  1. I'd say, "we scored first!" - except it reminds me of the Don Morton days of Wisconsin football.
  2. Too many H names on the roster for the media to keep up. Well, the Brewers got some hits off the newbie. Come on, Dave Bush. Please.
  3. The radio ad with the David Spade-sounding guy: "Hey, worker's comp, how's it goin? Worker's comp, everybody." http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif
  4. Zach's post is a great segue to asking for suggestions for where to watch a game. I live on the near west side and can get downtown readily, but I realize that's not the case for everyone. The bar scene is not a habit for me, which is why I'm short on ideas. I'm probably just dreaming, but it would be nice to find a venue that isn't ear splitting loud. I'd like to be able to actually converse with people. I'd suggest the Stiftskeller at UW-Madison, but I don't know if the TV there could be tuned to the Brewers. Plus, if the weather is bad, I think whatever's scheduled for the Terrace might be moved indoors.
  5. Does Gameday Audio pick up the pregame show? Edit: never mind, I just found it's on already.
  6. While Figaro could turn in a Chris Saenzesque performance, and the Brewers are on stupid FOX again, and I have to follow from work again (which hasn't worked well the last few times it has happened on a Saturday - like last week, or that horrible doubleheader with STL in 2007)...I'm still going to hope for a better outcome than all the signs suggest. (for some reason, the Yuku spellchecker has flagged "Saenzesque." http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif)
  7. 2:03 rain delay. That's probably longer than the "active" time of the game will be. Of course, STL is way ahead tonight.
  8. If I were a drinker, I'd start a game where you drink every time FSN goes to Telly Hughes and he replies, "Thanks so much, Jeff" (or Davey or Craig or whoever). The Weather Channel's radar looks like there might be a window of opportunity, but the NWS Detroit radar...not so much.
  9. Come chat with us, if you can't see the game. Just a friendly invitation. Scintillating commentary not guaranteed. Edit: I cannot believe I have 10,000 posts, much less that this is how I used my 10,000th.
  10. There you go, saxyman - piping. If I had Cory's email address, I'd alert him to that.
  11. Cory Provus likes to talk, in detail, about the uniforms each team wears for a game. Fine, OK. But he refers to the striping on the Brewers' pants as pinstripes. I wouldn't call those pinstripes. And yes, I realize that if this is my biggest objection, I'm doing really well.
  12. I remember being about 3/4 of the way to Milwaukee for a game with the Royals, and then hearing it was cancelled due to water in the ballpark. I'm going to say 1993 or 1994. 1993 would make some sense because that was such a rainy, rainy summer. We sat through multiple rain delays that season...but it was dry on Umbrella Night.
  13. Oh, I didn't notice Aquino was DFAd. Faltering against the Brewers must have been the final straw. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I'm a bit surprised they're getting a game in; it's got to be soggy at Wrigley.
  14. http://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/watch/ww0473_radar.gif Whoa, so that's what kept many of us up last night. And there was a new severe thunderstorm watch issued at 7:00 this morning, for the state-line counties (Grant, Lafayette, Green, Rock, Walworth), until 3:00 PM. That's an eight hour watch!
  15. Tornado warning just being explained on the weather radio now, for Iowa County. Crap, I'm not going to sleep much at all tonight.
  16. It just rained on the west side of Madison! For about a minute! End days! Edit: then, a minute later, one clap of thunder and now more rain. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  17. Honestly, if I didn't need to get what little sleep I can before the storms hit, I'd suggest a "stormy night" chat.
  18. During a recent chat, Fatter Than Joey and I came up with the idea to try to get Madison area posters together to watch a Brewer game some night - pick a friendly local establishment and just hang out, watch a game, put some faces to screen names, say Yosted, Macha-ed, or Cam Boogie out loud instead of typing it, etc. Forum rules would not apply, but standards for face-to-face interaction would. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I'm starting this thread in Off Topic, just to gauge the level of interest. We thought a summer weeknight might be easier to schedule, given how busy weekends are for so many. Here's a list of upcoming weeknight games: Tues 6/23 vs. MIN Wed 6/24 vs. MIN Mon 6/29 vs. NYM Tue 6/30 vs. NYM Thurs 7/2 vs. CHC Tues 7/7 vs. STL Wed 7/8 vs. STL Thurs 7/16 vs. CIN (6:00 start) Mon 7/20 vs. PIT (6:00) Tue 7/21 vs. PIT (6:00) Mon 7/27 vs. WSH Tue 7/28 vs. WSH Wed 7/29 vs. WSH Then more in August. I know the Madison softball team plays Tuesdays. FTJ, you suggested Thursdays were good for you, but sadly, most Thursdays are either day games or off days. Some of these dates I can't make, in case that matters. If you're interested, reply and suggest dates and/or candidates for where to meet/watch. Pick the right date and you could meet FTJ. Is that reason enough or what? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Thanks for your attention.
  19. I have a feeling whatever hits is in fact going to hit overnight. Yay sleep deprivation. NMF, you'd probably like the storm spotter program the NWS holds every spring. I went to the basic spotter training session in April, at the Alliant Energy Center (I can't say Coliseum in my old-school way this time because it was held in the new part), and it was pretty neat. The slide show in the link provided above by OWBC is the PPT presentation made at the spotter training session - it only lacks video that Rusty Kapela had accompanying some slides - and I thought the whole thing was useful. They pass around a signup sheet for you to provide your contact information to the NWS, but they don't require you to fill anything out / commit to being a spotter. (You do find out the semi-secret 800 number for phoning storm reports in to the NWS.) Since I've been storm phobic for literally decades, I was hoping to get an idea of how to distinguish between what Rusty calls "scary looking clouds" and clouds that you really have to worry about, and the program delivered. [Look for rotation, rotation, rotation, either in the clouds or at ground level.] That was just the kind of tip that I think will help me the next time we're driving home from MP and trying to figure out what we're looking at in the sky. The only drag is that the tips aren't so useful at night, which is when we're most often driving home from games. As Rusty said, unless there's enough lightning to give you a good look at the clouds, you're pretty much screwed after dark. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/ohwell.gif
  20. From the link above: So, it's you and three (3) friends vs. a rooftop's worth of Cubs fans? Or is the rest of the deck reserved for Brewers fans already? I can't help but think it would be the former, which does not sound like all that much fun to me.
  21. You forgot to add that Bob will use the phrase "27 STORM TRACK" every other sentence.
  22. I'll bump this in advance of the stormy forecast for southern Wisconsin today: http://www.crh.noaa.gov/images/mkx/tornado.png http://www.crh.noaa.gov/images/mkx/wind.png
  23. He influenced Wednesday's outcome by turning to Greg Aquino? I'm sure it's not as rare as it feels, but seeing an ex-Brewer who was let go for poor performance continue to perform poorly vs. Milwaukee was very nice and novel.
  24. Didn't he smite them last weekend, when they were audacious enough to take two of three? (and one of those on ESPN, no less)Or maybe the roller coaster series with Milwaukee was their 'punishment.'
  25. That's at least as inappropriate as the Brewers playing "Free Falling" after losses last year. I thought Uecker's play on words during a spring training a few years back was "spring hopes attorney." I don't feel motivated to check right now, though.
