  1. That, and this guy Brad Miller seems to be OK. When Saladino comes back he will start at SS and Miller will take over 2B. No need to give away assets for something you already have. I'd rather invest those assets in other areas (SS, C, SP).
  2. Work with a personal trainer to strengthen your leg muscles, specifically quads, to take some of the pressure off of your knees. My cartilage and meniscus in my right knee are damaged and I had knee pain in my 30's, but after I worked with a trainer for a couple of months and continued to do the exercises my knees feel better in my 40's than 30's. And definitely invest the money in high quality walking/running shoes. They made a big difference for me. You can get high quality New Balance or Brooks shoes and not have to pay for the advertising and endorsements that Nike, Adidas, etc, pay for.
  3. Suter and Gibson have a deal with each other where they let each other get hits off of them.
  4. Franklin has got to think he hit the jackpot.... collecting an MLB paycheck for doing absolutely nothing. #itstillhurts He was a first round pick in 2009 so he shouldn't be poor. He has 2.147 years of service time according to B-R.com; figuring a minimum salary of $500K and a signing bonus of ~$1M when he was drafted, he's made about $2M playing pro ball, or an average of a little over $200K/year.
  5. I believe only three picks in the entire first 10 rounds last year didn't sign. I think it's been 3-4 years since a first round pick hasn't signed for non-medical reasons. If you have time to negotiate an extra $50K-100K, go for it.
  6. You have to discount injury risk for player value, and because of that the Mets aren't going to get good value for Syndergaard right now. Thus I highly doubt he gets moved this season.
  7. I wonder if it means that things aren't looking good for either of Nelson or Davies returning this season. If it is correct, the Jays probably wouldn't need to scout "extensively" if it involved top prospects. If it happens, my guess is two guys in the #11-20 range.
  8. Is it a straight-up swap for Wilkerson and they feel the bullpen is rested enough after only using Wilkerson yesterday, or is it more than one and Sogard is on his way out?
  9. Can we move Miller vs. Sogard to another thread? This is getting tiresome.
  10. Wilkerson career OPS-A (13.1 career ML IP, yes this includes today): .670 Lopez career OPS-A (24.1 career ML IP): .853 Wilkerson will be sent down because he won't be available tomorrow, but of the two he is less the one I'd call hot garbage.
  11. Remember, this is the same Reds team that SWEPT the Cubs last weekend. The Brewers went 2-2. The Reds can and will put runs on the board, it's just a matter of if their pitching holds up.
  12. Shaw? Dude has a .814 OPS this season (on a career OPS of .803). How is that under-performing?
  13. I couldn't care less about the salary they are paying Franklin, I care about the roster spot.
  14. Right now as I type this my ceiling is leaking a brown liquid, and has been for the last two hours. It's coming around but not through one of the air ducts. If you look at the upper left part of the air duct you can see a brown liquid drop forming. I live on the top floor of my building; the only thing above my ceiling is the roof. Odd because it is not raining and has not rained since Wednesday morning. I think this has happened before but it was in January and it was in a different location (different air duct as well as through one of the recessed light openings, about 12 and 24 feet from where it is leaking now). I wasn't home at the time; I was in Hawaii and came home to two dried brown stains. Has anyone seen anything like this and know what it might be? I'm pretty sure there are no water pipes above my ceiling as I'm on the top floor. Obviously water travels to the lowest spot, but it's leaking in a different spot than it did in January. Any thoughts? Unfortunately we are a four-unit building and we self-manage, so when it comes to calling maintenance or a roofer it's our responsibility to find one.
  15. With Yelich and Braun iffy with bad backs I could see Sogard jettisoned for the time being at least and Phillips brought up.
  16. Interesting... he has to throw Keon strikes here. Does he fiddle around trying to get him to chase?
  17. Prior to tonight's game Aguilar was 2nd in the NL to Max Muncy in OPS among players with at least 200 PAs among all positions. I'd say that's All Star worthy.
  18. AAA markets typically need to be MSAs ranked in the #35-70 range. Think Indianapolis, San Jose, Nashville, Oklahoma City, Memphis, Richmond, New Orleans, Salt Lake City. Madison is #86 and might be possible, but the Brewers may not want to risk cannibalization in people staying in Madison to watch the AAA team instead of driving to Milwaukee to watch the Brewers. Grand Rapids is #52 (over 1M in the MSA) and has an A-ball team. That's the market I'd target.
  19. I think the issue is that Miley is higher on the pecking order and they will need to DFA someone when (if?) Miley is ready. My guess is they'd rather DFA Zagurski. Zagurski does have a 14.4 K/9 this year, so he isn't terrible.
