  1. Per the TV listings, FSN Wisconsin is showing a half-hour Brewers Season Review tonight at 9:00 PM CST. We stumbled across this about two weeks ago and enjoyed it. If you've been feeling lonely for highlights of that last week of the regular season, they show them a lot. There's too much of Coshun and Davey for my taste, but the highlights help make up for that. The program will also be aired at 2:00 PM CST Tuesday 12/2 and 4:00 AM CST Sunday 12/7...and probably plenty of other times over the course of the off-season.
  2. It's just starting to stick to the sidewalks and parts of the streets in Madison, at almost 4:00 PM CST. I thought I'd seen TV reports yesterday predicting lake effect snow in the Milwaukee/Racine/Kenosha corridor, but I could be wrong about that. Or it could be yet to come.
  3. I fully agree - TGJ's hit was the true start of the spiral. Thus, I was expecting the story to cite TGJ as the starting point, not the game 163 his hit helped force. So does this make it harder or easier for the Brewers to ever trade little T to the Padres?
  4. Our next door neighbor just got a snowblower and has been eager to try it out. Now that the winter storm warning area has shifted far enough west to include Dane County, I think he'll get his wish. Fortunately, he's the type of neighbor who'd offer to snowblow our property as well.
  5. You know, when I look at this thread title in the off-topic thread list, with the page numbers after it (currently 1,2,3,4,5,6), it makes me think of Hockey Phil: One, two, three, four, five, six...we want more! Sorry, carry on with the real hockey talk.
  6. Sunday's forecast has a winter storm warning for southeast Wisconsin and I'm the first to post about it? Truly, this board has taken the holiday weekend off. http://www.crh.noaa.gov/images/fxc/mkx/wx/File.png
  7. Yeah, I'd never heard of Foster's before seeing this. And you can now count me among those bf.net posters considered an internet nerd by their loved ones.
  8. We were in Kenosha yesterday, for a nice dinner in a smoky house that didn't particularly help me get over my cold. However, the smokers in the S.O.'s family refrained from lighting up while we were there, so I guess I have something to be thankful for. Plus gas in Kenosha was $1.69. I'm working Friday - not in retail, for which I'm also thankful - but I'm a little grouchy this morning as a result.
  9. Actually, upon seeing the thread topic, I was expecting a TGJ mention.
  10. If the Brewers are Swindled next year, will that be a good thing or a bad thing?
  11. Nooooooooo! No No No. Please, stay. (sorry for the knee jerk reaction, but I'm already having a crummy week)
  12. Joe, maybe I should have used a tinge of blue in my post. I was thinking back a few years to when the Brewers cancelled the winter tour, citing the difficulty of getting players to Wisconsin in January.
  13. "Slipping on ice" in Pennsylvania in November doesn't sound all that bizarre. Slipping on, say, an ice cube on the floor of his LA condo, would be much more so. This still makes me wonder how the Brewers are willing to risk bringing players to slippery Wisconsin in January for the On Deck thing.
  14. Agreed. We didn't make the trip for that snowed-out event (which I think was the second year it was held at Brookfield Square), but since it was a free event, we just shrugged and moved on. I can accept an admission fee for the event, but I'm reluctant to pay $30 for two tickets this early on - not because I'd rather pay $40, but because it'll be the week of January 24 before we have any idea what the weather will be like that day. $30 could otherwise cover one of our terrace box games in 2009.
  15. The Brewers magnet set I ordered through the Journal Sentinel arrived today. Assembling it was the perfect distraction from the UW-Cal Poly game.
  16. Well, maybe not anyone who's been allowed to stay. I'll agree, by and large the Brewerfan community has been helpful and trustworthy.
  17. After spending the first seven seasons at MP in the terrace box, we added a loge infield 20-pack for the 2008 season and loved it immediately. Sections 216-221 are in front of the press and scoreboard operations areas. I enjoy sitting there and hearing the press box announcements (attendance, play scoring, why a player left the game) before Robb Edwards (who sits behind us) announces them to everyone. I wish I had thought to turn around on September 28 to see how Bob and Jim reacted to Ryan's miracle blast, but I was kind of distracted at the time. If stuff like that sounds appealing to you, see if you can score seats in one of those sections, or at least move there eventually. The loge infield also provides pretty solid opportunities for catching foul balls - with less risk of injury from a screaming line drive, like you might be more likely to experience in the field level. The S.O. caught a foul ball off the bat of Hunter Pence last May - just reached up and barehanded it. (I like to think of the ball as being pitched by Manny Parra.) If you need a little extra convincing...the Brewers made the playoffs the year we got the loge seats. If that isn't an endorsement, I don't know what is. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

  19. Davego's an educator. I'll have faith in his statement. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Given the choices, I'm not certain I want to meet anyone who would choose D first.
  20. Regarding WKRP in Cincinnati, all I have to do to get the S.O. laughing is to say, "As God is my witness..." (especially as Thanksgiving nears) I just tried it now and it worked again. Seriously, the rights-holders to the music should get over it once per year so that the WKRP Thanksgiving episode airs every Thanksgiving week. Here is a summary for anyone who's unaware.
  21. So Ryan's already given up on the Brewers as a 2009 WS team? Oh, man. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif
  22. Elsewhere on the board, I thought someone had said that only current terrace ticket treat customers could continue with that package (i.e. no new TTT accounts). Indeed, here is the post.
  23. Good heavens, Cops will have made it to 20 years on air this coming March.
  24. I asked our ticket rep about the clubhouse sale, and he replied today while I was at lunch. There will be a clubhouse sale, Friday-Sunday, December 5-7. So I think I know what I'm doing with my day off on Friday, December 5. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  25. Well, getting a baseball fix in late January makes a lot more sense to me than waiting until the weekend or the day before the season begins. However, it would be a bummer to fork up $30 for two advance tickets and then have to sit here in Madison because of icy roads or something. (I wonder what made the Brewers less worried about players having to travel to Wisconsin during winter. You'd think the 2007-2008 winter would have scared them off for even longer.) I'm not into autographs like many of you are, so that part is not the draw for me. But a mid-winter baseball fix, that could work. Maybe Brewerfan posters could wear their bf gear and we can flash 3TO symbols at each other or something. Though with or without gear, I seem to be identified by at least one of you at every Brewer event I attend. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/ohwell.gif
