  1. If she's a Cubs and/or Vikings fan, dump her.
  2. If we want to talk about the "modern era", it's debatable whether 1936 constitutes the "modern era" for Lou Gehrig's 167 runs to count, otherwise Jeff Bagwell's 152 runs in 2000 would be the modern era record. Runs takes two - one guy to get on base and another guy to drive him in, but if there's a team that could do it it would be this year's. The Brewers are going to score a lot of runs this year, so Weeks (if he stays healthy - knock on wood) will get a lot of at-bats and chances to get on base. So far though the nano-sized sample of 4 games, Weeks is averaging exactly 5 plate appearances per game, and if he plays 150 games that projects to 750 plate appearances. With a .370 OBP, that equates to getting on base 277 times; raise that OBP to .400 and it means getting on base 300 times. Last year Weeks got on base 186 times and scored 87 runs; in other words he scored 46.5% of the time he got on base. If Weeks can get on base 270-300 times with Fielder, Braun, and Hall/Hart hitting behind him, assuming he scores 46% of the time that comes out to about 130 runs. So he could easily break Molly's record.
  3. This is really impressive because it takes 1) Rickie getting on base and 2) guys behind him to drive him in. To have both of those things happen, every game for 17 consecutive games, is pretty incredible.
  4. If 2nd base were about 5 feet behind the mound, Jason Kendall would have nailed nearly every attempted steal. But with him juggling it when transferring it to his throwing hand, they might still be safe. Hopefully people were not blaming it entirely on the pitching staff, and hopefully this is not a trend. Kendall better throw some guys out soon or they will be running on him every time they get on base.
  5. Maybe Paul is the better player but it's not like they took Darko Milicic over Dwayne Wade.
  6. How about the guy from Davidson?
  7. Alou should buy Bartman a beer, alright. And Bartman should dump it on Alou's head. Alou is a horse's behind for helping put this guy through so much afterwards.
  8. Obviously he played a good game, but his two hits were a very weak grounder, and a bloop that found a hole. Then he hit a routine flyball. Yep. Amazing what can happen when you put the bat on the ball and don't strike out. As a friend of mine once said, "You don't draw pictures on the scoreboard."
  9. TGJ would like to tell everyone here to take todays game and put it in their pipe and smoke it.
  10. I would absolutely love for TGJ to post here and tell everyone in this thread who has 'dissed him to take today's game and put it in their pipe and smoke it.
  11. What DatHoser said. Funny thing is, Al is on the right track too. To have a technician come out and replace the belt on ours was over $150... in which case you are almost better off getting a new dryer.
  12. *Yawn* Oh... did something happen? Are Narverson and Z-Jack still in the organization? Yes? Has the season started yet? No? Still got time to make some deals? Yes? OK, good... back to bed.
  13. I am very concerned because: 1) They better honor the Sirius lifetime subscription I bought a couple of years ago, and B) Some cars, including mine, have a factory-installed satellite radio system and that better work for as long as I have this car. It's one thing to replace a little mobile receiver... it's another thing to replace a factory-installed antenna and receiver in a car (and that I paid $75 to switch the service from the old receiver to the car).
  14. This one's easy - Sweet Baby Ray's They just got it out here in CA a couple of months ago. Now they have to get the other flavors.
  15. Yeah, maybe expand the "What country was your car made in?" question to include Canada (GM & Chrysler) and Mexico, or add "other".
  16. What is the reasoning for Parra over Villanueva in the rotation? Is there any? Because Villy has a role in the bullpen? If they keep Parra as the 5th starter they can skip him on weeks where they have off-days, which will keep his innings down. That is the reasoning for keeping him over Villy in the rotation.
  17. I'll be heading to Europe in a few weeks; most of the time I'll be staying with a friend who lives in Gothenburg, Sweden, but when he's working during the week I'll be making a little side trip to Copenhagen. I am not a seasoned international traveler and this is the first time I've ever been to Europe, and I'll be in Copenhagen by myself for about two days. Any tips on getting around, reasonably priced places to stay, cool things to see and do in Copenhagen would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! (We'll also be making a side trip to either Tallin, Estonia, or Helsinki, Finland, maybe both.)
  18. Three, but only because I can't get Beer & Brat mustard out here. Yellow, Spicy Brown, and Dijon. I make my own honey mustard - use spicy brown or dijon, put it in a bowl with some real honey, nuke in the microwave for 10-12 seconds and it mixes real nice. Makes a nice spread on baked fish.
  19. With the exception of their last possession in regulation and their last possession in overtime, Marquette played a great game. And yeah, Lopez should have been T'd up for taunting and running his mouth long before the double T's on him and Blackledge, so he should have been in the locker room; but then again he wouldn't have been the one bricking the free throws at the end of regulation. Marquette was getting a lot of guys shoved around on rebounds that the refs weren't calling, while Marquette was getting called for fouls on any shot that Stanford put up down below. Tough loss. Stanford was a top-10 team for a reason - very few teams in the country can match up with a team that has two athletic 7-footers who can shoot. Scary that they are only sophomores.
  20. Had the bucks not agreed to trade dirk, Dallas would have drafted him with the pick before. IIRC anyways. No, the Bucks really wanted Robert "Tractor" Traylor and Dallas picked him. If Dallas really wanted Nowitzke, then why didn't they pick him? And if they passed on him, and the Bucks thought he was really better than Traylor, then the Bucks were under no obligation to trade him. It was because Milwaukee wanted Traylor, not because Dallas wanted Nowitzke. The Bucks wanted Traylor, so Dallas said, "Fine, then pick Nowitzke and (the tall dude from Notre Dame) and we'll trade you Traylor."
  21. http://youtube.com/watch?v=FuQubpmDbDA Thought you'd appreciate it. For those of you complaining that the Bucks should be making more moves, Just think if the Bucks HADN'T made any moves the last few years and just resigned their own guys. Their roster would be Dirk Nowitzke, Ray Allen, Michael Redd, Rafer Alston, TJ Ford, Yi, Bogut, Ronald Murray...
  22. The Catcher of Love will always be in the game
