  1. I'll reserve a separate post for a mini standing ovation for that half inning. Yaaaaay.
  2. sgtcluels and ewizabeff, who are at this game, should be ashamed of themselves. Ashamed!
  3. Coming home to a rally = Nice. Real nice. Come chat about it, if you wish.
  4. Well, asking them to save face didn't work yesterday. Brewers, if you could at least slow down the pace of shame, that'd be swell. We're off to a birthday party shortly, but if I get back before the game ends, I'll be in the chat for the last potential evening in-game chat of 2009.
  5. From chicagotribune.com: http://www.chicagotribune.com/media/photo/2009-10/49480799.jpg Those signs just don't work for anything. Edit: Nuts, the image changed. The original was of some somber-looking young women holding "It's Gonna Happen" signs (the same kind that was seen too often at Wrigley) with "NOT" markered between It's and Gonna.
  6. Listening on the radio. Also, it was just posted on JSOnline and Drudge. And here I was googling "2016 Olympics" like a sucker. Thanks.I'm not sure how I'd have felt, having Olympians racing literally down the block from me. So I'm OK with this.
  7. Where are you seeing these results? (not disbelieving you, just curious)
  8. This map in Friday's Wisconsin State Journal indicates that the proposed time-trial bicycle route would pass within a block of our house. One block. I could watch Olympians from our bedroom window (though I'd get a better view from our bus stop corner). It sounds both exciting and like a colossal hassle. And that's just a few events. I can't imagine the level of disruption, the closer you'd get to Chicago.
  9. I guess this is "add injury to insult" day. Meh, who says we need more relievers anyway? Seriously, Bob said Roger Caplinger is checking to see if Chris Smith has all his teeth. What else is going to go wrong today?
  10. Nuts, I forgot their magic number is 1. That'll give me incentive to leave work before the game ends, because I don't want to even hear that.
  11. As much as I try not to assume, I had that thought during Wednesday night's game: that by attending Saturday's game, we might have seen the last Brewer win of the year.
  12. I'm shaking my head at Bob's phrase: "16-game winner Jorge de la Rosa." Edit: Also at the third walk to the pitcher today (and the second bases-loaded walk to the pitcher). I don't think I can bear to watch the replay tonight.
  13. I'm sure Counsell, Catalanotto, Hardy, and Cameron will all get at-bats before Gamel does today.Sorry to nit pick, but Catalanotto is not with the team this week due to a death in his family. So that's 'only' three guys ahead of Mat.
  14. The Golden Girls song makes Frank Catalanotto's choice of "Your Love" ooze with testosterone in comparison. Maybe the ladies in the Rockies' fanbase get into singing along? Edit: Hey, shutout averted; and Ryan's now 3 hits away from 200. Yay. edit 2: And we have a winner in the home run inning: $200 for Tom of Lake Mills!
  15. I cringed as I heard Cory utter the now-dreaded "one strike away" phrase. 5 Ks and 5 BBs. Plus Cory just said this reminded him of an early spring training game. Until he described the weather in Colorado, I was certain he meant the quality of the pitching.
  16. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  17. Manny caught a break there on what sounded like a HBP but was called a foul. Now they're but "a double play away"...
  18. If I'm hearing correctly, Coors Field has some odd selections for ballpark music. I'm pretty sure I heard part of "Thank You for Being a Friend" (aka the Golden Girls theme song) as well as the start of Beethoven's 5th. (Though, at least it wasn't "A Fifth of Beethoven.") I don't think they're player at-bat choices, more like between-batter or end-of-inning bits.
  19. Slightly related to weekday distractions from the Brewers: 2009 is my first year as a Gameday Audio subscriber. Is there an archive I can listen to in the off-season? Would I be limited to listening to 2009 archived games? (because if not, I might otherwise dredge up some of the happier 2008 games)
  20. D'oh, sure enough. I'm getting too used to MLB thinking the world revolves around Eastern Time. I'll edit. And this means I won't miss as much of the game due to my meeting. May that be a good thing.
  21. Just to follow up on this (now that the home season is done)...the two transactions for which I used the Brewerfan offer both went smoothly (and both resulted in the Brewers winning http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif). We didn't select any Brewerfan games after June 30, but that has more to do with our already having two 20-packs than any shortcoming of the offer. If you're reading, Jake, thanks again for extending this offer. Here's hoping it can return in 2010.
  22. The Brewers start October baseball. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/indifferent.gif Somehow, I was more jacked about it this day last year. You can save face, just for one day. Please? (if starting lineups appear in the next 45 minutes I'll try to post them; after that I'll be away from the computer until about 2:30) (edited to correct start time)
  23. So, it was a genuine Telly moment, and you weren't being sarcastic. Fair enough.
  24. Apparently giving up five runs was just too close to respectability? I don't know. Or Macha's wondering how the heck he's going to fill innings between now and Sunday. Either way, may the 2009 Jeff Suppan season be the heck done with.
  25. brewers.com link Corey's slide back into first (and Todd Helton's foot) Tuesday night led to injured (and possibly fractured) fingers on his right hand. He's not likely to play again in 2009. Frank the Cat is with his family because his father-in-law died. Could lead to more Patterson sightings over the next few days...blessedly, the last few days.
