  1. Spring roster out, and a few noticeable absences - Taj Mustapha, Boyd Dietzen, Aaron Vopal. None of the RB recruits enrolled early, so Brady Schipper back to RB to shore up a thin position with only Berger, Guerrendo, and Julius Davis. Not any other position changes I can see other than Preston Zachman moved to safety. Pleasantly surprised to see both Geo Paez and Rodas Johnson still on the roster after only getting playing time late in the bowl game last year; I assume they lost most of last season to injuries/COVID and not benched for ineffectiveness.
  2. And the surprising thing is how many don't and let the match expire. I think many women don't know this; I've actually seen in profiles women make references to men messaging them first. Uh... they can't - read the rules. Maybe I need to move to Seattle, or maybe the influx of the tech industry in Madison will be good for me. In Chicago, I think the stereotypical guy is dark-haired, drives a Porsche or Range Rover, is from an upper middle class Chicago suburb, lies about his occupation/level/income, and is very skilled at getting women to believe what he wants them to believe because he's a complete DB. I can make a good first impression, but as soon as some dark-haired guy with some combination of my height, a hot body, a Porsche/Range Rover, or a fried with a boat on Lake Michigan comes along, I'm yesterday's news.
  3. I've received a small share of a lawsuit settlement from a site that had fake female profiles. Men who searched in different cities (can't remember if it was because they were traveling or because they suspected fake profiles) saw the same profiles/pictures in different cities. Not at all surprised that a high % of the female profiles on any site are fake.
  4. There is a time element to every study - Reilly just didn't put it in his quote. The challenge with time is 1) if it is too short a period of time, the question will be about sustaining protection; B) if is too long of a period of time the data won't be available to make decisions in a time of urgency; and 3) a study of this nature to measure at frequent time intervals means every participant getting tested at that time period which isn't really feasible with a large scale study. Much more feasible to measure at the end of the study. As for normalizing exposure risk, reilly stated that: the participants were healthcare workers, police, teachers and firefighters and other essential workers. So it was working people who had contact with people in an everyday capacity. The participants were people with high exposure risk. I can't think of many occupations that have a higher exposure risk than those occupations. Most occupations have lower exposure risk, so there shouldn't be any fears of it being less effective in high exposure risk occupations.
  5. Where it's surging in Chicago are the zip codes where young Millennials/college students live - Lakeview, Lincoln Park, Wicker Park. A 20-something that I manage went to Miami a couple of weeks ago and came back with COVID. Bars are opening up, it's spring break, and that's where it's spreading.
  6. For the most part, yes, but cocktails at some places that have some exotic options can be hard to replicate. Maybe you don't want to accumulate a whole bunch of different types of bitters, simple syrups, exotic liqueurs, or other ingredients, and if you're trying to impress a girl early in a relationship it's often better to leave it to the professionals.
  7. Yep. They only have basketball, so all of their resources go to basketball. I read something a while back, maybe when they hired Wojo, that in terms of resources dedicated to the program plus playing in a NBA arena made Marquette a top-10 program in terms of total resources dedicated to basketball.
  8. I think it's more of a case of bird in hand versus bird in bush - Moser's season hasn't ended yet, and they may have felt that Smart was good enough to not risk waiting on Moser, or perhaps Smart said he didn't want to wait and if you wanted him you had to get him now. I think DePaul is going to go all-in on Moser, with the pitch that he doesn't have to move his family. Maybe Marquette felt that was too much risk to wait and then if they didn't get Moser there wouldn't be anyone good left.
  9. The ability that King lacks is availability, which is probably the most important ability.
  10. It could be argued that Joey Hauser deserved to get punched in the junk.
  11. Not really - the paradox of choice. Too much choice creates indecision (the infamous "jam" experiment). It also raises expectations, creates comparisons, and creates disappointment because people post the best pictures of themselves (usually several years old) but get the real person when they meet. People lie about their occupation (I guarantee that 90% of men who say that they are CEOs/VPs aren't, and most of the other 10% aren't either) which, coupled with inaccurate pictures, deceives people in to pursuing people who they otherwise wouldn't. Many good-looking men aren't looking for a serious relationship (just looking to "pad their stats", and why would a good-looking guy need a dating app anyway?), and many good-looking women are just looking for attention (i.e. just looking for Instagram followers... or are fake profiles trying to get men to subscribe... or are bots).
  12. I don't know much about Porter Moser and his personal beliefs, but given that Loyola and Marquette are both Jesuit schools Marquette may have an advantage. The fact that Moser didn't bolt after their last tournament run suggests that may be the type of school he wants to be at. You can bet that DePaul will be throwing everything they can at Moser as well.
  13. Yep!
  14. The Packers may get lucky this year because it appears that OT is very deep and CB incredibly deep; unfortunately, DT is looking very thin. Aside from 1st round possibilities (Newsome, Horn, Stokes, Samuel; Surtain and Farley will likely be long gone), some quality CBs that could be available in the late 2nd round or later: Tyson Campbell, Melifonwu, Adebo, Trill Williams, Aaron Robinson, Mukuamu, Molden, St. Juste, Wade among others. Some quality day-3 possibilities: Robert Rochell, Thomas Graham, Bryan Mills, Shakur Brown My personal round-3-or-later guy that nobody has been talking about: Nate Hobbs of Illinois. Compare his pro-day numbers to Jaire Alexander's combine numbers: Alexander: 70.25" height, 192 lbs, 4.38 40, 35" vert, 127" broad, 3.98 SS, 6.71 3-cone Hobbs: 71.5" height, 189 lbs, 4.39 40, 40.5" vert, 135" broad, 3.96 SS, 6.68 3-cone
  15. (sorry, wrong thread!)
  16. +1. Short of a covid outbreak on gameday. These aged well. (As a proud alumnus, I can give receipts.)
  17. Some guys need to get released in order to get that wake up call to get their head out of their rear end. They think that just because they were drafted means they are good enough to play and don't have to work hard.
  18. Right up there with the "we passed on Troy Vincent" draft and just ahead of the "we passed on Chris Chambers" draft. Passing on Badgers has not worked out well for the Packers.
  19. From what I can tell, prior TV rights including Direct TV were a little over $7B/year. Maybe Russ Ball knew what he was doing by pushing a bunch of cap space to next season.
  20. And the value of having a good agent. His agent has the ear of the Senior Bowl director and was sending him videos of his workouts, which got him added as an alternate and then when two guys backed out (I believe Myers from Ohio State and Dickerson from Alabama) he got in. Kind of the John Daly of the Senior Bowl - might have a career because of a couple of guys backing out of one event.

