  1. 1. Moustakas' control is only guaranteed through the end of this season so they'd have a black hole at 3B next year potentially. 2. Have you seen the success they've had with him at 2B? This had to have been their plan. And you are probably completely right it just seemed with the Schoop trade that maybe Shaw became expendable. Let me be clear - I do not want to trade Shaw. I actually think he is really underrated here There is a part of me that really think Moose will resign here and will Shaw be a 2b for a full season?
  2. Just remember Stearns signed Chacin and Miley for a combined 10 million this year. That got us a combined era in the low 3s and 20 wins and 270 innings pitched. Epstein signed Chatwood and Darvish for a combined 33 million this year and for coming seasons. That got them a combined era over 5 and 5 wins and 140 innings.
  3. Part of me wonders if Shaw was being shipped for a starter at the deadline. Right now I could see the Brewers packaging a bat and a guy like Woodruff or Davies or Anderson for a better starter. This team has a lot of flexibility to trade from.
  4. I agree on both accounts. The braves winning tonight is really big for the Brewers. In the world series I actually wouldn't mind playing the red Sox because their bullpen is really suspect. But that is a long ways away.
  5. So we have a free agent starting pitching thread but if you look through that list it is hard to find guys who are really that much better than what we currently have. So I have wondering who might be available via trade. It is hard to know what teams might go into sell mode in the off-season. First there are the teams like most likely wont complete. Do they have starting pitching? Marlins, Tigers, White Sox, Royals, Rangers, Orioles, Blue Jays, Reds, Padres. Then there are the teams that may realize they really are not that good. The Twins, Phillies, Giants, etc. But these teams could decide to try to buy an upgrade. Then there are teams that might have a surplus of arms but lack hitting. The Mets being the prime example. With all the pitchers we have - Chacin, Anderson, Davies, Burnes, Woodruff, Peralta, Nelson, Guerra, etc. Could we package a bat and an arm for an upgrade?
  6. This has been said by others but if we go after a starting pitcher next off-season I think it will be via trade. How many guys out there really are that much more better than what we have? If you want injured pitchers hoping to rebound we have probably the most exciting option in Nelson and then have Davies as well. If you want buy low guys coming off a down year we have Anderson maybe one of the best of the bunch out there. Young guys dont hit free agency but we have Peralta, Burnes, and Woodruff who are more exciting than most of the names on that list and a lot cheaper. That is 6 pitchers right there and obviously we still have Chacin. I could easily see Miley back on a friendly deal. I would not be shocked if we traded from depth and included one of the of the young guys in the deal. I dont know the market for starting pitching. Maybe that is a new thread
  7. I know people give bandwagon fans a bad rap but honestly baseball is a really long season I would say most team's fanbase consists of quite a few "bandwagon" fans. There are probably just a handful of baseball teams that are not filled with a lot of bandwagon fans. Baseball is a hard sport for many to follow throughout a year so obviously when there is sustained success more people will stay interested. It is a good time to be a Brewer fan and it shows with solid attendance. Also many people here didnt grow up Brewer fans. People grew up rooting for the Twins and Cubs so the Brewers have had to build. The terrible teams of the 90s and the early 2000s made it a real challenge to build back up. Brewers will always be 3rd to Packers and Badgers but I would say it is a pretty solid group right now
  8. He gave up 6 base runners in 5 innings without his best stuff and with a ump that wasnt giving him the low strike. 3 of 5 innings runners didnt get past first.
  9. Thank You pitching!!! That being said, definitely have to upgrade in the off-season. Can’t keep relying on the bullpen to allow nothing. Let’s hope the bats wake up in the next couple games Why? Get nelson back. Let Davies pitch a full season healthy. Move Burnes into the rotation. Potentially Woodruff too. Peralta is there. They have some very solid options going into next year. Now if Nelson isnt healthy then sure
  10. Thank you Chacin! What a great performance. Didnt even have his best stuff and gives us 5 shutout innings.
  11. Chacin is getting squeezed this game but he is doing what needs to be done!
  12. Honestly I am fine if they keep Anderson in the third time through the order. He wasnt fooling nearly as many guys that last inning. We just ran into an out
  13. Two days in a row where the initial call goes against us. The Arcia play yesterday and this one. Both would have been safe if the initial call was safe
  14. Great at bat by Shaw as well. Setting up a chance for Santana in this inning
  15. Hernan has an OPS of .417 in September. No problem doubting him. Glad he proved me wrong
  16. That a boy Perez! Those last two werent chip hits. They were hit hard.
  17. Great at bat there. Our lefties are doing their job so far against Anderson. On base 3 times
  18. What does a manager really do if he cant get credit for getting a pretty poor team to win games?
  19. Who are Cubs going to pitch Thursday and Friday?
  20. Watching other team's pinch hitters go up there makes me really appreciate the depth that Stearns acquired
