  1. I've watched this clip plenty of times over the last year-plus. I enjoy Ed's reaction too. For some reason I wasn't paying attention to what Sedar was doing live. Thanks for playing, Nyjer. I hope you enjoyed your Brewers tenure as much as we did.
  2. We've actually got a longish thread going in Trading Post already: http://forum.brewerfan.net/viewtopic.php?f=68&t=29083
  3. My employer (Wisconsin Historical Society, whose Press published that book) appreciates your support. Seriously, though, I'd endorse it even had it been published elsewhere. There's a photo in it showing a guy heading into County Stadium in the early 1960s literally hoisting a case of Schlitz bottles on his shoulder. Even as a teetotaler I'm impressed by that.
  4. That isn't a very realistic wall cling. 5'10'' high? That's not life sized, that's bigger than life sized. I KNOW, RIGHT?! That was bugging me a bit. But now that this thread has morphed around and people are touching on the Brewers' current logo and its corporate look, I want to get some Brewerfan opinion. My employer, the Wisconsin Historical Society, changed logos a few years ago, and when the new logo was unveiled, people at work kept telling me it reminded them of the Brewers' logo. Does this make you think of the Brewers' logo? It doesn't for me at all, although I do get an athletic vibe from it. The agency that did our logo also did the most recent signage/branding for Camp Randall Stadium. Thanks for tolerating my mini-hijack.
  5. Yep, figured that one out yesterday. Not really a "backdoor" but yeah, it's easy to do. Well, sure enough. I won't spoil anyone's surprises, though.
  6. Cosign on this. I don't think MLB can hope to overcome the NFL's dominance over the country's (remaining) attention span. Even the Wisconsin media (including Milwaukee's) noticeably shift down on baseball coverage as soon as the Packers are doing much of anything.
  7. I kind of like the brick red the 'Stros have been using, and the name/number font. I'd never thought of "flouston" on the script until it was mentioned above. What I've seen so far of the upcoming Stro logo doesn't thrill me, but then again I'm not following their franchise very closely, and will even less once they are in the AL. It does suggest, however, that this blockbuster product will either become a collector's item very soon, or will be discounted very soon: http://www.fathead.com/mlb/houston-astros/jose-altuve-wall-graphic/
  8. But I think the Brewers didn't raise ticket prices (or didn't raise them all) during one of the Macha seasons, and I remember that catching the media's eye. Then again, Don Walker switched fairly recently from sports business to "urban affairs" coverage at the JS. Maybe they are less interested in sports business now.
  9. I don't know. This seems like a seriously misguided effort on the Pirates' part, but at least it is an effort. My interpretation of WSP's tenure is that not a lot of effort was expended.
  10. Seems like human nature would have dictated that Posey was worried about Posey as he saw Prince round 3B. And man. I know it's the World Series, but were I Doug Fister, I think I'd have really wanted to get my head checked after that scary looking play. That kind of injury can be trouble later.
  11. I wonder how concerned the Brewers are about 2013 ticket sales if they are offering such a haul of bobbleheads. We could start referring to our Sunday Plus 20-pack as a Bobblehead Every Other Game Pack.
  12. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5r0-pq6kl3U/TlsxAwB8LcI/AAAAAAAAAJ0/PnC1yKwUcbA/s1600/BuhBye.jpg
  13. That makes sense. We spring for advance parking because we come from farther and cannot count on always having time to hunt for a spot. We pick general parking in part because the Molitor Lot is the awesomest, and in part because the Molitor Lot attendants would miss us if we stopped parking there. One of them even exchanges Christmas cards with us!
  14. This is one of the (few) times I dislike living in Madison. It takes an extra day or two for us to get Brewers mail. I have 2012 per-game pricing at hand, though, so we can extrapolate and use math and stuff to figure out the difference (assuming BSC is citing 20-game package prices): Field Infield Box $45 (up to $46 for 2013) Field Outfield Box $31 (up to $32 for 2013) Field Bleachers $17 (up to $18 for 2013) Loge Diamond Box $38 (up to $39 for 2013) Loge Infield Box $32 (up to $33 for 2013) Loge Outfield Box $25 (up to $26 for 2013) Club Infield or Outfield $30 (up to $31 for 2013) Terrace Box $18 (no change for 2013) Terrace Reserved $12 (up to $13 for 2013) The hawing household are simple general parking folk, so I don't know what preferred parking cost last year. General parking purchased in advance was $9. You sure about the $360 for Terrace Box, BSC? It seems weird that only one seating area would have no price hike. This is not to say that I as a terrace box 20-pack holder would object. Frankly, I'd wondered why there has been no media coverage. In past years, the MJS would consider either a price hike or no change in ticket prices to be newsworthy. Anyway, thanks for sharing.
  15. For the Japanese broadcast team, yes, apparently. Nice. Also, good lord, the Panda tonight.
  16. My goodness.
  17. Aw, that's a shame. While Randy's performance left something to be desired at times, overall I appreciated his efforts in Milwaukee. (Plus without him there would have never been Wolfottaras.)
  18. Taint McFadden. Should have been the last piece of the Brewers' puzzle but then there was that unfortunate freak accident.
  19. Black/Orange from the NL, Navy/Orange from the AL. Ex-Brewers: Guillermo Mota vs. Prince Fielder. (Decide for yourself whether to include Marco Scutaro, since he was in the Brewers' organization but not on the MLB roster) Most importantly for some if not many of us, no Cardinals.
  20. During the 9th I wondered what last year's manager would have done. Kudos to Mike Matheny for taking it.
  21. Dear Cardinals: http://i.chzbgr.com/completestore/2011/4/5/79de68fe-463f-4d8d-aac2-773e5e51bcb6.jpg Plus it's kind of cool to see Marco Scutaro have some success.
  22. Wishing for him to permanently lose his voice would be out of line, but that's not what you wished for. You know that scene from A Christmas Story where Ralphie has had it with the bully Scut Farkus and beats the tar out of him? That could (figuratively) be me and the Cardinals some day. (Sorry in advance if the lead advertisement turns out to be political, as it was for me a moment ago)
  23. Fixed that for you. DON'T LET UP, GIANTS. You're living the dream of many a MLB fan right now.
  24. Only one of the four games (the 2008 WC clincher) would have been done by FSN. The 1982 games were ABC and 2011 was TBS. I have some of these games in other formats, but this wouldn't be a bad Christmas gift hint to drop.
  25. At least if STL advances, they won't do it on their home field.