    Pizza

On the topic of good pizza, I had the cherry pulled pork pizza from Poco's this past weekend. Yummy. I see they just added a "hot beef" pizza with braised beef and horseradish sauce... wish they would have had that, or the summer sausage and cheese curd pizza. They're kind of like the Mobcraft of pizza, just coming out with some wild stuff. I asked the guy how many pizzas they do in an average week. He said that when he started he thought if they did 100 pizzas a week they would be wildly successful; on average, they do about 900 a week.

THIS. I was at General Mills' HQ on a tour with my MBA program and they offered Totinos things to us, and I wouldn't touch them.
  23. Depends on the prognosis on Bakh. Keeping Rodgers upright and healthy is the biggest component of this team winning games. If they think Bakh will be ready earlier in the season, then I'm more inclined to go CB or DL and take my chances with a veteran (if they can fit one in under the cap) or a RT drafted in rounds 2-4. But if Bakh isn't going to be ready until later in the season, then I go OT/CB/DL in that order. Samuel Cosmi had a great workout at their pro day, and last year he only allowed I think eight pressures in something like 360 pass plays. If he's there, I still say that he's the pick... but Greg Newsome II would be very, very tempting.
  24. Remember, Dillon (like all rookies) had minimal camp and was also out for a long time with COVID and lingering symptoms during the season. We don't know what he would have done had he been healthy the whole season and/or had normal mini/training camps. Hard to be a major contributor as a rookie on this team - especially trusted with pass-protecting Rodgers - without much for mini/training camps.
