  1. True to an extent but the intensity of covid has been lesser for those who are vaccinated so hader could potentially be out longer. We I got it in the Fall (and I am in fairly good shape) I was out for almost 2 weeks.
  2. He’s pretty good. That trade continues to look better and better. Lauer would be a 3 on quite a few teams. Lauer would have been the number 3 on our 2018 NLCS team
  3. Of the Brewers 6 starters the worst era is currently 3.69! And I am fully expecting to be blamed if Lauer gets shelled next inning
  4. You are correct that Grisham playing CF is a big part of his value. That is what will likely keep this trade close going forward. On the pitching side it is hard to grade since the Padres flipped Davies and it helped get them Darvish but there was a lot more to that trade than Davies. At the same time Lauer has looked like a guy who could be a back of the rotation under a cheap salary. That definitely has value
  5. I haven't looked in a while but Trent Grisham has really struggled of late. His OPS is at .762. He is 6 for his last 50. Urias is at .748. This is why you wait a while to judge a trade. The Lauer and Davies part of the trade looks quite different too
  6. Even with our awful start, only the Dodgers, Giants, Padres, Braves and Reds have scored more runs in the NL. None of those teams have given up less runs. We knew going in we were sacrificing a little offense for a great d.
  7. 16 of August games are against the Pirates, Cubs, Twins and Nationals who were all major sellers. 12 against teams who were buyers or at least not sellers - the Giants (5), Cards (3), Reds (3) and Braves (1). If we take care of business against that first group and even play .500 ball against the second group we are going to be in great shape. Another really good month is there for the taking.
  8. Reports out there the league isn't high on Madrigal. I could see it. High average but doesn't walk much and not much power. In a league of OPS he doesn't grade out as well. But if he develops power with age then he could be very good
  9. With the tackle they also picked up yesterday - a pretty good signing in my mind - I think they would have to be pretty tight against the cap I think he signed for the veteran minimum. That feels like a steal for a guy who started every game last year for the titans
  10. With the tackle they also picked up yesterday - a pretty good signing in my mind - I think they would have to be pretty tight against the cap
  11. Escobar will be a great dh in the world series too
  12. According to Tom Silverstein from the JS, Cobb's cap charge will be under $3 million. I do no to know the ins and outs of capology, but I assume he is correct there, so I'll take him at his word. Cobb at a cap charge that low really isn't a big deal, especially if Rodgers is adjusting his contract to provide more flexibility. I too would like to see more depth on the D-line, but the options at this point are somewhat limited. Perhaps they'll work out a deal trading from one of their positions of strength (WR, TE, G) for a DT at the end of camp. That 3 million number is better than the 5 million I read this morning. I keep seeing Houston is paying 3 million and we are paying 5 but maybe some of that is spread out differently
  13. Man we saw a lot of rookie wrs have an impact last year even with very little training camp but I see your point. The thing for me is even without a good slot wr we sti had an elite offense last year. Our run d has been an Achilles heel for a while. Just feels like way more if a need and there were guys of cobb's caliber in my mind out there at that position.
  14. Jurrell Casey would look pretty good in our dline rotation. Kuwann short and geno Atkins are guys you could bring in coming off injury plagued seasons -similar to Cobb they have durability and declining production concerns but are at perceivably a much bigger position of need. Or you could go KJ Wright at lb I fully hope Cobb proves me wrong but after drafting Rodgers slot wr was way down the list for me. Even an outside guy would have made way more sense with limited funds.
  15. 5 million for Cobb is a decent chunk of change when the cap is already low and so much money is locked up into a few guys. We had the number 1 offense last year and are bringing almost every skill position player back and adding a couple rookies. On defense our dline is still below average. Would have much rather seen this money spent there I love Cobb from his previous time here but his injury history and having just drafted a another guy who seems like exclusively a slot wr makes me less excited
  16. FWIW Brewers still play La and SF a total of 10 games not to mention those teams playing against eachother SD/LA/SF. Meanwhile, Cincy only plays 2 3 game sets vs Mil and LA. It's possibly easy for them to make up ground when one of the teams ahead of you will lose up to 17games or 8.5 games on split. And I'm not even counting games vs NY Mets these teams still play. Cincy has 28 games vs deadline sellers and bottom feeders Pitt, Cubs, Marlins, Twins, Tigers with 4 vs Wash I'm not including but that may make 32 games vs teams that are positioning themselves for the draft vs playoffs. Brewers meanwhile have 21 such games looking past deadline. That's just keeping in mind to consider why they would believe they have a chance to make the playoffs. I'm not anointing them playoff bound. I'm not sure they are a better team after the 3RP acquired. Just there's a path that gaining 7+ games down this stretch is possible on 1 of the teams ahead of them. Yeah I saw the Reds schedule a bit a you guys are right it is really easy so they could make a run. The Brewers schedule outside of the Dodgers and Giants games is not super hard either. It really depends what the Cardinals look like down the stretch bc we get them a lot - 13 games. We also have something like 22 other games against sellers as well.
  17. I love how they operate. It isnt just that Stearns doesn't say anything publicly it is that the media seems to have no insider knowledge either
  18. Real question. Under Stearns has there ever been a rumor that broke before the actual trade?
  19. It's not all that unlikely for 1 of those 4 teams to play 500 ball the rest of the way. Especially considering the 3 NL West teams going to beat up on each other plenty. And 37-24 isn't all that unlikely considering their schedule. They get to play 3 against us, which sounds weird because we're probably tougher than playing the Rockies or something...but they can give us losses by winning those games. Fangraphs has them with the easiest strength of schedule in all of baseball the rest of the way. It's not going to take much for the division race to get interesting. They hit an 8 of 10 stretch and suddenly it's 4-5 games instead of 7. Sure they can make a run but they haven't shown much to make you think they will simply by adding a few relievers. They have been average at home, average on the road, and have a negative run differential. I know their schedule is easy but 13 over in a 60 game span would be very impressive with what they have shown so far. Maybe their rotation will turn it around because that would make that would make the turnaround more likely.
  20. Exactly! Just 5 games over and the reds would need to go 42-18. If we continue our trend of finishing strong under CC we are in amazing shape
  21. But if the team doesn't think the guy is worth that why should they even offer them the lower deal? Teams need to be able to make the decision to move on even from nice guys
  22. he was asked specifically about that. it's sped up to condense time. Don't think Rodgers talks this fast He keeps saying he wants to be a part of conversations. The key is he fine when the decision isn't what he wants. Woodson was a mistake to not keep but man his other examples and his reasoning for keeping this guy's is sentimental at best but not how to run a team.
  23. Initial thoughts 1. I get the frustration of the Packers not commiting to him longer term after the season. The team didn't have to commit but as a person and competitor I can see that being annoying 2. Rodgers wants to be a part of the recruiting process and that makes sense. However he needs to commit to recruiting who they want not just who he wants 3. The stuff about veterans was cute but a horrible way to run and organization. 4. i can see listening to his thoughts on the roster but he needs to understand they won't always listen to him 5. It doesn't seem like the front office was as clear as the could have been this off season 6. We will never know who leaked the info
