  1. I work in Madison, and I'm still working, and I'll say based on what I've seen (and experienced) that there's still way too many people that either don't take this seriously, or just don't understand what "safer at home" means. Big part of the problem is WAAAAAYYYY too many retailers have designated themselves as "essential" when there really isn't a reason people should be going to Hometown Recreation to get pool and dart supplies, Best Buy to get a new set of headbuds, or Michaels to buy art supplies. These places are all finding one or two things they can label as "essential" and then they stay open, and people are just going out to shop, and congregating.
  2. Cool name. Not a great football player. Glad we're moving on from him. Couldn't get separation, didn't run clean routes a lot of the time. Guy was an undrafted FA, so that the Packers got what they did out of him is probably somewhat of an accomplishment.
  3. I think the points that multiple people are getting across is that terms like house arrest are Hyperbole and as much an overreaction as anything else.

  5. Nobody is under house arrest. The pool and dart store is still open. Best Buy is open. Lots of places that shouldn't be open are open.

  7. I went to work today, the first day in Wisconsin of the "Mandated lockdown" and the traffic on the beltline and interstate was absurd. Because so many businesses that are absolutely not essential (Joanne fabrics! Best Buy!) are asking for and receiving exemptions, there are still a lot of people wandering out and about like it's business as usual.

  9. We are talking about Colorado and November like the Rockies have something more than a sliver of a chance of making it to the World Series.

  11. There's only a few people screaming "social distancing" and "flatten the curve". Probably about the same percentage as the people that think this is a scheme cooked up by Bill Gates and Cobra Commander and Megatron to create a Universal Vaccine and inject people with global tracking microchips. I think most people are annoyed, bored, and unsure of their future, while understanding that the goal and purpose of social distancing isn't because a few thousand people have died, it's to avoid putting a massive strain on our already under staffed and short bedded hospitals and healthcare systems all at one time. People are gonna die. It sucks. But having everyone go to the hospital at the same time, whether some people want to believe the things they are told are true or not, would be a massive, major, crippling problem. People that need health care or ER services for non-coronavirus related injuries and illnesses COULD die because care or service is delayed or not available.
  12. Shelter-in-place until April 24th. Assuming another month spring training, we are probably looking at absolute best case scenario where nothing else possibly goes wrong of starting baseball by June 1st. And I honestly don't see that coming even close to happening. I think we are looking at a very realistic scenario where a 60 Game season might be the best we can get
  13. Brewers 34-26 Cubs 33-27 Cards 32-28 Reds 27-33 Pirates 25-35
  14. Looked at the Rams and was surprised to see Todd Gurley is only 25. He's got a lot of carries on his legs already though, and showed some decline this year. Not surprised at all that the Rams decided to move on. 5 years and 1500 touches is a bit of wear and tear. Most NFL running backs don't age gracefully.
  15. I don't think it's a reach that other states will adopt this sooner, rather than later.
  16. I'll preface my comment by saying I know that there are things going on that are way more important than baseball, and I understand that, and I agree that what they're doing is the right thing. That being said, the baseball fan in me can still take the time to feel like..... man, it really sucks that we're losing a half a year (or more) of Yelich in his prime. Think about the Angels. They have Mike Trout, easily the best player of this generation, and maybe one of the top 5 players ever when it's all said and done (if he stays on the track he's on) and they're losing a huge chunk of a full season of a prime aged season from him. Like I said, I know it's just baseball, and it doesn't matter much in the great scheme of things, but it's still there.
  17. yup, someone has to win it, and I am a BIG FAN of it being the Brewers... LIKE.. I wouldnt care if the Brewers win a 29 game round robin and get named world champs. Hang that banner.
  18. Does this mean that the next Wisconsin team to win a National Championship is, indeed, the Badgers men basketball team? :D
  19. Fortunately, or unfortunately, I was on vacation for a week and then off to a family funeral for several days right before this all broke out. So I have several Wisconsin, Marquette, and Bucks basketball games on the DVR to catch up on. The trainers at the fitness center where I work have started putting out workouts of the day that you can do on your own. This weekend I'll get back into watching episodes of Airplane Repo. Best show on TV, but they're charging for season 1 now. Oh, and alcohol does kill viruses. You don't need to get a super-high BAC; just maintain a reasonable level of intoxication (0.10-0.15%) for a few hours. Kind of like taking medication - one dose usually doesn't do it, you have to take several doses and let it circulate in your blood for a couple of days. I recommend mixed drinks or shots with chasers, 2-3 per hour depending on body size. Don't want to use beer - too filling, not high enough BAC.
  20. I'd guess based on my completely unprofessional but gray area opinion that we'll still have about half a season. I hope so anyways.
  21. That actually was a good article, and shows why shutting down large gatherings (sporting events) is more helpful than quarantines.
  22. Ohio and Illinois have closed restaurants to all but drivethrough, carryout, and delivery. I suspect this will be nationwide soon.
  23. Went to Menards this morning because we (legitimately) needed dog food and a few other things. While there, we looked for TP, just to see if they had any. THere was none. Went to the RV section, and there's pack after pack of RV toilet paper. Well huh. I have no idea if RV toilet paper goes down a normal toilet, but it's there if needed.
  24. Same. I thought it would be a refreshing change to my work week when we started last Tuesday. That was true for a day or two, but by the end of the week it felt pretty isolating. when I worked for a telecom company on the internal help desk, I worked for four years from home. WHen I started working from home, they did a survey and asked the 30 of us what we thought would be the pros and cons of working at home (No pants!) and I couldn't think of any cons. After 3 years those of us still on the WAH program took another survey, and I listed "an overwhelming sense of isolation" as one of the cons. There were weeks where I wouldn't leave the house unless my wife was like "dude, you look like a hobo". Working at home seems like it would be awesome, but it's not. There's a lot of drawbacks, and isolation is probably the biggest one.
