  1. ...and the 100-loss season is averted! (Thanks in part to that PNC rainout. Let's hope that won't be the only reason why.)
  2. Apparently 98 is enough. Think Vizdog can protect an 11-run lead? I hate having a reason to ask that. Edit: That Rob Deer Fan Club link is awesome. All hail the prophet Branyan!
  3. Kudos to Sharpie too.
  4. Oh, swell. Now it's that much harder to get to 70 wins (or whatever number you've been dreaming of). Time to crank up the grit, I guess.
  5. This is the kind of series I really like to attend - small crowds, mainly diehards, room to stretch out (if you aren't in a seat-police section), the players can probably hear you even if you're up in the terrace. But the first week of classes is just too hectic. I didn't even get to look at gameday until the game was over. Why can't the Brewers take a road trip this week every year? And (looking ahead) why oh why is lil Wes listed as Friday's starter on the Brewers' webpage? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/indifferent.gif
  6. Can we arrange for an intervention to cut Craig Wilson's mullet? Maybe it would sap his strength, a la Samson. Geez. Which one is the 'disgusted' emoticon?
  7. Vizdog has a scoreless eighth? Wha???
  8. It looked like M.S. to me, and my guess (while Daron and Bill were remarking on what that could possibly be) was the Indy Indians employee, Mike Schneider, who died last week - as was mentioned in the Minor Leagues forum here at bf.net.
  9. But would you rather have a higher quality loss #13?
  10. So, Daron said that Krynzel is driving from Indy. Can't spring for airfare? Maybe he will be out of Chicagoland traffic before the game enters the 18th inning. Well, drive carefully, Dave.
  11. Ah, yes, the daily/nightly "see, they won't shut us out" play. Thanks, fellas.
  12. Have they announced tonight's "attendance"? I switched to radio a while ago, but the park just *sounds* empty. Edit: 23,512. Well, it keeps the pace at 2.15M...
  13. Yeah, Lil Ben is the man of the night. Mike Adams....isn't. It's getting almost predictable.
  14. Could someone fill me in? I can see Ned was ousted but what exactly was disputed? Notice I'm refraining from asking why the (#$*( Viz is pitching the 9th.
  15. The Brewers have tied it up? WHA?!?!?!? I'm pleased to stand corrected on my settling for a 2-1 loss. Only thing that worries me now is the bullpen. You know.
  16. I've continued to wonder if there's a reason we held onto Viz after 2003. Part of me, though, is just so grateful for Sharpie giving us as much of a chance as we had. Compared to the last two night(mare)s, if the final is "only" 2-1, I'll be almost content. How sad is that?
  17. Sweet, merciful rain. Keep falling.
  18. JP just called this one of the ugliest outings of the season. And he's the upbeat one. And now Jeff Bennett's warming up. It's Pitching Showcase Night. Lord-a-mitey, I can't even think of a cliche that expresses what I've felt these last two games. Bad. Yuck. Boo.
  19. at least we wont be no hit. How far did the Brewers drag me down as a fan in 2002? During that season I began to approach games with a mental checklist: 1. Avoid the no-hitter. 2. Avoid the shutout. Some days, anything else was gravy. Now I always think to myself after the first Brewers hit, whew. Seriously. But it sounded so plausible for the Brewers to serve up nothing tonight, against the Cubs, thanks to Hothead, etc. Hence my freaked out post a little while ago. I feel a little better now.
  20. Zambrano no-hitting us through 5. We better not get no-hit. Oh, no. No no no no no no no no no no (ad infinitum). At the hands of the Cubs? Courtesy of Hothead Zambrano? At Wrigley "falling apart" Field? We've heard the rhetorical question, "how bad can it get?" And this would be it, if it holds together. Utter. Rock. Bottom.
  21. If Branyan comes back to earth, which is inevitable, this last month plus is going to be brutal. You mean we aren't there yet? Sorry, Batman - I know what you're saying, but today's game just got agonizing, and (for me) pretty nearly spirit-breaking. The only thing that could have been worse was if I'd been to Saturday night's game as well. The best thing today - besides the action from the only Major Leaguer ever named Trent (thanks to the scoreboard team for that factoid) - was very possibly the "Battle of the Mascots" kickball contest before the game, apparently to celebrate Bernie Brewer's birthday. That bullpen! Bad yuck boo.
  22. It's like they're trying to make it as difficult as possible to be a fan of the Brewers. No kidding. Driving back to Madison from Darlington tonight, I couldn't get 1070 on the radio until we were east of Mt. Horeb...just in time to hear Viz walk Thome and then promptly give up the game. West of Mt. Horeb, there was no sports on the radio but the Packers. Besides, this, my brother and mother (who live in Darlington and Monroe) have no Brewers access. My brother's cable lineup will change next month to include Fox Sports Chicago. I imagine this is because the cable company is based in Waterloo, IA and they assume everyone in their area follows the Cubs (who of course are notoriously hard to find on TV). My mom has Dish Network, which in her area at least does not include FSN. I don't know how (or whether) the Brewers manage to connect with anyone southwest of Madison.
  23. Didn't this happen last night? Or something like it...
  24. I have no comment...just wanted to see this game thread get off page one. Of course, as I write this the Phillies go deep. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif What's up with Wes' goatee?
  25. "I think if Yost tried to justify playing Helms over Branyan right now, he'd get run out of town on a rail." I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see this stopping Ned.
