  1. Jamie Moyer's birthdate is November 18, 1962. This would be like having me start for the Phillies tonight (if I were a MLB-caliber athlete).
  2. I've never had one either. I stand with Jamie in no-Big-Mac solidarity. I've also never had Taco Bell food, and don't intend to start. But that's another topic for another thread.
  3. I can tell you why Houston's still in the hunt: because of this thread. It was totally bulletin board material. As for the CHC-STL game tonight...Kerry Wood, feel free to give up late runs at any time on the 16th-18th and 26th-28th.
  4. If you were at the Sept. 8-10 Reds series and have a Gameday program to spare - it should be no. 24 - would you send me a PM? The programs frankly don't interest me as much as they did in '06 and '07, but I've managed to get every other issue this year (and am in line to get the last two as well) - so I figure it's worth asking. If you are interested in a trade, I have extra copies of many (not all) 2008 Gameday programs, as well as a couple from 2007. Thanks in advance.
  5. I was going to say, I'm pretty sure I generally used to be pleased when Todd Coffey came in to face the Brewers. I mean, if he doesn't have a bone spur in his elbow like good ol' Riske, maybe he'll be less vexing to watch. If my media guide is any indication, it looks like Todd will be the first Brewers player to wear number 60 at the major league level. And as for Laynce being desygnated for assygnment? All I can say is Y, oh Y?
  6. 3-3 in the 7th. http://www.growingtreetoys.com/images/products/bg/006367.jpg (worked yesterday)
  7. Get down! http://www.3-x.nl/images/front/25064.jpg
  8. Why is Kapler out of the game? (I realize that "why TGJ" is a whole separate question.)
  9. Brewers, just turn the switch back to this position: http://shop.razor.com/images/P/MX350_on_switch_lg.jpg Please? We could use a break from panic mode.
  10. Here is an article about the Large Hadron Collider. And silver linings? I don't know. I guess since the current skid began so abruptly, there's no reason why it can't end just as abruptly.
  11. Seeing brewerfan.com is correct, in this particular case. Your donation is not going to the loser who began squatting on that URL years ago. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  12. How long did this place last? It seems like it was closed during every game we attended in August, up through last Friday; then by last Sunday (9/7) the "closed/open" hours sign was removed from the door. I liked the idea, but it seemed pretty geared to foot traffic, which for us (coming from out of town and parking at the ballpark) is practically never an option.

  14. This quote appeared in both the Wisconsin State Journal and Capital Times: I assume the last sentence is the one you're looking for. Capital Times link Wisconsin State Journal link
  15. No shame, DatHoser. They still do the one-two-three etc. we-want-more chant, led by the same guy as always. The "we want ice cream" would start when the Badgers have four goals, because you can take a ticket stub to Culver's for a free scoop of custard if the Badgers score five in a game. The Brewers have the Burger Run, Badger hockey has the ice cream goal. Oh, and silver-lining-wise...I'm glad at least some of us are still finding silver linings in things.
  16. I think what Dmiles23 meant is that full and 20-pack customers are told straight up where they will be sitting, if they opt for postseason tickets (however near or far from their regular seat location) - not that they all get their 'regular' seat location.
  17. Yes, it is different from being a Yuku supporter. Think of this "donation time" as the annual rent being due to Yuku. The reason we haven't owed since January 2007 is because of the deal Yuku offered Brewerfan when Brian agreed to have the board migrated from ezboard to Yuku last year. This is not to say that being a Yuku supporter doesn't also help, but that's not brewerfan-specific. (I'm sure Brian and/or 1992casey will fine tune my explanation if necessary)
  18. That's a nice piece of work. I hope the lyrics come true!
  19. I agree that it doesn't look favorable on paper, but look back to August 5 and the Brewers (behind Dave Bush) did all right vs. Volquez. Play the game well, guys. Eyes on the prize. OK, eyes on the ball first. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  20. I'm not heavily invested in the Packers, and I'm not hoping for a major injury for them by any means...but that is funny. datrain711, the Packers will surely be on at least half the TVs in the concourse, and the Brewers will probably post scores occasionally on the videoboard. Just a heads-up on how difficult it probably will be to avoid the Packer score.
  21. Thanks, Mets After all the crappiness today, the cushion's the same size. Keep your eyes on the prize. Hold on.
  22. Revolver (Beatles).
  23. Ah, bensheeps, it's just lucky I thought to tuck a second plastic bag in with my things before we left the house. Years of experience. You can repay me with a retro bobble. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Ironically (touching on a comment by reillymcshane), part of my game day experience today was trading for a Kevin Mench signed ball. Kevin was my mother's favorite Brewer of 2007 and she has a Mench shirt as well. This game was a stinker, but I can think of one worse one we attended: the blowout loss to the Dodgers in 2002 that featured Shawn Green's four-HR day. Glendon Rusch had managed to pitch the Brewers right out of the game within 10 minutes of the first pitch. At least Manny held it together a little longer today. Just my opinion. Also, I understand logan's reasoning and would like to someday see a no-hitter or perfect game - just not at the Brewers' expense. The only "positive" I would have taken from a Chris Young no-hitter today would have been the possibility for it to wake the Brewers up (as last year's no-hitter did) and send them on a tear. So I was relieved to see the no-no broken up.
  24. Wouldn't this be the first time this event was held somewhere other than MP? I am not familiar with the Riverside Theater but I'd imagine it would hold more people than the Metavante/.300 Club; and that would help account for the dramatically reduced ticket price. I'd typically be a bit wary of putting up money when a January 23 blizzard could leave us out of luck, but otherwise it sounds appealing.
  25. Jim I think is one of the best. I was listening to him the other day when he was talking about the Cardinals losing, and he was talking about waking the sleeping giant and it was back to sleep. I couldn't stop laughing, it was great. He's been referring to St. Louis as "the sleeping giants" (instead of the Cardinals) a good bit since that Villa-Pujols thing. I'm partly hoping it becomes as consistent a part of his vocabulary as "Meltdown Bradley." I'm an unabashed fan of Jim Powell, and I hope he stays with the Brewers for a long time. To keep this post at least a bit on topic, Brian Anderson's style is a better match for me than was Daron's. I don't have a problem with BA staying on, though admittedly I turn to the FSN team much less often than I do Bob and Jim.
