  1. An update no one asked for: I ordered the cap in my lead post for the S.O.'s birthday and it arrived today. The ear flaps are not a super snug fit, and I wouldn't rely on it in weather like southern Wisconsin is about to get (flirting with zero); but in less extreme cold - or, as I suspected, April and October games - it would probably be fine. It does look sharp. My S.O. has a good head on his shoulders, but a large one - he has the same hat size as Kevin Mench - but the 39THIRTY comes in Large/XLarge, which fits him, so he's happy to have a MLB hat that he can actually wear. He also now has a nice gift idea for my birthday. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  2. Maybe there will be fewer Suppan starts on national TV (hawing said hopefully). No, I haven't managed to erase that Easter Sunday 2009 game from my mind yet.
  3. I think that's best answered by a Brewers ticket rep. Check with the rep who sold you the 9-pack; you'd think s/he would be interested in entertaining an upgrade. At the very least, I'd guess that if an upgrade were possible, you'd have to select a fan's choice package. Even if your existing nine games all fell within one of the pre-set plans, it seems unlikely that you could get the same location for eleven additional games.
  4. Note that the link supplied by trwi7 also includes information about the online lottery for Opening Day tickets, which can be entered starting at 10:00 AM January 26 and through Tuesday, February 16. (brewers.com link)
  5. Not to get too far off topic, but wow, that seems like a lot of national broadcasts.
  6. My memory is that single-game ticket sales to the general public usually begin in late February. Saturday, February 27 would be consistent with the pattern of recent years. So the Brewers aren't quite out of time to promote it. It only seems that way to those of us with cabin/spring/baseball fever (and I count myself in that group).
  7. They've got enough success elsewhere to make me pretty sure their fans will survive. I guess if the only PSU sport you cared about was men's hoops, that would bite.
  8. Dear Jordan Taylor: In future games, please don't wait so long to get in a good groove. Thanks! Sincerely, hawing P.S. Please hang on, Badgers.
  9. Three points from top-ranked Denver! Nice weekend for Wisconsin.
  10. I was silently rooting for #94 too (since with my seam ripper, needle and thread I could have reversed my jersey numerals and had a fully relevant jersey for the first time ever). Imagine what The Maniac might have had to say about that, though. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Note that I didn't put that in blue.
  11. Your jersey appears to be safe. The active roster shows Sharpie as #25. (So I guess my #49 Davis jersey is now officially retro?)
  12. Imagine me and the S.O. striving not to laugh out loud in front of her when she said that. Perhaps it was the Menchian Menchdome that made her think he looked (even) less like a professional athlete than Carne Estrada or Brian Shouse. Anyway, I'm sure she's pleased to know that Todd Coffey remains in the fold.
  13. Here is an ESPN link. One year, $3.25 MM, $6MM mutual option for 2011. Royals fans can now hold their heads a bit higher?
  14. I find this thread interesting, but between it and the "streaming video will kill cable" thread elsewhere, I am realizing how little programming I watch regularly. Yet another un-American thing about me. Sorry, carry on.
  15. Because his uniform number is not his salary? I'm pleased by this signing. Todd was my mother's favorite Brewer of 2009 - he looks like my brother-in-law - and for the first time since she got FSN access and began telling me her favorite Brewer of each season, she now has a player tee that's good for more than one year. (2007 = Mench; 2008 = Kapler. Yes, her favorite in '07 was Kevin Mench; she said, "he looks the least like a professional athlete.")
  16. I remember this June 2006 game where the Sharpie had 11 strikeouts, then Derrick Turnbow gave up two runs in the 9th to let Washington win. But I enjoyed the 11 strikeouts immensely. (Keeping this on topic is feeling like driving a car with no power steering.)
  17. Cubs suck. Doug Davis owns them. God bless us. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  18. http://www.theonion.com/content/files/images/character6.article.jpg http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/wis/sports/m-baskbl/auto_headshot/2861756.jpeg Rob was sporting different facial hair last night, but to me and the S.O. he is now Smoove. Maybe Smoove W or Smoove-dub.
  19. I'll take Sheets as a Met over Sheets as a Cub.
  20. Well, that was ugly for the Badgers tonight. That I'm the first to comment makes me think that the rest of you were stunned into silence by the ugliness. However, Rob "Smoove" Wilson certainly had some smoove moves tonight. It was about time someone stepped up.
  21. If you'll all pardon one less than substantive post, I just wanted to make sure my avatar is changed back. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  22. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Hey, I've been on the job. But kudos to tristarscoop for the heads-up. So, my Davis jersey returns to semi-relevance! since he surely won't get his previous number back. And for what it's worth, Doug has always pitched well when I'm in attendance. So let's hope our 40 games cover more of his 2010 starts than our 20 games per year covered in his prior stint with the Brewers. Welcome back, Sharpie. Stay well.
  23. On the Brewers' Facebook page, this image appears: http://photos-f.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/hs195.snc3/20256_262479219075_7678514075_3132762_7616282_s.jpg Even I thought of Ken Macha right away, and I'm not nearly as fervent (positively or negatively) about the managers as some fans are. I guess it beats associating 40 with Lil' Ben Hendrickson. As for the retro bobble ideas, at least they seem kind of creative. I hope the Yount 3000th hit-bobble isn't clothed in the 1990s retro uniform, because that's not what they wore in 1992.
  24. If you were free at 10:00 AM, 12:00 noon or 2:00 PM, I would totally take the Minute Maid Park tour. They're buy one get one free this month!
