  1. I'm in the "elope" group too. I think the most likely scenario for the SO and me (someday) is to elope and invite the family to a Brewer game sometime after.
  2. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gifThe radio call is a few seconds behind, but I didn't need to hear Brian Posick because the horn noise reached our block. One, two - we want more! (for red)
  3. Oh, that'll do. Thanks. That game-ending call for Posick and Andringa was as epic as the game. Come on, Badgers, I want to hear another goal horn from our house! Edit: 55,031 at the Camp Randall Hockey Classic - second largest hockey crowd ever. Seeing that many people at the stadium at night, for something not football, reminds me of that 2000 welcome home for the Final Four Badgers.
  4. Bugs and Cranks followed "The Mench Endgame."
  5. What I'd like to see replayed is that triple overtime game with Cornell in 2006 that put the Badgers in the Frozen Four. Preferably with Brian Posick's radio call. Wisconsin women 5, Bemidji State 0. Over the radio I heard someone shout "Ice cream!" And the fans are chanting "1, 2, 3, 4, 5, we want more." http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Edit: Women's final is 6-1.
  6. The Badgers are on CBS in Madison, so maybe TLB is saying he can't get to a TV this afternoon. A friend visited my library on Friday, and while walking back through Library Mall came across Keaton Nankivil. He stopped Keaton to compliment him on the MSU game and they had a two block chat from the University Book Store to Frances St. My friend was beyond thrilled by Keaton's friendliness and willingness to talk to a total stranger (who's old enough to be his dad). Tip of the cap to #52!
  7. I have the radio on to follow the women's game, but we can hear the goal horn from inside our house. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Edit: 4-0 UW women after two periods. I wonder if there will be an "ice cream goal"? and if there is, who will want to head right over to Culver's for a frozen custard?
  8. I was wondering how we'd find out the results of sending in the form. We put ours in the mail on Monday and there is nothing on the credit card statement yet.
  9. Well, now, I said "mildly surprised." http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif I loved the doofus questions from the public at that hearing. They reminded me of questions that people ask at the library.
  10. I too enjoyed the DJ Roomba, and am mildly surprised that 24 hours passed before anyone else commented on it here.
  11. The morning show on WIBA radio in Madison has news/traffic/weather/sports in kind of a loop. The sports segment is preceded by a sound clip from one event or another. Today it was "SWING AND A DRIVE! LEFT CENTER AND DEEP! GET UP, GET OUTTA HERE, GONE! FOR RYAN BRAUN! AND THEY'VE GOT THE LEAD!" It made me feel like the corner to spring is being turned. (edit to get my left and right straight)
  12. For what it's worth, almost every free-shipping order I've made from Amazon has arrived sooner than its 'expected' date. Even in December (when you'd think transaction volume would be high) this has been the case. I imagine they'd rather "pleasantly surprise" you by having a package arrive before their stated deadline than turn you into a bitter wronged customer by estimating too early and having the package arrive after the deadline.
  13. The S.O. just got home and confirmed the rockin-ness. Plus Erin Andrews was there. Edit: He also reported that Jon Leuer participated in the pregame shootaround, still with a cast on.
  14. Oakland is getting a bit of a Tampa Bay vibe, isn't it? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  15. Yeah, I was mostly glad he didn't swerve into me with that huge white Suburban-type vehicle. I was happy with myself for thinking to check the license plate after thinking to myself, "hey, that looks like Jon Leuer." We know there were hoops players at Dayton House last year, when we saw Kevin Gullikson heading out to his moped one night as we walked past on our way home. It's a pretty logical location for anyone who spends a lot of time at the Kohl Center.
  16. It's in Wisconsin's favor that I was once again the good sweetie tonight and gave up my ticket so the S.O. could bring his brother (which worked vs. Purdue, except for the Leuer injury). For what it's worth, on Saturday I saw someone who looked a lot like Jon Leuer driving a Minnesota-license-plated large white Suburban-type vehicle into the underground parking at Dayton House (an apartment building a few blocks west of the Kohl Center, where basketball players have lived before). My point - and I do have one - is that the driver was able to steer the wheel of his vehicle and talk on his phone simultaneously, which maybe suggests that his wrist isn't completely useless. Grasping at straws, is hawing. Sorry. Carry on, and don't let them back in, Badgers.
  17. Suckers like us, ewizabeff...suckers like us. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  18. I was more expecting season ticket renewals to decrease for 2010, due to a combination of the economy and the Brewers' relatively lackluster performance in 2009. Whichever is the case, good for the Brewers!
  19. The current semester began all of ten days ago, so no. Actually, the problem visitors weren't students, but members of the general public, including one who has a long history of pushing the envelope.
  20. Since you can already take a train from Columbus to the Cities, I join other posters in assuming one will eventually be able to take a train from Madison to the Twin Cities. If we could take a train from Madison to reasonably near Miller Park, the hawing household would be 100% all over that. My only reservation would be if a game ran long and we had to either leave a game early or miss the last westbound train. I'm not a fan of a train stopping only at the airport. That would seem to help Dane County (more parking revenue at the airport) and cab companies more than those who want to travel by train. Finding a way to stop on or near the UW campus seems like a no-brainer, especially if you can tie it into sporting events and cut down on vehicle traffic.
  21. The renovation at my library is almost over and today is the big relocation day. What's bugging me is repeated conversations like this: Visitor: I need to use a computer. Me (gesturing around at the chaos surrounding me and the visitor): Unfortunately, our computers are being moved right now. They'll be accessible later this morning. Visitor (now irritated): I need to use a computer. Oblivious people - argh.
  22. Oh, wow, he's an 8 too? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif
  23. As regular navigators of the Blue Mound/Story intersection after games, we've been surprised the last couple of seasons at how often no police were stationed there to help move traffic along. Though I'll readily admit to not being a business owner or bar frequenter, I'd be surprised if $300 for six months of access would break any of the establishments involved.
  24. In Wednesday's mail we received a mailing from the Brewers with two pieces of information: - The 2010 opening day ticket order form for partial season seat holders. There's a form to return by February 5 to purchase up to two tickets per account for Opening Day, in Field Outfield, Loge Outfield, Club Outfield, Terrace Box or Terrace Reserved. - Announcement of the online pre-sale of individual tickets to the other 80 home games in 2010. This sale is limited to season ticket holders and is available from 10:00 AM Friday, February 12 through midnight on Monday, February 15. Marquee games (excluding April 5) have a four-ticket limit, and other games have a 12-ticket limit. Note that season ticket holders can only purchase in the online sale once, so you want to have your ducks in a row before you order. Given these dates, it would continue to make sense that individual ticket sales to the general public would begin on or about February 27. I can say for sure that coming home to mail from the Brewers was a nice counterbalance to the deep freeze weather and my super packed work day.
