only way he plays the likes of Green are for Melvin to get rid of McGehee/Kotsay/Counsell this off-season. He will always defer to the guys that got him to this point so he doesn't lose the clubhouse. If I was a young player, or even veteran, he'd lose me if he were biased and didn't fix the problems that existed within the team.
  19. That guy cannot take a pitch to save his life. It's like a psychological disorder he has. Roenicke should give him the sign in situations like those that if he swings he'll not play tomorrow.
  20. Gee, it's important that Roenicke got the 41-year old, 15 year pro some experience in that situation instead of Green. I've never seen a coach so biased toward veterans in all my years of watching sports.
  21. Yuni B is getting these relatively meaningless hits because the last thing pitchers want to do with a big lead is walk players. So they don't pitch around the zone against him like normal to induce weak popups. Those AB's should have little influence on lineup decisions.
  22. I just noticed that #4 (bratwurst?) resembles Reggie Miller. That could explain his affinity for the club.
