  2. My admittedly knee-jerk reaction: "why would someone DFA'd from Cleveland's bullpen be desirable here?"
  3. Come on, Brewers...Tuesday feels like a long time ago.
  4. I suppose doctors, nurses, etc. would bring at least some of their income into Rock County. I'd hope that Blackhawk Tech has some health care programs that could lead to area reasidents getting hospital jobs that aren't doctor/nurse level, but aren't maintenance/laundry level either. Plus someone at the hospital has to do food service, laundry, housekeeping, etc. If I were a Rock County resident, though, I'd be skeptical about whether this is really going to happen. I admit to being surprised when St. Mary's announced that it was going to expand there. Then again, I haven't received Mercy Hospital services since my birth, and I know things have changed super dramatically since then.
  5. It sounds like he says "terry-o" to me.It always, always makes me think of Dance Fever and Deney Terrio.
  6. I can't imagine a scenario where either bullpen could hold either side in check for that long.
  7. I feel you hawing, this thread is my guilty pleasure. I know it hurts to see Russell doing all this for another team, but just getting a Branyan fix makes me happy and puts a smile on my face.Maybe it's more like every time I look at this thread, the same bit of me dies over and over. /dramatic sigh/
  8. Workplace calls like this: hawing: "Hello, (name of workplace)" caller: "Are you open today?" (despite having just heard me, a live person, answer the phone) hawing (sighing inside): "Yes, until 5:00." If I ever resign from this job, maybe I'll do it shortly before a holiday, so I can tell the caller, "No. I'm just paid to sit here, answer the phone and say we're not open."
  9. Yeah, it's not really a JV/forfeit lineup. Maybe Ken chose the order via dice roll. I guess I'll still hope for better than I expect.
  10. I can't top hammytime and pitchleague's plans, but we are supposed to have a meeting of the hawing siblings and nieces/nephews at the Shorewood Hills fireworks tomorrow night. Given how busy the two sibling households usually are, that's no small feat - so stay away, rain!
  11. I guess Liz and Dave are buying at the next game. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif It appears that the construction crew at my workplace have the day off. No construction noise = God Bless America.
  12. Every time I look at this thread, a little bit of me dies inside. O, Russell!
  13. Or the one on ESPN this year? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/ohwell.gif We won't be at the game, which may increase the chances of Soup not sucking. /lunging to knock on wood/
  14. Thanks to the Isthmus weekly in Madison for pointing out this nifty website: Flip Flop Fly Ball Check out the header on the main page: http://www.flipflopflyin.com/flipflopflyball/masthead.gif Robin Yount is at shortstop, the sausages are at far right, and the flags represent the standings as of May 31 (so we know who was atop the only six-team division that day). (here is the legend to the graphic) It's entertaining me, at least.
  15. As someone who's a bit phobic about stinging insects, I can only say, ew.
  16. Fixed. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  17. I'd be pumped about a drawstring bag. Also (just saying...again), the S.O. has promised to buy me a license plate frame if ever it returns to cafepress. Our ride would then be fully pimped.
  18. In 2002, the S.O. got a foul ball hit to TB 417, off the bat of Jose "K" Hernandez. We were in row 2. That's not quite as impressive as 420, but we thought it was remarkable. (I also believe Jose could hear the S.O. heckling him, but that's not relevant to this thread. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif )
  19. I didn't see this posted elsewhere, so I'll post it here: DeRosa injures left wrist (in Tuesday's game)
  20. If you're a 20th-century U.S. history buff (and it's OK if you aren't), and have the time to get over to Independence, the Harry S Truman National Historic Site is pretty neat to visit. It's the house where President and Mrs. Truman spent their married lives and retirement, and it has been left in the same condition it was in when Mrs. Truman died in 1982. The President's coat is literally hanging by the back door. Not everyone would find that cool, but I was taken by it. It reminded me very much of my grandparents' house, and I marveled at how relatively humbly a president lived. Disclaimer: if you're not going until August, never mind, as the house will be closed for renovation starting August 3.
  21. I figured there was something I'd overlooked. Thanks, sdcheezhd.
  22. Not to belittle the effort made in the lead post, but I'm not sure those are all Milton Bradley games.
  23. /golf clap/ That's no small feat!
  24. Tonight's MLB.com standings list 83 as the elimination number for STL, CIN and CHC. I'm not sure how that works since they are not all the same number of games back, but let's go with 83. I won't lie, I was beyond ready for the Brewers to play well while we were in attendance, and I'm very pleased they didn't disappoint. The hawing ticket finishes June with a non-stellar 1-4 mark, but that beats 0-5. Thank you, Mike Burns (and the Mets), for reminding us why the games aren't played on paper.
  25. In Madison there's a shoe repair place where the owner also does zippers. So if the other suggestions don't work for you, try shoe repair after that.
