  1. Yeah, when people complain about Aikman.... booger Mcfarland is way worse.
  2. So Aaron Jones drops a sure touchdown, and now Shephard not only drops a 1st and goal catch off his facemask, he tips it into an interception.
  3. Eh. If you make contact with a helmet while diving forward, that HAS to get called. The perception is that the NFL doesn't care about safety. They HAVE to call head-to-head hits like that, regardless of intent. So you would be OK with the offensive player getting the flag there? Allison was in position and Walker speared Allison in the jaw. If Allison had hit Walker I'd have said the same thing. I said a post ago that I agreed there was no intent on Walker's part, and that's why I believe he wasn't ejected.
  4. I mean hes literally going to catch the ball when allison cuts in front of him and their helmets hit. he had not intention to hit anyone. Agreed. That's why Walker didn't get kicked out of the game.

  6. What is Walker supposed to do? Not lead with the helmet. Booger McFarland is an idiot.
  7. If MVS is out for any extended period of time, I would expect that they will be on the lookout for a receiver. Man, if Antonio Brown wasn't a crazy head case, he would look absolutely perfect in this offense. I don't even want to entertain the notion of Antonio Brown. It's one thing to consider people with sketchy moral character, but the guy has likely/possibly sexually assaulted at least two people, he's also the aforementioned headcase.
  8. This offense is bad without adams
  9. Coan's completed 76% of his attempts and has 1 pick in 135 attempts. He's been hyper efficient when asked to throw the ball. Like Homer earlier said, he hasn't shown a great ability to throw the deep ball, and so far he's only been asked to try it a few times, and obviously the need hasn't been there. The Badgers average 24 throws a game, and he's completing 19 of them, and he's doing a pretty decent job of hitting his receivers in stride, away from defenders, and generally putting his receivers in position to make plays and get YAC. Can't really complain. I don't know how any of that qualifies as "sad", other than just the fact that the Badgers just don't put it up a ton.
  10. Desmond had an ops of 657 away from Coors and 657 vs rhp. Hes also really bad defensively. Id rather just roll with Braun as the rhb 1st baseman.
  11. Off-season plan --- Bring back Anderson -- He gives up a lot of homers but he's still a useful piece and not that expensive. one of Lyles/Gio -- I like both these guys. Gio has a longer track record of success. Lyles I think was a lot of smoke and mirrors. Maybe Hook saw something in him last year that he was able to either correct or something he was able to make repeatable. I don't know. I'm not sold that Lyles is suddenly a 3 - 3.50 ERA guy, but I wouldn't mind bringing him back on a reasonable 2 year deal. Some rando mid-tier FA SP -- We're not getting Cole, it's just not happening. Maybe Miley again. Maybe someone else, but just some guy who can ably fill in the rotation. Trade Hader for either Lux or Seager+ -- To be clear, I don't WANT to trade Hader. I think he's got the ceiling of being the best reliever in baseball. But the Dodgers need a guy to anchor their bullpen and we need a shortstop, so this makes sense. To me, anyways. If we trade Hader, it becomes really prominently clear that a big push needs to be made to bring back Pomeranz. Knebel should be back at some point, and the rest of the bullpen will be tossed together like a mixed salad as usual, but Pom pitched amazingly well in that role. Re-sign one of Grandal or Moose to a 3 year deal. I have no illusions that both of them are coming back. I'd honestly prefer Moose, because the idea of Shaw being the 3B next year is a little scary. Pina and "some guy" can ably handle the catching duties. I'd just make sure that Manny doesn't catch more than about 95 games. Obvious move is obvious - exercise Thames option DFA Perez. There's got to be a few guys out there that can do what he does and get on base at better than a .275 clip. I really like Hernan, and have enjoyed watching the guy play, but he's not performing.
  12. The Julio Franco reference in the Old Hoss Radbourn video just about killed me.
  13. Minnesota just isn't that good. They've been squeaking by some really bad teams. A 3 point win over Georgia Southern and a 7 point win over North Dakota State. Illinois last week was their first double digit win of the season. They'll likely be an 8 or 9 win team by the time the Badgers play them, simply because the Goofs have a ridiculously soft schedule this year, and are still struggling to get through it. I'll take the Badgers easily in that one.
  14. I think the Orioles would tender Villar and attempt to trade him rather than just dump him for nothing.
  15. Wow. That was an awesome stiff arm.
  16. Almost bowl eligible....
  17. Coan has done a nice job of taking the open receivers with msu stacking the box today.
  18. Nice grab Q
  19. Millen says "you need J Taylor to be carrying the football for the offense to have any effect" Well duh? It's not really a running down when the qb drops the snap and loses 10 yards after a 10 yard holding penalty puts them in 3rd and super long.
  20. And Georgia goes down.... Oof. Losing to a 2-3 team at home.
  21. Just strolled over to B-R to look at Brox and by gosh, he struck out 104 times in 224 plate appearances this year. I'm 100% on the "strikeouts don't matter" bandwagon, but even I feel like there starts to be a point where it actually does *kinda* matter.
  22. The Dodgers bullpen wasn't lights-out this year. It wasn't awful, but it wasn't shut-down-good. They might be willing to spend a bit of capital to upgrade that pen. I think obviously the Dodgers would rather be using a shutdown reliever in late innings than Kershaw, and the Dodgers will 1000% still be in "Go For It" mode in 2020. I'm not for trading Hader, but if the Brewers can get an MLB ready shortstop and a couple of top flight prospects back, I'd consider it. As an aside, they aren't getting Bellinger for Hader. They just aren't. Any GM who would ask for an 8-9 WAR player who hasn't hit arby yet (will next year) for ANY reliever is nuts. Plain nuts. Bellinger is a top 5 player in the game. He's that good, and no matter how good a reliever is, they don't have nearly the kind of impact an 8+ WAR player like Bellinger can have.
  23. What I see that I immediately don't like (sorry to be the debbie downer to this party) is there's a ton of dollars committed to guys that are going to be over 30 when they make the lion's share of their money. Extending Yelich, Thames, and offering 4 years to Grandal ..... Just some of that doesn't make sense in the sense that it doesn't need to be done. Thames has a super friendly team option for next year. Guy is going to be 33 next year and has never had a 2.0 WAR season. instead of paying him 10 mil a year for his 34 and 35 aged seasons, let him walk after next year and find some younger cheaper production at 1B, which is probably the easiest position to find some easy .800 - 825 OPS productio out of. Extending Grandal 4 years should be an absolute do not touch. He's a catcher, and he's going into his age 31 seasons. Most catchers don't age past 31 - 32 well (at all). Guys like Johnny Bench are ultra-rare. Banking on Grandal being even a .750 OPS hitter 4 years from now is not something I want to do. Can't just defer everybody. They're already going to be paying Braun, while not a huge amount to not be a Brewer, it's something. They're paying a lot of little deferals to Garza, Braun, Cain, etc. That stuff adds up.
