  1. Does this means the Twins have been Boofed?
  2. I'm a fan of the 'thrill' posts for sure...though I think there are ways to express agony other than outright insults of players.
  3. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad there's baseball to follow, but five months between Cubs series isn't quite enough for me. Go visitors. Make HoHoKam into Maryvale East. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  4. I was interrupted frequently while listening Wednesday afternoon, but I did detect some similarity. Either that or it was just wishful thinking on my part. It'll be a while before we have a reasonable sample size (and I do want to hear him do a Brewers-Cubs game), but I certainly feel better about this selection than I did when it was first announced.
  5. In three feet of snow. Throwing underhand. Barefoot, of course. The game was June 20, 2006 vs. Detroit at Miller Park. Rick was lights-out in the top of the first, but by the Brewers' 3rd inning was behind 8-0, en route to a 10-1 loss. We attended that game, and the experience clearly peaked early that night. Unless you count Corey Hart's RBI single to score Corey Koskie and break up the shutout in the bottom of the 9th.
  6. I'm on board so far. Tomorrow vs. the Cubs might tell us a bit more, but I'm much more confident than I was earlier this month.
  7. Yeah, so far the only obvious baggage is his history as a cubs fan. Of course, it is a small sample.
  8. I suppose that's part of the point of spring training: to weed out the chaff. If in fact Jorge J. is the chaff.
  9. So far I'm feeling like the gameday audio purchase was $15.00 well spent.
  10. Yeah, I know the building. Do you know obsessedwithbrewcrew? He's in the AOS department too.
  11. Surely THIS is Taint McFadden.
  12. What building are you in? (not looking to stalk, just curious)
  13. If Soup kills the Brewers' momentum by giving up a leadoff dinger (like he did in his last start, not that anyone here has forgotten), then maybe the OTC-drugged kids won't feel as bad about it?
  14. To my knowledge, the Brewers have never played a game on my birthday before. So I'm excited today, too. Plus it's our first opportunity to hear Cory P. call for the good guys. WTMJ is carrying today's game. I even signed up for Gameday Audio (since stupid WIBA can't pre-empt its precious weekday talk shows to broadcast the Brewers today. This means there had better be something extremely important on 1070 this afternoon).
  15. I have no problem pointing out cubfan1126's very nice post in one of my favorite threads ever on this site. Kudos to you, too. (I really should move that thread to WOAH SOLVDD.)
  16. It's my birthday and the Brewers are playing today. Granted, spring training, but I don't think there has been a Brewer game on February 25 before. Thanks, World Baseball Classic! Edit: Three of my student employees collaborated last night to make a dozen cupcakes for my birthday, some looking like baseballs (white icing with red trim) and the others Brewers-themed (yellow icing/blue sugar and blue icing/yellow sugar). Plus a homemade card. This day is getting sweeter and sweeter (literally and figuratively).
  17. (emphasis mine) Oh, Jimbo, I know when you went to school here. Was the prof actually talking about a football bowl game with a straight face? Or was he remembering the relative glory of whatever the most recent z-list bowl the Badgers had played in a few years before? (Garden State or whatever; I know you'll correct me)
  18. I have not been there, either for the tour or for a funeral (knock on wood). We just drive by there fairly often is all. Sorry to take your topic on a tangent, Jamie. I think we should kidnap Jamie and make him see this display. Imagine the nightmares. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  19. It's the Cress Funeral Home (used to have Sanfilippo in the name too, I don't know if it still does) on University Avenue, out toward Middleton. linky goodness
  20. What is this forum for? The In-Game Thread forum is for discussing each Brewer game of spring training, the regular season, and (god willing) the postseason. One thread will be started for each game. Another thread can be started for each day's games that do not involve the Brewers. What kind of discussion is appropriate here? In-game threads (IGTs) are a handy way to archive discussion pertaining to specific games, and are fun to look back on later as well. Since most IGT posts are made while a game is in progress, they are inevitably more impromptu than posts in other forums. Still, with the exception being guidelines pertaining to one-line messages, IGT posts are subject to Brewerfan's general Fan Forum Etiquette. Here are some examples of what to do and what not to do in IGTs: Do... Describe plays in detail when helpful. Discuss umpires' calls, scoring decisions, matchups, substitutions/strategy. Discuss what's going on in the park and what the broadcasters are talking about. Offer relevant links related to the game itself. Don't... Discuss non-Brewer games in the IGTs for Brewer games, or vice versa. Use the thread to discuss issues that are largely outside the scope of the game. Use the thread to insult players or team staff. There are all kinds of bad decisions in baseball, but players and staff are not bad people. A bad pitch does not make Jeff Suppan an idiot; a misplayed grounder does not mean that Prince Fielder is garbage. Declare the game over before the score goes final. Despite a universe of statistics, baseball regularly provides proof that nothing is a sure thing. Should I be doing play by play commentary? No. Virtually all Brewer games are covered in real-time by a plethora of sports websites, so there is no need to provide a play-by-play or inning-by-inning recap, solely to list what happened. Exceptions: Describing specific plays in detail for posters who can't see a filthy pitch, web gem or other remarkable action. For example, if you're watching a game on TV and a member who's following by radio asks how on earth Rickie got to that grounder in time to turn the double play, feel free to chime in with your observations. Providing general recaps for spring training games, which tend to get less media coverage than regular season and postseason games. Finally, to try to keep IGTs organized and easy to sort/locate, we've developed a usability guide for IGTs. It can be accessed from most IGT forum pages via the row of links directly above the discussion area. Templates for starting threads, along with information on how to use them, are included in the guide. Thanks for your attention and enjoy the in-game discussions!
  21. I already knew that, but even if I hadn't for sure before reading the "father" part in your post above, your series of WWE avatars might have given me a clue. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif (Also playing the percentages, knowing that most of this community is male.) And if that weren't enough, there was a boy named Tracy in my elementary school class - not you - so the notion of a guy being named Tracy doesn't faze me.
  22. EDR, did your dog simply give the rodents a lashing with her tongue? Because it looks big enough to do the trick.
  23. Honestly, whenever I see Devin Harris, I don't think of shots like that, or his last second free throws that March night in 2003...no, for some reason I think of the Devin that was hangin' with his ladies in the Regent St. McDonald's when ESPN had that three-part mini series on the Wisconsin basketball program. That's a cool shot, though.
  24. Yeah, while there's not much "profit" in the public sector (at least not my small part of it), most cuts made at my employer over the last decade have been to administrative services functions (HR, financial, maintenance), in order to preserve the positions of professional staff who work with the public. My division has definitely been squeezed this decade, but I have to admit our losses pale in comparison to those absorbed by the relatively "behind the scenes" offices. Still, under those circumstances I'd like to think they might appreciate colleagues who are at least trying to work with them. OK, I'm done.
  25. EDR's calling me weird. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif I totally forgot about obsessedwithbrewcrew. How many sports websites have their own Weatherman? That alone would put him on the list, but I also appreciate his stance on baseball.
