  1. Cincy makes another error on a dropped throw to first in the 8th. Lets hope that does not come back to haunt them.
  2. I don't think the Cubs gave away all their prospects, but some of their top guys really are not performing all that well. Pie has struggled a lot in his call-ups. Veal has put up decent numbers but his secondary numbers aren't that great. Jeff Samardzija' numbers are not that great. Colvin has really struggled as well. Vitter's is young and has not really produced much. I don't really know much about how good Cedeno is, but that just does not seem like a ton to work with and that was their top 6 prospects. I think it could be enough to get the guys you said but boy would their system be depleted.
  3. If the concerns about him already having a dead arm are true this deal makes a little more sense, but I am not going to criticize the Cubs at all for make a deal I would have loved. Harden is in line for some arm fatigued with how little he has pitched the last three years. In his MLB career he has only pitched over 126 innings once. He is already at 77 so he might be hitting his limit.
  4. That is an extreme statement. Harden making 6 starts is not worth Sean Gallagher let alone Murton and Patterson. Know I think this is a great deal for the Cubs but if CC only netted us two more wins according to rluz Harden for half his starts would net at most one.
  5. The A's made a trade that allowed them to continue in the playoff race. Gallagher steps into the rotation and Murton and Patterson have chances to play for them right now. The A's got young parts that have some potential and the Cubs get a top-flight pitcher, who makes Sheets seem like an iron-man. I do think Oakland made this deal quick in part because you never know when Harden will go down, but also they had him for another year and they could have traded him in the off-season for more.
  6. The Cubs also have Harden for next year too. This was a good deal for them, but boy did it take away their OF depth. If Soriano, Edmonds, or Fukudome go down they are left with who Pie again? Obviously they have some resources to trade again but I got to think this is their last deal other than maybe for OF depth. They don't have much left that is expendable, maybe Marshall.
  7. This a really good deal for the Cubs in my mind. I think they got a better deal than the Brewers at first glance. I can't believe Oakland traded Harden so quickly
  8. Lawrie will be up there whenever he signs. I would also think Cain will jump up the lists a little. Lucroy should jump even more in the rankings, I find it hard to put him behind Braddock.
  9. That is tough to see either of these go, but I would rather have it be Brantley in some ways, just because I feel like we will only have one outfield spot in the future. We need 2B and 3B prospects.
  10. Apparently Rosenthal is saying the Brewers were talking to the Giants about Ray Durham and Jack Taschner. This is from a guy on the Milwaukee Journal Sentinal blog lineup page. I have not been able to find any more on it. It is interesting. I don't think Taschner fits as much as Durham who is a switch hitting 2b
  11. Yeah, Vitters is their top bat, but he has not done a ton to date. I would say Harden would cost a lot because he has a club option for next year. It would be interesting to see what the talks would center around. Other teams can put a much better offer in my mind. If the Dodgers were interested in CC I wonder if they would have interest in harden. They have some bats Oakland might like. Beane might like a guy like LaRoche too because he has carried a great OBP.

  14. If the A's want bats I just dont know what the cubs have to offer. Pie, Cedeno, Fontenot, Murton, none of those guys seem like guys to center a deal around. The Cubs could do young pitching like Gallagher, Marshall, or Hill, but I think another team would be able to give them more of what they want. I agree that the Brewers match up much better.

  17. I will be too, but has Lucroy's named been thrown out in anything substantial, all I have seen is Green and Brantley (who is not one of the guys according to his agent)? I would love to hear from agent what the latest is but i am guessing he has more important things to do than post updates on a message board. Shapiro's comments seem like he is underselling the value of a Green or Lucroy. Especially when he is trying to sell this trade to the fans. I could just be over-analyzing it too.
  18. I think a team like the Cubs could look at Haren, but I just dont know if they have the prospects to do it. Hopefully the Brewers catch them shortly after the break and the Cubs do something drastic. The rumblings are that the Phillies will get Bedard. That leaves Burnett and Harden as the best guys remaining and who knows if Harden will be available. That actually puts the Jays in a good position because they should get great value for Burnett if he is the best that is left. I dont think the Crew will go after another started except someone from San Diego maybe. They will save their trading chips either of a RP or for the off-season to try to get a top tier starter.
  19. I really hope the PTBNL is not Lucroy. I would rather have it be Salome than him. The problem is a player has to be at the same talent/potential level as Green so Lucroy would make sense. I wonder what is up with the numerous "deadline" dates. Would the talent of player go up or down as they went past each date?
  20. Interesting comments on the PTBNL. It cannot be a major leaguer. Melvin would not say who was on the list but did say there are a couple of dates in which the PTBNL will be picked by. I don't know why they have numerous dates. He said Matt was untouchable a couple weeks ago.
  21. So as it stands if current knowledge is correct we will lose either Green, Cain, or Brantley (although agent denied that). I would much rather see Cain go then Green because of our OF depth. We have Braun and Hart there for a long time (assuming Hart is locked up which I think he will be), then we have Brantley, and Gillespie, so our depth is not astounding but it is good especially if Gamel ends up in the OF. As for Green we dont have much in terms of 2B prospects at all and Gamel is there at 3B but obviously he needs defensive work. I like Cain as a player but I would rather keep Green also liking his lefty bat. I would be pumped with a LaPorta, Cain, Bryson, Jackson trade. I would feel like Cleveland got the better end of a LaPorta, Green, Bryson, Jackson trade, but not by much and I still think we did what we needed to do. Also with CC pitching Tuesday and Parra and Sheets being pushed back we could cut out a Parra start before the break to keep his innings down even a little bit more.
  22. Agents blog is up and is an interesting read. Says Green has heard nothing from the team about being the PTBNL but as that he has not heard he is not the PTBNL.
  23. I still do not fully understand Green being the PTBNL. Is the switch from the 3rd to 2nd that hard, especially when he played 2nd two years ago? If he is a PTBNL and they do not want him I wonder who they would take?
  24. Who could the PTBNL be? As long as it isn't Lucroy. There is no reason they would have to wait to include him in the deal is there? Aren't PTBNL guys usually lesser known prospects?
  25. Sounds like just LaPorta won't be in because of the trade rumors or did you hear he wasn't going to be in?
