  1. Is Citi Field right by an airport? It sounded like a plane just roared by. Also, nice job manufacturing the third run. Edit: Here's hoping McNewGuy can make it hold up. Make that...Zach.
  2. I'm tempted to watch Tenth Inning, but I know it'll be replayed, whereas live baseball is just about done. Plus Madison is still coming down from the President's visit. Too much to geek out over tonight!
  3. Someone in the Citi Field audience, probably not thablingster, keeps yelling something about Corey Hart. I didn't hear their reaction to his home run, but it doesn't sound like friendly yelling, so they're probably not happy about the home run. But I am. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Edit: BA and Rock are engaging in epic late-season banter. They were talking about Deuce, the kid who does the blogging on FSWisconsin.com, and Brian said, "His classroom smells of rich mahogany."
  4. There are only like three versions of Jerry Garcia's "Tailgate Tips," right? The true bleu cheese burger with Uncle Phil's Mustard, something with brats, and some other recipe?
  5. Dang, Prince. Just dang. Hell of an effort on that catch. I see thablingster has phone service in Citi Field. Is there any point in our watching the stands for you? Are you rocking Brewers gear?
  6. Yeah, you wonder what made him think Cali could score from 2nd. Well, gotta move forward. Incidentally, the Brewers report that Ryan Braun was a late scratch today with a stomach virus. Too bad Mat Gamel needs the toe surgery.
  7. We'll get this going. Your Milwaukee Brewers: Weeks 2BInglett LFHart RFFielder 1BMcGehee 3BCain CFEscobar SSKottaras CWolf LHP Those New York Mets: Reyes SSFeliciano RFBeltran CFWright 3BDavis 1BEvans LFThole CTejada 2BPelfrey RHP Let's go, Brewers! thablingster has made the trip to see you play and I don't want you to let him down.
  8. So, I have to leave work in about an hour, but in the meantime I have a crazy good view of the stage the President will be using this afternoon. I've been handing out guest internet logins to press members, getting a few things done around my office...and taking photos. It's interesting. There have been people waiting outside the designated Library Mall entrance since at least 10:00. The gate opens at 3:30.
  9. With apologies for the momentary detour...while reading up on Austin Peay State University last week, I discovered that Jack Z. has a master's degree in physical education from APSU.
  10. The 2011 magnet schedule distributed to fans at the September 24-26 Marlins games has six Sunday dates asterisked as all-fan giveaways: April 24 (vs. Houston) May 22 (Colorado) June 12 (St. Louis, a marquee matchup) July 10 (Cincinnati) August 14 (Pittsburgh) September 25 (Florida) Let the speculation begin?
  11. Per the Brew Beat blog, a doubleheader is planned for Wednesday starting at 3:10 PM CDT. I don't know if this means they're already giving up on Tuesday's start. But it's possible the Brewers could have a 161-game season.
  12. Considering that the last home game of the year always makes me sad, I had a wonderful time today. I got to see most if not all of the ballpark employees - from the guy who takes our parking pass in the Giants/Molitor lot to our guest relations friends to our awesome loge usher - and wish them well for the off-season. They make even crummy games fun to attend. Our awesome loge usher Bill reads Brewerfan, so if you're looking here, hello and thanks again! On the field, the results were mostly happy, though I was blinking back tears as Trevor came out and as Prince left the field. Sigh. Are we certain that Cappy was removed when he was for an ovation? because he had a trainer with him, which worried me a bit. Another small but nice touch was that fans attending today's game received a DVD copy of "The Homestand", the program that aired on ESPN and MLB Network earlier this season. Now I have a nice copy of the program. Somehow we managed a 17-16 record in games attended this year (16-14 in home games, 1-2 on the road). I appreciate the Brewers' efforts and can't wait for April 2011.
