Jerry Hairston Jr. with 2 home runs in 15 career AB's against Maholm. Maybe that's what it will take to get Roenicke to play him over Lopez. -

I know there's no real way of knowing, and maybe I'm just way off on this, but I feel like Morgan bunts on his own and Roenicke doesn't say anything to stop him. It's maddening though how often he does it in the first inning when Hart leads off with a single or a walk. Does he not know that he's a solid enough hitter to not be doing that all the time? -
Not only that, but he had the Phillies missing the playoffs altogether.

Don't you think there was some sort of communication between Melvin and Roenicke when they traded for Hairston? Like, "hey, it's okay to start this guy more than once or twice a week."

I was thinking the same thing. It's nice to give Axford a rest, but I'd imagine they'll need K Rod quite a bit down the stretch as well.

So what will Wolf's leash be in the 9th? If Pujols comes up with a guy on base, I want Axford.

This is absolutely nuts to me, even if it's only been 40 some odd plate appearances. Some of the Brewers relievers have made him look straight up silly the past couple games against him.

He threw 14 pitches in the 7th. There's like a 1% chance Roenicke won't use KRod, but I find it hard to believe it would kill Saito's arm to at least bring him out for another batter or two.

Unless Saito strands the bases loaded, that would probably mean K Rod faces at least Berkman and maybe Holliday. Can't say I like that matchup.
