  1. Mmm, plankton! Yeah, I'm just hoping that I don't make it into any book you write some day. Odds are we've crossed paths without knowing it.
  2. More specifically, you can get one free report per credit bureau per year, so if you plan a bit you can request a different one every 4 months from annualcreditreport.com. Since they're the free versions, you can't see your actual credit score (if I recall correctly), but you can see enough to be able to identify inaccuracies.
  3. At Woodman's this afternoon I saw a woman with three 12-packs of paper towels (and not much else) in her cart. I thought this was odd until I saw the elderly couple whose cart held four 12-packs of sugarfree Rockstar and about 15 boxes of Wheatables (and, once they made up their mind, a small bag of Green Giant vegetables). I know that burniebrewer and other grocery employees on this forum could put my meager observations to shame, but it was hard not to wonder what the heck each shopping party was going to do with the contents of their respective carts.
  4. First thought that went through my mind.Yep, "out of the division" was the first phrase I thought of. Sometime during the 2009 season, I dreamed that the Brewers lost a vexingly close game to a late-inning Mark DeRosa hit. I don't remember if he was with the Cubs or Cardinals at the time. With SF (barring a mid-season trade) he'll only have a chance of doing that seven times in 2010!
  5. I am pretty sure I saw a newspaper ad in the last week that said the High Point location of Jewelers Workshop is about to close. The N. Sherman location is staying open. So the west side location might have less inventory. That's if I remember correctly what I read. Also, I would try Goodman's on State St, at least out of curiosity. One of my college classmates bought his wedding rings there (going on 20 years ago, when the Goodman brothers were still on the job) and his charming story about the experience always made me think I'd at least give them a try if I were looking for jewelry. But I'm not much of a jewelry wearer, so the opportunity has yet to arise.
  6. Nice. I'm not bugged on your behalf.
  7. I think if that happened to me where I have a credit card, my first step would be to contact that institution and politely ask "what the heck?" If nothing else, that records your concern over the matter (in case something fishy did/does in fact happen). If the institution's response is "what's the big deal?" or the like, I would think twice about retaining them as my credit card supplier. Oddball thought that just occurred to me: was it 47 past the hour when you did log in today? Could a time zone difference account for the weirdness? I realize probably not, but I did call it an oddball thought. Sorry, I realize none of my post will probably ease your fear.
  8. I am just now realizing that no, my gifts this year include no Brewers items. Though it's not like I'm lacking overall.
  9. trwi7's second scoreboard link shows the graphics used by Wisconsin Public Television. Thanks to the Big Ten Network, all WPT can do anymore is hockey games. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif In Madison we see some games on FSWisconsin and some (at least half, maybe more) on TVW, channel 3's cable station. The TVW games are also shown on delay on WPT. I don't know why the WPT graphics sometimes appear on FSWisconsin telecasts.
  10. My first thought was to meet the rest of your party at Bay Park Square Mall. It's very easy to find - south of the stadium on Oneida, near where 172 and 41 meet. I wouldn't assume you could leave vehicles there, though. I haven't lived in Green Bay in almost 20 years, though, so I hope someone more knowledgeable than I chimes in.
  11. I would call this a fine choice even if WHS weren't my employer. I've read it, just haven't bought my own copy yet. It provides yet another glimpse of the ultra glory days of baseball in Milwaukee. One photo I particularly love in the book is from the early 1960s (or at least in a chapter describing the early 60s) showing a fan hoisting a case of Schlitz (bottles) into County Stadium. And I'm not even a drinker.
  12. ...while visions of sugarplums danced in some people's heads, radman's thoughts turned naturally to bf.net softball. You're a hero, of some sort. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  13. I'm sorry it hasn't worked for you, Al. We waited until southeast Wisconsin was "in the green" and found the conditions to be reliable. And we got back from Kenosha about 30 minutes before the rain in Madison turned to sleet and now snow. Woot!
  14. The 511wi.gov road conditions map has I-90 between Madison and Janesville in "good winter driving condition."We're just waiting on the rest of southeast Wisconsin changing from "snow covered."
  15. It bugs me when people say "Donder" instead of "Donner," even though snopes says Donder is the original name.
  16. A little while ago, in Madison, I heard the telltale sound of something more icy than snow on our windows. I'm not going outside to see whether it's rain, sleet, or in between.
  17. Nice. The next time the Brewers are in a pennant race and we need an anthem, we should totally link to that video. I wonder if Journey ever envisioned this song being sung by schoolkids?
  18. I'd forgotten about that photo (which I believe you posted in an earlier bf.net thread). The building at right in that photo is my workplace. Happily (perhaps) I was not at work when that storm hit, but instead at Miller Park, watching the Brewers lose to the Rockies. It was an interesting drive home. Getting back to winter, the current NWS forecast for Madison for Thursday is making me feel better yet, especially the "Little or no ice accumulation expected." Fingers crossed.
  19. I can't speak like a weatherman, or weatherperson, but that sounds kind of like the "tornadoes won't hit downtown Madison because of the lakes" assertion, which is a myth.
  20. It must be that mohawk Trevon Hughes insists on sporting.
  21. Quit spying on me! But that thread certainly brought back some memories - though none I particularly needed to relive.I'm going to agree with OWBC, though. I think that graphic you added to his avatar is from 12/1/2007. The S.O. and I walked from our house to the Field House and back through the worst collection of winter precipitation I've ever been in. And the sky looked kind of pink like in the graphic. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  22. I'll second that. It's very clearly explained, even for us non-OWBC types, and as a bonus it's not delivered in a monotone. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Indeed, though the speaker stresses that there is still some time for the path of the storm to change, the currently expected timetable gives me hope that we might not have to stay home for Christmas.
  23. I'm not either, but I can tell you the UW-UWM game is Wednesday night, so you don't spend all of tonight working the remote.
  24. Maybe, maybe not. If I had a SP to spare and the Brewers wanted to negotiate with me, I'd think about their pretty-well-known need for starting pitching and conclude that for that transaction, I'm in a seller's market.
  25. Or Jeffrey Hammonds. At least Suppan was present for his bobblehead day. Still, back to Marquis...I guess if the Nats become a contender now we'll know that at least some STL spare parts are magic. Not the ones the Brewers have, but some.
