  1. I'd accept something good from Casey. And hey, 100 RBI for Ryan. Edit: Or a bobble from The Riot even.
  2. Unfortunately for us, the 2009 Brewers have sort of turned into almost every other team's solution to their respective struggles. But hey, one-hitter averted. Thanks, Yo. Edit: and shutout averted! better yet.
  3. I am enough of a dork - either that, or I'm so eager for a distraction from watching the cubs and my least favorite of their pitchers - that I found a few discrepancies between the month-by-month 2010 schedule and the .pdf 'printable' schedule on the Brewers' website. Monday, May 31 is an off day on the printable schedule, but is the first of a four-game set with FLA on the month-by-month schedule. The LAA series is Monday-Wednesday, June 14-16, on the printable schedule, but Tuesday-Thursday, June 15-17 on the month-by-month schedule. The season ending game (Sunday, October 3 vs. CIN) is not included on the printable schedule. The thing that caught my eye was that there are only 14 games with CIN, which seems odd since there are 15 games with CHC, STL and HOU (18 with PIT). I guess that's why they add the disclaimer, "Game dates and times subject to change." P.S. Any Brewers employees who read this post: I will proofread for your organization! Send me a private message.
  4. It's a tiny silver lining that I have the 2010 schedule to distract me from the present. Zambrano looks extra hateable with the evil-twin-style mustache.
  5. Well, by then I will be amply, amply ready for a Brewers game. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif The $10 seats we had for a 2008 exhibition game were terrific, a few rows behind the Brewers dugout.
  6. I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that we not turn this into a Macha thread, when this one already exists. Thanks.
  7. ...and Bill Hall. Fixed for you Hawing http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif I was going to let you post the Bill Hall props, bensheeps. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gifIndeed, I can already predict my wardrobe choice for the Seattle series, and bensheeps' as well. Where am I missing the exhibition games? (though I'm pleased that they return for 2010)
  8. The press release is now available at brewers.com. I'm using a different workstation and for some reason it is not letting me linkify text, so here is the URL: http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20090915&content_id=6973458&vkey=news_mil&fext=.jsp&c_id=mil They've dubbed 2010 the 40th anniversary season. "Is it April yet?" will translate into Monday, April 5, when the Brewers host Colorado to start the season. Another potential highlight, for this site at least: the Brewers host Seattle June 26-28. May the Muscle still be on the roster!
  9. And here I was sure sgtcluels was honoring the anniversary of Garth Iorg's brief stint as third base coach.
  10. Per the Brewers' Facebook page, the 2010 schedule is due to be released on brewers.com at noon CDT today (September 15).
  11. Linkage Nobody puts Baby in a corner. RIP.
  12. My cub hatred is really percolating tonight. It doesn't help when scrub callups make web gem plays.
  13. At the top of the hour just now, the Weather Channel's "on the 8s" music was Frankenstein by the Edgar Winter Group. They should really save that music for a stormy night with a big squall line coming - not a "areas of fog / low 55" evening.
  14. I wouldn't object, but we're going Friday and Sunday, and coming from Madison three days in a row is problematic. Thanks anyway.
  15. Well, he is speedy...http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif (sorry, I couldn't resist. I have no information to answer your question in a non-snarky way.)
  16. With apologies for continuing the mini-tangent...I saw that article yesterday and felt pretty good about it until I got to the part I bolded above. It reminds me too much of Franci$co Cordero.
  17. Upon reading this 16 vs. 14 debate, I was hoping I could help solve it with the Brewers publications we kept have from 2001 - but the publications don't settle it. The 2001 media guide has a list of promotions "as of January 15, 2001." It's not a complete list and the bobbleheads are not included. The kid promotions that are listed (Wilson Glove Day, WDA Comic Book, etc.) say "14 and under." There was also a "16 and older" screen saver giveaway, which maybe means it sucked to be a 15 year old that year. The 2001 pocket schedule lists the bobbleheads, but it just says Kids - no ages specified. The 2001 Guest Information Guide has what looks like the most complete list, but is also the most confounding. Here is what it says for each of the bobblehead giveaways: The first 10,000 fans, receive a (Jenkins or Uecker or Yount) Bobble Head Doll, courtesy of (sponsor name, which varies with the bobble: Pepsi and Piggly Wiggly for Jenkins, Pepsi for Uecker, Pepsi and Pick 'n Save for Yount). It looks like they intended to insert an age limit, but didn't. For what it's worth, here are the other age limits in that 2001 Guest Information Guide list of promotions: Miller Lite Adult Cap Day - 21 and older Kids Home Opener - 14 and under (baseball cards) Kids Floppy Hat Night - 16 and under Clear Channel Adult Wall Calendar Night - 18 and older (I'm sure it wasn't truly "adult" content; they could have named that better) Wilson Glove Day - 14 and under WDA Kids Comic Book Night - 14 and under Police Baseball Cards Day - 14 and under Miller Lite Umbrella Night - 21 and older Screen Saver Night - 16 and older Adult Sports Cooler Bag Night - 18 and older Kids Miller Park Puzzle Day - 14 and under Edy's/Jewel Osco Lunch Bag Day - 14 and under Kids Cap Day - 14 and under UWM Homecoming Long Sleeve shirt night - 18 and older The majority of kid giveaways that year were for age 14 and under, so in the absence of further proof, I'd lean toward 14. Let's hope the promotions staff saved information more concrete than the Brewers published in print in 2001. (I also checked the archive.org site, but the milwaukeebrewers.com links from 2001 don't go anywhere.)
  18. Hey, the Brewers won! First road sweep since back in June. Came from behind, too. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Welcome back, pitchleague. I know you don't like haiku Glad you saw good games.
  19. The arrows are a new feature, intended to make links more visible to colorblind readers. Also (as always), tip of the cap/pat on the back to Mass Haas. You can relax for a while now, Jim.
  20. Did anyone participate in this, or know anyone who did? I noticed the event sold out rather quickly (attendance was capped at 200 or 300). Just curious...at least those who went saw a decent game on the videoboard.
  21. Annnnd a nice 2 RBI hit from the young shortstop, too. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I suspect I'm in the minority around here in that I'll miss J.J. whenever Alcides succeeds him, but it's a comfort to see that Alcides is next.
  22. Dang, I guess we now know about how long Narveson can currently go.
  23. Casey M. will start Long as R-O-Y race lasts Brews need good P.R. Haiku contest? No... ...but if it leads to more posts Then haiku away.
