  1. It's funny looking back on how many heartwrenching losses there were in the '07 and '08 seasons. The Shouse vs. Pat Burrell game (Yost's last or second last game as manager) probably takes the cake for me. A bunch of friends were watching the Packers game against the Lions, and I was obsessively following mlb.com's Gameday. I'm actually glad I was at someone else's apartment because I probably would've broken something. Going back to the topic of hot streaks though, it would be nice if Arizona started losing. They walked it off tonight against Roy Halladay who was pitching awesomely until Overbay doubled in the final two runs.
  2. I think that's exactly it. They won that game with Lucroy doing it, who happens to be a good bunter, so RR seems to have really taken to the idea. Just stop. Also I guess on the local news they just said it was Yuni who indeed missed the sign. I don't know what's more frustrating, the fact that RR thought it was a good call, or that Betancourt could have maimed Fielder if he connected on one.
  3. Calling for a squeeze (assuming it wasn't Prince that missed the sign) with one of your worst hitters and one of your slowest baserunners might not be the best idea. Know your personnel.
  4. I was pretty shocked by that as well, though I suppose Carlos Gomez helped out that number a ton.
  5. Ah yes, Wolf being being selfish yet again results in Kottaras getting a start against a lefty. Bah. Tonight will be my fifth time tailgating at a game, but the first time it will be both A) above 60 degrees, and B) not raining.

  7. Whenever Bill Schroeder says his name it sounds like Poe-holes.
  8. http://www.jsonline.com/b.../fanblogs/127698383.html Some guy on the JS fanblog thinks the Brewer should maybe possibly think about looking into Morrison.
  9. I find myself getting upset simply when they're trailing early in the game...probably not good for the inevitable 4 out of 5 they'll lose or whatever it will be at some point later.
  10. Has there ever been a worse infield defense on a team that was 18 games over .500 in August? That's not a rhetorical question, I actually want to know.
  11. It's fine, if the umps not going to call these close ones here, but he had a big zone up until this point. Inconsistent umps are 100 x more frustrating the umps with big zones.
  12. For anyone who wonders why people might consider players like Tulo or McCutchen for MVP over Prince, that's a perfect example of why.
  13. If this goes into extras, that over-managing last inning could hurt. Yeah I know, obvious.
  14. Obviously I'm not going to complain in this instance, but does anyone else think the dropped 3rd strike rule is the dumbest rule in baseball? You're rewarding a hitter for swinging at a pitch in the dirt.
  15. If you're going to use 4 bench players in about 5 minutes, why not have Hairston bunt instead of Wilson, then have Hart hit for Lopez and put Hairston at 3rd? Actually I think I just confused myself, does that even make sense?
  16. I really hope this means Lopez will be PH for with Wilson bunting.
  17. Against the Pirates it would be disappointing. Still not over yet I suppose.Winning two out of three games against anyone should never be disappointing. Fangraphs still had the win probability for the Brewers around 25% after the 7th, FWIW.
  18. If people didn't care about defense when it comes to awards, Ryan Braun would have unanimously won NL Rookie of the Year. McCutchen is a fantastic defensive centerfielder with an OPS higher than the average MLB first baseman. He's a great, great player.
  19. Weren't they JUST saying at best Weeks would be back in early September? Now Concannon is talking about how impressed RR is with his recovery and he could be "way ahead" of schedule.
  20. To be fair, an average starting major league LFer catches that ball to Braun.
  21. It's not even getaway day though, the Brewers are still at home after today. They've also had two off days in the last week and a half. I don't mind sitting McGehee, but Hart's been on a roll, so I hope there's something more beyond just giving him a day off for the sake of giving him a day off.
