  1. The hawing party is leaving Madison pretty shortly, so we'll likely arrive quite close to 7:00. Can't guarantee we'll be parked right next to the Invadermobile like last year, though.
  2. One of my guilty pleasures is enjoying when Deadspin rips on the Cardinals. Here's an example: Link I mean, I know it's unfair and inaccurate to paint an entire fanbase with one brush. But Deadspin does it so well. "We're just a bunch of humble boys who are already lording our future alternate dimension title over you."
  3. 7:00 PM. I don't know if it's under Brewerfan or Invader3K's real name...or maybe Invader3K.
  4. Aw, thanks, you guys!
  5. Having checked around a bit, I'm leaning toward v. 5.0: 1. 2011 (Jul-Oct) 2. 2012 (separate 1 year deal) 3. 2013 (Apr-Jul) 4. 2014 5. 2015+++ Does that seem reasonable?
  6. Is this v. 3.0? 4.0? What can we call this?
  7. I did not know there was an Esquire Network, probably because their target audience is not likely to be me. But now I'm curious to see if we get it at home, as I would watch Parks & Rec reruns.
  8. Assuming we don't get slammed with wintry weather or another piece of upper respiratory crap, figure on two for the hawing party.
  9. Please bear with me, because I don't closely follow the recruiting game, but Stone is like three months from finishing high school and he still hasn't decided/announced where he's going?
  10. My guess is you redeem something at the park that night for the special bobble - like the tables they had set up last year to get the blaze orange DNR game hats. Actually, most of you reading this thread are probably more familiar with the process than I am. Lost in the excitement of the special bobbles is another Zubazpalooza, this year featuring a 1990s-logo color scheme: http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/mil/images/ticketing/y2015/im_zubazpalooza_300x300.jpg
  11. Is 30 really a milestone? Nice. REAL nice.
  12. Wow, Dean, that's great. Kudos to your wife. I should show this to the SO while he still has a year and two weeks to plan for my next milestone birthday.
  13. You were using the (ostensibly shared) kitchen to make food at a normal mealtime? [sarcasm]You fiend![/sarcasm] Yeah, no, those aren't realistic expectations.
  14. Indeed. It's definitely a first-world problem, but I get irked by the occasional tease of At the Ballpark welcoming me to the ballpark and then I can't check in because of middling internet access. Improved internet access has both casual and diehard fan applications. I've certainly used Twitter to ask in-game questions of the in-house media, since that's less disruptive and more effective than my standing up, turning around, and yelling at the press box.
  15. I should ask Nate Hardwick what it's supposed to entail. I hope it supplements rather than replaces ticket window no. 5.
  16. Cait Moyer's blog post Miller Park will have more new stuff in 2015 than just that kinda weird-sounding Selig Experience: Fare from local establishments Smoke Shack and Holey Moley Donuts and Coffee will be added to the concessions mix. There will be a Season Seat Holder Headquarters (SSHHQ?) on the field level, first base side. The loge level will now sport a kiosk for Guest Relations (previously limited to the field and terrace levels) and advance ticket sales. The "JCI Club Patio" on the club level will get a facelift. (News to me is that a JCI Club Patio exists. Was it sponsored by someone else before?) There will be some new additions to the menu at the "regular" (Delaware North) concession stands, among them "Bratchos" (the blog says "an epic combination of Klement’s sausages, kettle chips, cheese, fried sauerkraut, jalapenos and sour cream, all served in a cool Klement’s Racing Sausage bucket"). In news that is surely of interest to thablingster as well as to me, there will be more baked potato stands with new topping options. The IT folks have "worked to improve mobile connectivity throughout the stadium," though on high attendance days it still may be difficult to get a signal. That doesn't sound like a change to me, but we'll see what April brings. And the Selig Experience won't be ready until mid-season - so fans who for some reason consider seeing the Bud Hologram the main reason they're going to Opening Day will be disappointed.
  17. Tell her I said "high five."
  18. The Weather Channel started naming winter storms, hurricane-style, a few years ago. I suppose it makes them easier to hype. Channel 11 in Green Bay has been naming winter storms (at least those that hit their viewing area) since at least the early 1990s. More about winter storm naming here.
  19. For those of you scoring at home, the Saturdays in March this year are the 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th.
  20. [sarcasm]Happy February, everybody![/sarcasm] It sounds like the closer you are to either Lake Michigan or the IL border, the more snow you'll get.
  21. I can think of clips of Cordero with the Brewers that could fill the bill. Or better yet, Cordero with the Reds *against* the Brewers.
  22. I drink the blue Kool-Aid.
  23. My advice to you is to steer clear of the Dane County Farmers Market, then. There is more produce, but even more of the things that bug you. I was clipped on the leg by a red wagon full of kids some time ago. It didn't break my skin, but it hurt enough for me to instinctively say OW! out loud. The adult pulling the wagon didn't even look back. We have not gone to the market in years. The irritations of the "quaintness" outweigh the food options, for us. And to combine bug issues in one post (which I hope doesn't bug anyone ), if you do not like grocery shopping amid high levels of oblivious self-absorption, I recommend you avoid Trader Joe's, if you're near one at all. The location in Madison is literally on our way home, and we have identified a few items there where the quality and price are good - so between the SO and me, we visit once every few weeks or so. But every time I'm there I'm surrounded by people who are all in their own little worlds. Last night two kids (from separate families) with kid-sized carts blocked an entire aisle while they (I'm guessing) each decided which way they wanted to go. Each had a parent right there who didn't suggest anything like "keep going" or "you're blocking the entire aisle."
