The first paragraph is about investing, not the economy. While AI will increase energy demand, that will result in an increased cost to consumers not by choice, resulting in less discretionary spending capacity. Consumers generally don't choose to spend more on energy - they're forced to.. Healthcare will always grow as a population ages. But outside of GLP-1 medications, there has been relatively little innovation in the pharma sector, particularly as good drugs lose their patent exclusivity. Manufacturers will always work deals with payers to get their brand drugs covered (Abbvie can teach a master class on that). But there is a big squeeze going on here as rural health care centers are closing due to mounting costs and doctor shortages. Smaller health care systems are going under - one recently happened in the Eau Claire area. Like @BrewerFan said, the rest of the economy is not doing well right now.

YouTube TV cuts off Disney (a.k.a. ESPN) with no warning. Looked at my phone last night before I went to bed and there was an email from YouTube TV saying no more Disney/ESPN effective at midnight. I had heard that they were in negotiations, but never received any formal notice from YTTV that this could happen. Right before a big college football weekend and MNF on Monday. I started typing in "alternatives to YouTube TV" and didn't have to finish the first word before the first auto-suggestion was exactly that. I think they may have underestimated consumer reaction. It is interesting that this comes right after ESPN launched a stand-alone streaming package (for $30/mo). I'm sure both sides are being greedy, but would not be surprised if this is part of a play to steer consumers to their streaming package. I read that if you want to watch every NFL game this year, you would have to subscribe to seven different streaming services. That is not in any way what consumers want. Consumers are willing to pay for convenience, and that means a little more if they can get what they want from at most two TV services. Nobody wants to have to switch back and forth between 3+ services to watch TV. It's been two years since YTTV has had MLB network. I think it's time that I explore alternatives.

The 10% enterprise efficiency includes AI agents. Like I said, specific applications will have far greater than 10% efficiency gains, but when all roles/responsibilities/tasks are taken into account, the overall net across the enterprise is 10% efficiency gain.

According to the research that I've read, AI so far amounts to about a 10% gain in efficiency. That has wide variations depending on the specific application (coding for example, basic customer support, analytics, etc.) but the overall enterprise impact is about a 10% gain in efficiency.

Oh, man, you have to read this. This is a doozie. It sounds like the Governor is more at issue with the contract given out to Kelly and not necessarily the choice of Kelly, specifically the buyout. The Governor also said, "We're gonna make sure that he's compensated properly, and we're gonna put metrics on it because I'm tired of rewarding failure in this country and then leaving the taxpayers to foot the bill." (Can you imagine a Governor in Wisconsin saying the word, "gonna"?) Putting metrics in a contract will be interesting, and if they do, will metrics then become the standard or will other schools who are hiring use that against LSU in an effort to get a better coach?

I have access to a lot of consumer data.. Consumer spending has been going down. That was before the federal shutdown. Now you have hundreds of thousands of federal workers who are not getting paid who are going to drastically decrease spending. While that's a fraction of the total employment base, it trickles across the economy eventually. As someone who has been laid off 3 times in the last 13 years, I can tell you that for every month you don't get a paycheck it takes at least two months to catch back up and feel comfortable returning to normal spending. Unemployment maxes out at a little over $2K/month. That won't even cover most mortgages.

I have some type of schmutz on the inside of my windshield. Now that the sun is low in the sky it is very noticeable. Tried to clean it with glass cleaner. Hardly did anything except swirl the schmutz around. Thought it might be my cut-up-t-shirt rags, so I went to paper towel and also used an all-purpose cleaner followed by glass cleaner again. Helped, but still quite a bit of it left. Went to a higher quality paper towel and despite 3 rounds of that on the drivers side and 2 rounds on the passenger side, still about 15% left on drivers side and 30% left on passenger's side. I have no idea what this is. I seem to recall perhaps taking it to a full-service wash and saw it on there afterwards, as they may not have used clean towels to wipe the interior. Could it be liquid wax that was transferred from the towel the person at the car wash used if they wiped the exterior first with that towel? But my shoulders sure are getting sore as it is not super easy to wipe down the interior of a windshield that is significantly sloping down away from you.

I was referring to financially stupid, but if you're referring to Mark Davis generally, how is it stupid that he: spoke out publicly on the issue of domestic violence in the NFL and proposed that the league should suspend with pay any player arrested while "the investigation moves forward". spoke out in favor of a written report of the Washington Commanders workplace conduct investigation, and the release of such a report, in stark contrast to the other NFL team owners who oppose releasing a report spoke out in favor of increased pay and better accommodations for players in the WNBA invented the muff-style hand-warmer that football players use in cold weather moved the Raiders from Oakland to Las Vegas

They're bodyweight workouts. No equipment needed. Think pushups, situps, planks, squats, lunges, high knees, etc.

That is the most bewildering spot call I have ever seen. These refs have to be betting on Oregon covering. That's like losing your job incompetence to rule that.

The extension is standard operating procedure for all head coaches in all sports. And it did not affect his buyout in any way. None of it is guaranteed. I've seen the contract language and the buyout is based entirely on the original contract that Fickell signed.

That's the thing - they have to have a team of Ohtani's and Betts' because of the Dodgers ability to buy a staff. The reason the Brewers had the best record in baseball has very little to do with the Brewers and everything to do with how many regular-season innings each of the following Dodgers' pitchers threw: Glasnow: 90 Ohtani: 47 Snell: 61 Sheehan: 73 Gonsolin: 36 Kershaw: 112 Their best bet is to hope that the Dodgers pitchers get injured late in the season.

As said in another thread, it's not the lat injury. It's the fact that the Brewers had to baby him and manipulate the rotation in an effort to get him through the season, which ultimately was unsuccessful. Only once did Woody pitch on less than five days rest - his seventh start - and in that start they only let him go 4 innings and 65 pitches. If he really was "good to go", he would not have been limited to 4 innings and 65 pitches in his seventh start off of the IL. They had to use off days, call up guys for spot starts, and do other things to constantly push Woody back in the rotation so that he was on more than 4 days rest. I think other teams are acutely aware of that and know that you can't manipulate a rotation like that for en entire season.

You know that at the time Fickell was the hottest candidate out there. Everybody wanted him. He turned down a lot of opportunities because he didn't think that they were the right situation for his family. That UW got him at the time was considered a major coup by everyone nationally. Now, there's plenty of other things to criticize Mac about. But Mac is far from the first AD at a major school who made a football hire that didn't work out, and if UW didn't give him that contract there were plenty of other schools who would have.

Minnesota is 3-4 and one source has them with the weakest schedule so far this year and the hardest remaining schedule. They still have two games against the Packers and Lions, plus one against the Bears, Seattle, Washington, Dallas. I said in the offseason that they could easily regress depending on QB play and whether McCarthy is ready. And that is coming to fruition.

I have a whole bunch of body-weight workouts that you can do at home with a minimal amount of space. The gym I was a member at in 2020 sent them out and I did them at home in my living room throughout the winter of 2020-2021. Send me a PM and I will send them to you.
