  1. Even more than two in the chat wouldn't be a crowd. Nice first, Mike Burns.

  3. In pretendastronaut's apparent absence, I'll at least start the thread. Get back on the bike, Brewers, and try for 1-0 for tonight.
  4. I'm all for happy endings to threads, especially when cooperation between members is involved. Thanks for the update!
  5. I've never really been a chicks-dig-the-long-ball chick, but that swing is some kind of eye candy. Thanks, Mat!
  6. I'll stop in from the chat to wish Mota ill. I'll never forget that July 3 game last year. Edit: OK, not ill, but not success. At least they tied it and Billingsley can't get a decision.
  7. Has the booth chimed in yet with the inevitable "The Dodgers haven't hit all that many home runs this year." ?
  8. Nice, J.J. Let's get this thread onto a page two (for those of us who display 20 posts per page).
  9. Well, they're holding their own so far...more or less. Come on, Brewers.
  10. So DeRosa's tendon tear must have been way less serious than Rickie's, if he can contemplate a mid-August return vs. being declared out for the year within 24 hours of the injury.
  11. http://www.kesslersdiamonds.com/images/swap/shh_rk.pngI think this is him. I am in agreement with Diskono. Fortunately, I'm not much into jewelry, so staying out of Kessler's all my life should not be too difficult. And yeah, that science-y "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" thing is a national PSA, as it has aired in Madison too.
  12. The Maniac wears number 94 (lives at 94th and Blue Mound, if I recall correctly). It just seemed weird that we haven't seen him in a while; and it's not like we haven't been to our share of games lately.
  13. I've hated on the Family Circus for longer than some of you posters have been alive, or literate at least; so I would like to use this thread momentarily to thank JoeHova for making me laugh. And yeah, I second (or third or fourth) the "lame" opinion on this cartoon.
  14. If fans of any age are being hip checked or shoved so ball guy can get another ball, that comes close to (if not crosses) the "harmless" line for me.
  15. One of the first things I did in college was to take a writing test in Mayer Hall, the morning after moving into the dorms. Honestly, when the radio news in Madison said the other day that a longtime Madison businessman had died, I figured it was one of the Goodman brothers. I did not realize that an Oscar Mayer was (had been) still alive.
  16. The Brewers need a copy editor for their Gameday programs. I'd do it. Casey McGahee. Hmph.
  17. I put dibs on Faberge eggs, like Bleeding Gums Murphy. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  18. Do you suppose it's too much to ask that the Brewers at least put 90 pitches on Pineiro's arm today? (he's at 85 going into B-9th) Edit: at least Rivera got him to 90. Aim for 100 now. You can do it!?!
  19. I imagine the red-t-shirt "classy" crowd wouldn't mind. (though I have to admit, the STL visitors last night didn't seem numerous or in our faces, even when the game was going their way)
  20. We usually see "The Maniac" walking home from Brewers games along Blue Mound Road as we head westward/homeward. But it's been probably over a month now since we saw him. Has anyone seen him at games recently? This is just one of those nagging questions that I've been forgetting to post here for a few weeks, since I only think of it when we're headed west on Blue Mound. Imagine if he hasn't been to games since May. Maybe that helps explain the team-wide scuffling.
  21. I won't lie; I had my eyes shut and was just hoping the crowd reaction was happy/relieved instead of groaning. My psyche desperately needed a happy diversion tonight, so I'm very glad the Brewers held on. From the Elvis impersonator singing the national anthem to Hell's Bells at the end, it was entertaining most of the time, and (as previously mentioned) definitely a grinder. Soup was adequate; I guess I'll take adequate. I happily delivered a 'sieve' chant to Chris Duncan after his miscue in LF, but I don't think he saw me. I booed TLR whenever he appeared from the dugout. Skip Schumaker appears to have grown a porn-style mustache. Not sure what that brings to the table.
  22. Yeah,if you want a tasteless but mildly amusing T-shirt idea, make fun of the falling pieces of concrete at Wrigley, not players' nationalities.
