    Anyone want to try to explain the fascination with Jeff Bennett? Because a stable lead runs counter to the Brewers' popular gritty battler image? I mean, aren't you more on the edge of your seat now than you were five minutes ago? That's the Jeff Bennett brand of excitement, baby. That's all I've got.

    I just checked ESPN and they still say 2-2, yet they haven't gone to a mythical 10th inning. ESPN also reports that Counsell left in the 6th with a right knee injury. Could I hope that that's wrong too?

    MLB Gameday is how I follow the game... I prefer it to ESPN... I find ESPN has too many delays in between pitches, then makes them up 10 at a time... Usually that's not a problem for me on espn, as I don't get to watch the computer constantly while at work. But I have mlb gameday displayed now.

    Some props to Victor. If he keeps pitching like that in the day, might have to remove that Sleepy/Vampire nickname. Maybe a 2:20 start is just late enough (compared to 1:05). http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Plus there was that rain delay. And thanks for the score clarification. I thought it was weird to read the "finally on the board" comment a while back when no score appeared for the Brewers. Now it all makes sense and I have scorned ESPN for the time being.

    "Do we really have no better option for the 7th of a tied game than Jeff Bennett." I'm looking at ESPN game update and it says 2-1. Is it really tied instead?

Achievement award for the six-run-yielding Rocket? YANNI? I'm almost hankering for Daron & Bill. Should-a started Sheets.

    SenatorShriv is on target - that was about the quietest 31,000+ crowd I've been in, including during the first. Even the few Reds fans we saw weren't doing anything during their team's comeback. I was as disappointed as anyone else in the pitching lapse(s) - let's make Victor's nickname "Night-n-Day" - but Brooks' double in the 9th was the first non-Overbay hit since the first-inning parade of singles. That's more damaging. You need a strategy other than "score early and hold on". Something interesting we noticed midway through the game (before the pitching went south): Everyone in the bullpen seemed to have their arms raised at one point. I got out the binoculars and saw that they had created an arch by holding up their caps - for Kolb to walk under. It was kind of like a royal entrance. This was charming until the 9th. Now I'd prefer they didn't try it again.

    Tonight was just great. - Genuine summer weather - A big crowd **that was largely Brewers fans** http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif - Ben being the man (again) - Some home team offense - And bobbleheads of Gorman, the first Brewer I worshipped - and we scored one in each uniform (blue and white). I almost don't want the all-star break to interfere.

    Even the Brewers bean counters must be happy. Total attendance for the series is 129,606. (45016 + 42295 + 42291) That's a ka-ching series to boot.

    Hey, gregmag, glad to see that your (rare) trip to Miller was so loaded with goodies, most especially a home team win. I don't know how many times I thought to myself today, "no way is 1-0 going to hold up." But I am sooo glad it did. Golden Ben and Dan K-olb are my latest personal saviors. I imagined the media reports saying it was the Brewers' all-stars who won this game (Craig's effort notwithstanding). I have to admit, after the taunt fest that was last September's Cubs-at-Brewers series, I was not looking forward to another bout with Cub Nation. (The Cubs are one thing, their fans quite another.) I think the 60-40 Cub/Brewer split estimated by the media was about on target. But we had better luck today - this time we weren't the only Brewers fans in our section and the Cub fans around us were fairly tame - even before the first inning ended. For once, sitting in the family section helped. Still, many Cub fans could use a lesson in the meaning of "designated smoking area". One thing that surprised us, crowd-wise: From our vantage point in TB 417, we can see the path pedestrians take on their way toward the Brat Haus area parking lots. Today as we left the seating bowl, we noticed what looked like pedestrian gridlock along that corridor. The gridlock lasted more than a half hour after the game ended. (Fortunately we park in the north lot off Blue Mound.) We've been to our share of sellouts but have not noticed such long lasting gridlock along a walkway before. Is that common? (considering how common a sellout is at MP) I'll head out to watch Madison fireworks with relief now.

    Yeah, are we the only ones who realize the danger of leaving lil' Wes (have to distinguish them somehow) in this long?     Umm, it was 10-4 when I left work. And it's only a 20 minute walk from work to home. Geez. How long did Brooks stay in? I get the idea of reintroducing a pitcher when you're up 6 instead of in a much closer game...but. Still, I'll try not to question that full page worth of Sweep graphics that started off this thread. Hoping I'll have something happy to post in a moment...