  13. Bummer of a game. The highlights for me were chatting in-person with jflick1215 and thablingster. Nice to see you guys. Before entering the park we encountered several Brewers and coaches riding through the parking lots on golf carts, tossing out t-shirts in appreciation of fans. I didn't have my camera ready at all, but the SO and I each scored a shirt. It was a small but nice gesture. I scored a "hi" from each of Jonathan Lucroy, Randy Wolf and Carlos Villanueva. Villa was the most enthusiastic and Wolf the most reserved. Tonight's game puts the hawing party at 15-14 in Miller Park games and 16-16 overall. We'll see what Sunday brings.
  14. Cory Provus is interviewing Mark in the post-game. Mark's first sentence: "It was fun, man." Awesome. I told him to have fun! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  15. Oh noes, it's Big Wes Helms (or as Uecker just said, "The Caveman"). He's in for Burke Badenhop, which is a heck of a name. Edit: Way to finish off the game, Wes. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  16. No, see, the beautiful thing about Rogers wearing 37 is that when I see the route 37 bus in Madison, I don't have to groan to myself while thinking, "Suppan bus http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif" anymore. I just realized this this morning and it made me rather happy. Edit: There's Kameron Loe. And you guys were worried he wouldn't pitch! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  17. Congratulations and good luck to Mark tonight! Have fun. I'll be shamelessly checking my iPod for game updates while ostensibly paying attention to the UW vs. Ohio State volleyball match.
  18. I'd like to know too, BCM17. When Library Mall is unencumbered by utility work, it can accommodate around 20,000 spectators. We learned this in 2001 when the mall hosted UW-Madison's day of remembrance gathering a few days after the terror attacks. That time our balcony was available to Historical Society staff and we had a great view. This time the balcony and our whole building will be used by media and security staff. The only criterion I'm aware of is that the visitors want this rally to be outdoors. Otherwise you'd think they'd have used the Kohl Center instead. Still, it's the first campus visit by a sitting President since 1950, so that in itself is interesting.
  19. I don't want to mar my last post by getting into the Gamel issue, but we also wondered if he might have been hurt when HBP, and removed for that reason.
  20. I'm pleased to report that the hawing party has clinched at least a .500 record in games attended at Miller Park in 2010! The worst we can do now is 15-15. We still need a win on Saturday and/or Sunday to clinch a better than .500 record, both at MP and including road games. Tonight was a lot of fun, despite lacking the degree of excitement of, say, 9/23/2008. Except for Florida's mini-rebound in the 7th (when Yo appeared to me to be clearly running out of gas a batter or two sooner than he was finally pulled), it was just so nice to have a largely worry-free game, not to mention multiple home runs, RBI from my boys Corey and Jonathan, and Luis Cruz's first MLB hit. The weather was summerlike with a robust breeze. The crowd who showed up was probably in the mid-20Ks (not all 31000) and was appreciative of the Brewers' efforts. I also had what is probably my last cactus league taco salad of 2010 and it was a good one. I even tolerated the Camp Randall-style wave, which (if it had to happen at a baseball game at all) was relatively well-timed. What's not to like here? This game will give me some happy memories through the off-season. Thanks, Brewers. P.S. OWBC, since you're in FLA for a while, spring for the Gameday audio at least. Then you can be relieved of the Marlins announcers. I thought I was the only one nerdy enough to read that much detail from the media guides...but I don't read it out loud.
  21. I don't think I've ever seen so many Secret Service agents and police officers around the workplace as I have today.
  22. I didn't see signs on Tuesday, though we were in the Terrace Box. I also didn't notice specific cheering for Brandon apart from the round of applause I and presumably Robin19 gave him.
  23. Huh, and here I thought Laynce Nyx was on the dysaybled lyst. Shows what I know. Edit: I wouldn't have minded spreading some of tonight's runs throughout the series, but blowouts are nice when they happen. Keep it going vs. Florida!
  24. Aww, Dave Bush gets one more appearance in front of the Milwaukee fans. And he didn't break the bat over his leg.
  25. It would be hilarious to see a Kottaras Crush here. Edit: OK, well, at least Casey is up to 99 RBI. Start those practice swings, Mat.
